  1. The "recommended" cardio for most people is 30 minutes of daily exercise between 3 and 6 METs (a MET is the amount of energy you expand doing nothing).

For weight loss, 60 minutes are recommended daily.

If you run on a treadmill, 3 METs is around 3 mph, whereas 6 METs is around 4.5 mph

Also, you gain more if you do something like: 1 minute at 3 METs, 2 minutes at 6 METS for 30 minutes rather than stay at the same pace for the whole time.

As far as strength training goes, there are better people than me to talk about it.

  2. My brother in law had his facial hair removed that way. If done correctly, it will span over several months (like 6 total), and there will still be hair just very thin and light one (easy to wax).

I was thinking about it for facial hair too, but somehow the idea of getting my derm overheated and burnt by a laser doesn't appeal to me...

  3. Ok, what do I mean by sustainable?

    • Being able to work out everyday
    • A routine that helps me improve in all components of physical fitness (aerobic, muscular, flexibility and balance)

    Why is it pathetic?

Well, I've never been physically fit... Even though I have improved lately.

    Day 1

    Weight: 127.4 lbs

Did some isometric exercises this morning, not enough time to do anything else before going to work...

  4. A few tips for writing a constitution:

    • Put the right to vote in there and make it so that nobody can deny that right
    • If you choose to go for an electoral college kind of vote, make it so that members of the college HAVE TO vote according to what the people voted

It's true you can't get a constitution right on the first try, but nobody is keeping Americans from doing it again...

  5. wow. he (they) would make a great gymnast, skater, criminal...

    i liked the music, too.

French rap all the way... The lyrics leave no doubt that they're about making great criminals...

For those of you who liked the video, here is a BBC clip that was done a little while ago (no special effects), and an excerpt from the movie Banlieue 13 (with David Belle, one of the founders of Parkour - no special effects either).

And of course, the le parkour gone wrong video.

  6. I grew up in France, and am currently living in California...

I have felt homesick for a long time, but after a while you get used to it.

I hate the place I live in, however I know better times will come. Once my wife is done with school, then we'll move to a better place.

The bottom line is, try to make the most out of it and then just move on. You're the one that can make a place liveable or not.

  7. I have trained in Wing Chun for some time.

I think the bottom line is the same for any martial arts/self defense:

never believe when people tell you that you'll be invincible. There is so much BS going on in this market (yes, it IS a market)... I have made a few rules for finding a good MA school:

    • Never go to a school that has ads in the newspapers around
    • Never go to a school that tries to lock you in a contract
    • If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
    • Try to find the guy that doesn't advertise much, but loves what he's doing and doesn't need to say anything to prove you his worth

  8. The internet didn't exist in 1969, much less web browsers and forums...

However, Dec 31, 1969 is the day right before Unix epoch.

I'm pretty sure the "date" field in the database must be store as all 0s or all Fs...

If you didn't understand what I stated above, don't worry this is computer geek gibberish .

Bottom line is: Dec 31, 1969 is a computer glitch. Not a real join date.

  9. maori's are rather adept at theft and are many time more likely to have a criminal charge it

They are also the best rugby players in the world.

ireland isnt cold! the south western corner is one of the warmest places in the british isles as its on the head of the gulf stream!

Hot/cold is highly personal... I think it's too cold in Sacramento in the winter (most people would love the climate here), that's why I'm planning on moving to San Diego.

However, Ireland is really beautiful. I really enjoyed Connemara and Galway. Plus meeting other people of Norman ancestry was a bliss.
