Guest
Pangea has nice dress shoes...and of course everything is vegan...if you want a vegan company for "real athletic" shoes your out of luck(I think). All the vegan companies that make athletic shoes go the function follows form route. I've tried a bunch of vegan brand running shoes and I wouldn't wanna jog more than 1/4 mile at most in them. With that said...most modern basketball shoes(athletic shoes in general) don't have leather anymore anyway since new synthetics look the same, breath better, last longer, are lighter, and cheaper(although they don't charge you that way)
Kathryn
If you visit www.vegnews.com (the magazine site) and click on the "marketplace" tab in the upper/middle of the page, it will take you to links for vegan companies. Look under Clothing and Merchandise.
wannalift
i don't know about basketball shoes, but as for running shoes, Montrail are top shelf. plus almost no one has Montrail shoes so you can run fast and be fashion forward. Montrail >>> New Balance. of note, veganessentials.com carries these.
joelbct
The VeganWares Henry's are excellent dress shoes, but order half a size smaller than usual, they are from australia. You can find them here- http://www.mooshoes.com/ As for the sneakers, New Balance told me that most all commercial athletic shoes use animal-derived glue, but many will have synthetic materials instead of leather. You can ask the salesman, and here is a list of New Balances without leather, though I think it leaves out some of their newer models: "Thank you for your interest in New Balance! ALL of the following models are made with synthetic materials.However. please note that we do use different types of gluesdepending on what is available. Also be aware that some of ourglues will contain animal products as many glues do. Even thoughthe shoe contains all synthetic leather does not mean it willbe completely vegan. We do not mix real and synthetic leatherson any shoe. It is either leather or synthetic period. Kathryn
Intesting. I never considered the glues used in shoe making. I just looked for the "all man-made materials" label in some . Wonder if some of my "non-leather' shoes are actually not vegan.

sensless
You can also check out www.veganessentials.com. They sell lots of shoes there and it is a fellow board members company. Regards, Sensless
