jeanette
I'm not new to trying to lose fat and gain muscle but I've started more seriously reading about it in the past month. And I've finally given up on trying to do both at the same time. I've finally decided that If I lose ten lbs of fat I'm going to do a real bulking cycle. (still low fat and as low gi as I can make it).
Daywalker
Hi jeanette and welcome! You'll find plenty of info on vegan bulking and cutting here! I'd be interested on how you tried to do both at the same time, because i think it works if you do it right, but maybe not for everyone. Enjoy the communication here, love and peace,Daywalker

jeanette
THe way I tried to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time was by eating 30-80 grams of protein a day, less then 20 grams of carbs and less then 8 grams of fat. while still doing some strength training. I lost fat but I also lost a lot of muscle. Part of the problem was it was hard to get enough. That was before I discoverd trader Joe's soy protein powder. (much cheaper then any other ones I've seen). Edited September 10, 2005 by jeanette
Daywalker
That's only ... *calculates* about 470 calories!!That's never enough! Or did you mistype the numbers?
jeanette
That was just one of the many attempts. I guess I wasn't expecting to gain muscle at that time so much as I didn't think I'd lose as much muscle as I did. Also I have a suspicion that my lean body mass may be as low as 80 lbs. and may never have been much higher. (I'm ordering a body fat analyzer now.) Just remember to do it in a healthy way that your body can tolerate and be careful. If you want the change to last, it's going to have to be a lifestyle you can live with.
