We measure temperature by wind chill here.

(The combination of wind and air temperature makes it feel like X degrees outside)

Tonight it's going to hit minus 40 degrees!!!!

My eyes were sore from walking from the parking lot this morning.

The wind just cuts through your clothing (I've always found that the thighs are most vulnerable..... unless you wear long underwear.)

bbbbrrrrrrrrr!

F or C?

celcius

but -40 celcius is equal to -40 fahrenheit

Oh right! Because I live in the real world, we just use C we weren't taught F at school. That's freakin cold.

No worries

We use metric in Canada too but I was taught imperial when I was a kid.

I feel pretty much equally adept at both systems now but kids are all taught metric only in school.

We got some of your cold Canadian air last night eh.

This morning I woke up to zero F, that's -15 C

Going to get up to 6F today.

Lucky we don't have much wind.

Right now the wind chill is -9F or -22C

It's going to be a little cooler tonight and tomorrow night

Then it is forecast to get better for us.

We tend to get low pressure zones blowing in from Colorado.

We should be having this cold snap for another few days

On the bright side.... we're also getting some more snow.... that tobogan run in our yard is gonna be pretty big this year!

Keep your darn canadian air...its supposed to make its way to the mid west soon...then to the mid-atlantic and I don't want it to interfere with my warm weather cycling. Yesterday was the first day of the year that was cold for me but it was still quite pleasant...I don't want it any worse than that.

How are temps this morning in the Great White North?

We got a little cooler than expected last night.

-17F (-27C) At least we only have wind gusts of 2 mph, so almost no wind chill factor.

The car complained for about 5 seconds before she started this morning

I should have plugged her in last night.

OMG!!!!!

It is unbelievable this morning!!!!

Air temp is -36 degrees

windchill is -48 degrees

School buses are not running today.

School patrols will not be working.

Heard on the radio this morning that one of the DJ's tried plugging in his car this morning and the cord snapped off in his hand!

Sometimes I have to wonder why I live here

The strange thing is that it is scorching hot in the summer here.

We have one of the largest temperature variations in the world. I think there is a place in Russia that is around the same.

I'll send some warm Montana air up to you.

It should be there by Wednesday.

We are having a heat wave.

Last night we didn't even drop below zero F (-17C)

Now I know where to go for winter vacation!

One of the most frustrating things about this cold wave is all the people who feel that "see! there's no such thing as global warming!"
