  1. Howdy All,

Some of ya'll may be curious as to why Lotus & I have been fairly inactive here over the past month. Basically it's a combination of being very busy (more so than usual), our trip to Seattle & some computer problems. Right now, it looks like the computer problems are going to keep us offline at home for at least a couple of weeks. Even once we get online again it is unlikely that we will generally be as active here as we have been in the past but we'll be around as much as time permits.

  2. Offense,

I'd definitely love to show folks some of Cascadia's remaining ancient forests (aka "old growth")! I'll look around to see where the nearest best examples of these forests are to the beachhouse in lincoln city. I have not been to them personally yet but there are 3 seperate designated wilderness area's on the central oregon coast.

Sadly, one is far more likely to primarily see clearcuts scarring the mountains rather than ancient forests in the areas close to Portland or Lincoln City...

I'm not sure how much like Zeb I sound like as I dont recall ever hearing his voice. I occasionally get folks thinking that I'm Canadian or Irish or something as apparently they dont think I sound "American"...

George W is a faker - he's really a Yankee! That sucker was born in New Haven, Connecticut & went to Yale.

  3. Thanks for the kind words CN!

Lots to blog about & little time to blog... We had a fun trip to Seattle to celebrate Lotus's graduation. While there, we checked out as much of the the city as time permitted including such vegan hot spots as Mighty-O donuts, Side Car for Pigs Peace vegan store, Flowers (I think thats what its called...) vegan buffet, the Last White Elephant thrift store, Hillside Quickies & Vegan Garden. We met up with Robert & Liz as they were returning from Vancouver to Portland & shared a meal with them at Vegan Garden.

    More to come!

  4. I've been once & I'd love to go again - but doubt that we'll make it this year... It would be extra special to be able to stay on-site & be around when the hordes weren't. Maybe 2008 could see a VB&F contingent join the fair!

There's a Fairie Festival coming up in Eugene that I'd enjoy going to as well. No, I dont believe in Fairies & yes, some of those who say that they do are particularly obnoxious but I still think it'd still be fun.

  5. I'm definitely VERY excited - it will be great to finally meet so many of you great folks that I only know from online!

I dont have any video games so I'll bring my copies of 28 Days Later & The Bisbee Cannibal Club!

  6. *** Veganfitness Week 2007 ***

3rd Annual event for all vegans

    Amsterdam, Holland, 13-17 August

    * Endurance * Speed * Strength * Skill *

Veganfitness Week has previously been held in Manchester, UK and Stockholm, Sweden. It is a week full of activity, sports, teaching and learning new skills and generally having fun in a 100% vegan environment.

You do not have to be super fit to join in, or like all the activities on offer. And if you have any particular skill or a passion for a sport, please consider contributing to the workshops and sessions. This is a community driven event where everybody takes part, and not a fully organised package deal.

The cost for the week is €150 which covers accommodation, food and running costs. There might be additional costs for extra activities.

More information, please see the dedicated forum at veganfitness.net:

    http://www.veganfitness.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=32

And the main thread with more information, interim schedule (which at this point doesnt have the planned cycling/velodrome and extra weights session pencilled in yet) etc:

    http://www.veganfitness.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10581

To register for the event, please see:

    http://www.veganfitness.net/events/vfw2007/vfform.php

Its first come first serve, so please dont leave the registration to the last minute.

Feel free to ask any questions on the forum!

Please note that the event starts straight after International Animal Rights Gathering in Northern Holland, Friday 10th - Monday 13th August:

  8. Thanks for getting the schedule going Robert!

I'd like to get the tour started a bit earlier, say 10am or so, and probably also extend it by an hour or 2. My thought is to take the bus & walk, starting in SE Portland - then crossing over the river to downtown & perhaps ending up at Proper Eats out in St. Johns. I'll be showing folks all the vegan stores & dining options + as many of the very-vegan friendly spots as time permits.

Please let me know if there is anywhere specific you definitely want to see. I love to show folks around & am glad to show folks around the city at other times besides just the tour.

I'm also still very into the idea of camping &/or going to the hot springs with VV folks + maybe a (day?) trip to Seattle or some other cool place around Cascadia!

  9. Hello & Welcome Chennin!
