  1. I still have not tried Chaco & I cant compare Seattle's options to Phillie's based on personal experience but I do know that Seattle has lots of vegan & vegan friendly places. PETA rates them as the #2 most Veg-Friendly city, after #1 Portland of course!

Here's a link for Seattle vegan restaurants:

    My personal top picks:

    - Araya's Vegetarian Place, 1121 NE 45th St, Seattle (206) 524-4332

    * Vegan Thai & a buffet, oh my!

    - Hillside Quickie's Vegan Sandwich Shop, 4106 Brooklyn Ave NE, Seattle

    (206) 632-3037 * Caribbean/Hip Hop style

  2. Tasha,

I'm unclear on whether ya were asking what I meant by the terms I used or what plants in nature are safe to eat (wild edibles) in our bio-region ( Cascadia: http://www.cascwild.org/cascadia.html ). I am certainly not yet familiar enough with Cascadia's wild edible's to feel comfortable with my ability to live off of them as my sole source of nutrition. I definitely want to be but until that point and in the famed hypothetical "what if?" situation, I certainly would not starve rather than eat animals, eggs, etc.

  3. Ya'll coming out to visit would definitely qualify as being a great time for putting together a serious mini-VV!

Lotus, myself & many others were really looking forward to meeting ya'll... Yr cupcakes & amazing cooking were also sorely missed!

Thanks for sharing the awesome pic's! McConnell's Mill State Park rates very highly on my western PA places to visit list. Lotus hiked there when she was a kid & speaks fondly of it.

  4. That's just wrong. I would still choose to live off plants. And instead I would share my food with the animals.

Tasha, are ya familiar enough with wild edible's here in Cascadia to live off of them? I'd love to learn how to do that!

  5. Hiya!

I'm husband to Lotus & daddy to our 3 awesome & vegan since before they were born children. I'll let Lotus reply to most of your questions but wanted to add that I'm also very happy to see anouther vegan parent here - there's more of us all the time! It would definitely be great to have your family (and more families & kids in general) come out for Vegan Vacation 2008!

  6. Veganism has only become fairly common in the United States over the past 10 years or so and that even now most people in this country have no idea what vegan means and are VERY meat centered in their diets. Even many folks who are familiar with the word vegan do not fully understand the concept...

But things are changing and getting better quickly here. I'm sure that Greece, Spain and the rest of the world will see the same positive changes too!
