  1. I am sure people who eat a variety of whole foods get what they need daily. I think this omega 3 craze is a marketing scheme. There is some truth to it but I truely think that omega 3s are not what truely protects your heart. This was done so well that people are willing to defend it like it is law. I realize we all need certain nutrients but I think this isolation of nutrients thing, we keep doing is at the end seem like it really does not do much for anyones health. It just seems to me suddenly everyone is worried and scared if they don't get their omega 3s. I think this is not the solution. Eating well period is the key. 5 years ago people or so people did not get their omega 3 supplements and they were the same in health. Same with 15 years ago. Now people might even be worse off then 20 years ago. Both my grandparents lived to 89 and one ate the mediteranian diet and the other ate the western diet. Both had smoked for a significant amount of years. One ate more fish than the other. So I am assuming their are a whole lot of things that affect life health and longevity not just one nutrient.

Bottom line what scientist do know is

Eat mainly high plant based diet.

    Reduce stress significantly

    Don't eat processed or minimally

    Excersize

Have a good community tie with family friends or other groups.

  2. Basically Fish is not healthy for anyone no matter how many times people claim it is great. Plus the poor guys are the middle man when it comes to omega 3s. It is not the original source of omega 3s. Kelp and other sea plants are the original source.

Here is the same script over and over again.

AAAAAAAAAAA what... what is that..... plants??? (Dramatic pause) nutrients....? how that is impossible....?

    yeap!

    Plants win again.

  3. I think there are some things this guys says that are great but then one that I am against.

He thinks soy foods if organic are great because of Isoflavonoids . He does promote fish a lot because of Omega 3s. Much more honest and sounds truthful than Dr. Mercola. He even quoted that if people just begun to replace their meat meals with more soy it would seriously improve their health.

He did mention that Vegan diet was not optimal because of b12 and iron. There I disagree. He does mention now that eating flax seeds is a good substitute for fish if you don't like fish. (again this is his general audience he is talking too.)

    Received: 2 December 1991 Accepted: 30 June 1992

Abstract Nutrient composition of eight commonly consumed spices of South India was analysed. Spices analysed were red chillies (Capsicum annum), black pepper (Piper nigrum), coriander seeds (Coriandrum sativum), cumin seeds (Cuminum cyminum), garlic (Allium sativum), asafoetida (Ferula foetida), dry ginger (Zingiber officinale) and ajowan (Carum copticum). The nutrients analysed were proximate principles, minerals, starch, sugars, dietary fibre components, tannins, phytic acid, enzyme inhibitors and amino acids. Dry ginger, ajowan and asafoetida had high calcium (1.0–1.5%) and iron (54–62 mg/100 g) levels. The tannin content of spices was also high (0.9–1.3% DM). Dietary fibre ranged from 14–53%. Spices had appreciable amounts of essential amino acids like lysine and threonine. A survey revealed the average per capita consumption of spices to be 9.54 g and at that level, the nutrient contribution from spices ranged from 1.2 to 7.9% of an average adult Indian male's requirement for different nutrients.

  5. I was thinking that if people want to improve there standing environmentally one thing we can do is the following. Feel free to add what you know or your ideas. Being Vegan is great but we can make just a little effort more we can also make more of a difference with our environment.

    - Buy only objects that it's container or wrap you can recycle.

    - Store leftovers in glass containers (tomato sauce bottles by reusing)

    - If you can take a bus or a car take the bus (no brainer)

    - Bring your own container for a doggy bag if you eat out. ( if you know that the portions are big).

Add your ideas I will post at the end of this all peoples ideas in collectively.

Things that are easy and simple and making aware choices. Again any step is better than no step.

I know some people mention things like freecycle etc... but that takes a bit more effort. I mean on a day to day basis what can we all do to cut that pollution and landfill besides being Vegan.

and being dead does not count...

    please no repeats

  6. I love fitness, I love health and nutrition but I often struggle to be consistent with the gym. I either find to much todthings to do and between work and errands I end up missing the opportunity to go. Even then sometimes I just sit at home look at some of my weights and go yeah let me search a good fitness idea online and I don't end up working out at all. I guess it could be lazyness or just lack of motivation but I am mentally motivated but not physically. When it comes to go out and go breakdance out at a club I usually don't mind doing that. Just want to be consistent with weigth trainning. How do you stay consistent. Specially when results take forever.

    Advice would be great!

  7. How much sleep do you get. I heard to much sleep is not healthy and so is to little sleep. So how much sleep do you get and what time do you get to bed? I am still on college hours and I graduated 7 years ago. 12:00 am to 2:00am depending on the day. Find it hard with a long day of work to relax and feel like I did something for myself so I go stay up. I average 6.5 to 7 hours a night.

  8. I want to say that I forget her name but she was at the VBB booth at the AR conference an says she never supplements on pills. She just sprinkled her food with yeast with b12 from her coop which has a bin. She has been vegan and says her levels are just fine. I think you just go to be consistent and make sure it does have B

Yeah I agree some people think B-12 ain't so tasty.

  9. If you have not watch this clip yet it will help explain lot of these arguements.

Lot of people come to veganism through different means. Not everything can be 100 fact. Just there more cases and so on that favor a plant based diet. My sister said oh my friends grandfather is 90 and he ate cheese his whole life. I was like great but imagine how much longer he could live if he had not even that extra heart clogging fat. Plus there are always people who break the norm. Not in the case for most people.

I studied nutrition two years. Listening to nutrition podcast every day 8 hours for the last two years. Including sitting through Berkley's nutrition lectures. I started trying to eat whey shakes and bulking and I ended up after doing more and more research as a Vegan. That should say something about the evidence. More fruits and veggies less or no meat and dairy. China study is just a small part in the evidence for optimal health. No animals is us. We still can look for hints or ideas of how they live and how it may be similar to our way. Yet we got job stress environmental pollution and so on which also pay a toll on our health as well.

Plus I think all aspects of veganism are important not just one. I came in through health and now feel strong about animals and I get upset for the mention of animals as food.

    Everyone has

all good points if you ask me.

  10. I always like to think you eat the animal and you make it suffer but at the end it will come back to kill you. So payback is a bi###. Mac is the man. I hope eat gets his fury back and kicks some but. The biggest problem is fighters fight only about 2 to 3 times in a years. I would be more fun to see more of MAC.

I would just ignore all the ignorant keyboard commandos over on Sherdog, they argue with out knowing the real truth. Like some important officials claim that they don't believe in global warming. Global warming is not a religion it is no based on faith or opinion. Global warming is a fact. Tons of scientific data out. Not knowing makes you look dumb.
