Just thought I should introduce myself. Some of you may know me already. I'm a full-time animal advocate. I've been lifting weights regularly for a year and a half. Since summer I have let my progress slide, but I'm interested in getting back into lifting with more intention. Spent several hours lurking about the board the last couple days. Read a lot of posts, which have helped give me a little inspiration. I look forward to getting to know more of you on the board. Seems like a positive community. Cheers, Daniel

Hello, I am Karen. I am 41 years of age, live in London Ontario Canada. Origionally from near London England, been in Canada since I was 21. I have always been vegan, I just never liked meat or dairy products, so it's not a choice I made, thats just how I am. I have tried Yoga and Pilates, right now I am trying to get from skinny fat to completley toned. I am just working out with weights, so any advice you can give would be great. So glad I found you all. Karen

Hello, I see many familiar names and faces from veganfitness.net, where I have been a usual at for a year and a half or so. Finally made it over to this forum, and now I have two vegan weightlifting sites to browse instead of working. To those of you I don't know, my name is Tyler, and I am from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I went veggie at 16 and have been vegan for maybe 5 or 6 years, I don't really remember (I am 25 now). I live with my longtime (7 years) girlfriend Larissa, who I went vegan with at the same time. I am into lifting for strength, and also train martial arts; Jeet Kune Do, Pentjak Silat and Kali.

Right, if I get this bit wrong blame compassionategirl cos she told me to do it!!! A biologist and medical scientist by background; into (mainly) strength/power routines for 3 1/2 years using basically the following system: light warm-up, medium 2nd set, then power set for 1--3 reps, followed by still heavy but lighter set for about 10 reps. No more than two heavy sets per move, no more than two moves per bodypart, no more than one bodypart trained each 7--14 days--so lots of rest and high protein foods. This has taken me from 150lbs 3 years ago to 230lbs today and still growing. Age: 43 Height: 5'10" Weight 230lbs Chest 50" Arms 18 1/4" waist 34" Legs 26 1/2" Very li…

Hey Fellow Veg-Heads!!! ) I'm Shelby, I'm 19, and have been a vegan since I was 12. I've been seriously weightlifting for about 2 years, yet still desperately need to bulk up! P I am a Personal Trainer and full-time student, studying to be a nurse. My crazy pets are my life and I love them to death! I live in Darien, IL, which is about 20 miles South of Chicago. My dream is to be a bodybuilder, but I have a long ways to go! Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself... I think it's awesome that this site is up, for I always get a hard time at the gym for being a vegan... it's nice to have people to talk with who share the same values and views and who wont tell me…

Hi, My name is Lisa and I am a 39 yr old Mom to three daughters. I have been vegetarian then vegan since 1987. I have tried raw, but wasn't feeling great. I do eat a large percentage of raw but do add some cooked. I have also been weight training on and off since the 80's. Different life events, having babies, finances, etc have kept me out of the gym. I have, though, always tried to keep an excercise program going when not in the gym. Two years ago my husband, girls and I relocated from NY to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Because of finances I have not been able to join the gym until last week. I am so excited to be back weight training and I can't wait to ge…

Hello everyone, My name is Alessandro, I have been a raw-vegan now for roughly a year and was vegan before that for several. Overall I find the treatment of animals in modern factory farms to be utterly deplorable and find myself compelled to relay the vegan message to those willing to listen. I started my vegan journey for moral reasons coupled with my obsession with nutrition and exercise. I decided to try the raw-vegan approach out of pure skepticism and found myself transformed in the process. I have been bodybuilding for 8 years and have gone through several changes physically in the process. I am lighter and slightly weaker than I was as a strict vegetarian but I a…

Hello, I was always a skinny girl (albeit, not fit!) until I hit 30. Then I gained a few pounds. By 35, it was a few pounds more. By 40, even more. Five years ago I took time off with the intent to lose weight. I lost 35 pounds & was successful beyond what I imagined. Then I went back to work. My jobs have always been 50+ hours a week & I didn't weigh myself on a regular basis & within 2 years, I had gained over 50% of the weight back. Now? I have gained every pound back!! Arghhh!! IT IS DEMORALIZING!!!! Now, I finally (& deservedly so!) have a good paying part time job & am trying to lose all these d*mned pounds AGAIN! I love step aerob…

Hiya, many of you on here will know me already, just thought I'd come up with a different username, so as to include Kiera, the li'l hooligan For those of you that don't know me - and wanna find out! - hiya! My name's Billy, I'm female tho - was named after Billy Idol at a time when I was walking round looking like a (sort of) lookalike of the geezer. Other than that, I've been vegan for about 10 years and for a few years, up till about a year or so ago, well into fitness and weightlifting. I even made it to qualified fitness instructor! Hi. I'm not exactly a Vegan Bodybuilder, however, I am a Vegan who is very physically active and fit. I recognize it as pretty much the ideal diet for a number of reasons. Health, the environment, animal cruelty, etc. Despite not really being a bodybuilder, I do have some muscle type questions that I hope you'll be able to help me with. Here's my story: When I was 17, I weighed 240 pounds (6ft). That year, I started yoga and it somehow spurred my metabolism, which had remained sluggish through years of sports, into bringing me down to about 190 Pounds. Two years ago, I became a vegan (Pretty much on a mcdougall diet) due to the health benefits. I lost 10 pounds, bringi…

I'd rather be at the gym at this exact moment but I need one more day to recover. I've been vegan for 4-5 years. Used to be 238 or so and 36" waist. I went vegan and that peeled some weight off then started getting serious about being active and that dropped me down to about 168. I'm now up to about 185 and have kept a 30" waist or so with 14% bodyfat. I lift 2x a week, play soccer, football, dodgeball, and try to run sometimes. I'm 25 and working on a masters degree in education so I can teach social studies. Will turned me on to this forum. I think it'll be good for me to have some inspiration since I'm changing gyms tomorrow. My old one close up shop …

. . . but I've been pokin' around here for about a year. I don't now why it took me so long to join - this is a great site. So, I've been vegan for two years now and that was one of the greatest decisions in my life. I'm another Texas vegan, I live in Houston. I really enjoy lifting weights but I especially love triathlons. Also, I love martial arts and outdoor activities like hiking/camping. As far as my goals, the thing that I want most now is a lean, chiselled physique, maybe a little more muscle mass. As far as my workouts, lately I've been doing bench press, deadlifts, squats, power cleans and push press for weight training. Of course I run and bicycle a …

Good morning All, I'm not new to the board, but I have moved from the fur campaign to the VEGAN campaign. I will be heading up a lot of the health and fitness aspects that come with being VEGAN here at PETA. From time to time I will be turning to you all and asking for personal stories, achievements, and your thoughts on certain things. Veganbodybuilding.com has a wonderful group of members, and you all are a wonderful well of information. If you ever have an idea, a though, or just have a question- do not hesitate to ask, PM, or email me. Thanks again for your continued support. Mike

Hello everyone! I'm a 17 year-old vegan from Hessen in Germany. I am vegan for about a year and a half and before I was a vegetarian for about two years. A friend of mine recommended me this forum to realise my intention to get a fitter body and lose some weight. Since I go to school I have problems with my weight. However, I managed in the last years to get a better fitness but it's not yet as good as I want it to be. I tried many ways of sport: swimming, thai-boxing, riding, going to the gym and finally also home training. Parallel to sports I pay attention to what I eat. Another problem is that my digestion is very sensitive. A problem is my motivation to do…

I am only a vegetarian. But I am dead, so attempts to convert me will be in vain. I felt compelled to clarify something I believe may be misinterpreted among this community. When I say: " Remember to let (her) under your skin, Then you’ll begin to make it Better better better better better better" I am not referring to steroids and reaching full muscle potential. This has long been misunderstood and I do appreciate having had the opportunity to set the record straight.
