Glad to hear that everyone stayed safe Steve!

Billy,
I'd love to hear about yr New Zealand travels! When were ya there? Got any photos of yr NZ travel that ya can share? NZ is one of my top choices of places to travel - #1 if I didnt have to worry about $, time, etc. It strikes me as being very similar to Cascadia in most ways - did ya get this impression?

Thanks for sharing the photos - the food looks tasty!

I've now had my first work-out at the gym. I did a Pilates class with Lotus - this was quite a workout & left me sore in some spots for several days. I also wandered around confused about how to use many of the machines & such. I'll read up on stuff here & in books but I do a lot better with a person who can help me get started...

Hola y Bienvenidos! What part of AZ are ya from?

Yay for New Moon Massage! The space is very pleasant and relaxing - Lotus is doing her first massages there right now!

Perhaps - but Sergio & the post are gone now so we may never know...

Michael pretty much exactly expressed my opinion on the issues around global warming.

loveliberate: That's great. I hope you make it up here. I'd love to meet up. I'll have to put some recommendations together for you, including cheap, free, and fun stuff. There's always tons of hiking, if you're into that. Lots of neat stuff to see in the city.
I make it up there as often as I can! I love visiting Seattle. I definitely enjoy hiking - with the crew I'll be coming up with & our time limitations, we'll need to stick to shorter, easier, close-in hikes. Any favorite wooded parks along the sound with views across to the Olympics?

Rawj,
Great idea for a discussion topic - travel is one of my favorite things to talk about! I love to travel & do so as often & as widely as I can. I strongly encourage that others do the same. I think about travel pretty much constantly & do a LOT of travel related reading/researching. I've traveled extensively in much of the US + a lil' bit in British Columbia, Canada & parts of NW Mexico - primarily Sonora. I've primarily traveled with little to no money, living out of a vehicle or my pack - dont let $ limitations hold ya back too much, esp. in the US or Canada.
Some general advice:
- Very few people truly explore or appreciate their own regions - dont make the same mistake! Here in Cascadia, we live in an amazingly awesome region with some of the best nature & most vegan-friendly places you'll find anywhere on the planet.
- Take things slowly: Enjoy the journey as much as the destinations, experience places for extended periods of time, live like a local - preferably by living with locals.
- For travel info, Wikipedia & Lonely Planet guides are great. To meet folks, I suggest giving these a try: http://www.couchsurfing.com - http://www.hospitalityclub.org
Beyond that, tell me more about your interests & I'll share some more suggestions.

Hola y Bienvenidos Bodhi!
I've lived in Eugene before - maybe someday I'll live in CR, it sure seems pretty dang awesome. What was it like moving down there?

Dang you longhair - I said positive peer pressure!

Looks like ya'll will have a great gathering - Please be sure to take lots of photos to share with us!

I think I saw that sign too. It's upsetting how many places have been built or rebuilt just along Division in the past 2 years alone. Not a one of them seems to be particularly affordable...
-
I'll look forward to yr intro then Scrodhi! I'd love to chat with ya about CR - it's on my families shortlist of places to visit & seems like a great place to live too.

Billy & all ya Seattle folks,
There's a chance that my family & I will come up to Seattle next month with a friend visiting us from Mexico. It'd be great to do a meet up! I'd appreciate yr suggestions of stuff to do & see, etc while we're up there - particularly free/cheap options.
Ps. Unless I was bringing a car, I'd personally probably just take the boat from Seattle directly to Victoria.
-
Hmmm, I wonder what you had yr mind on when ya took those photos....I only chose the ones where you show your ass and neck. -
Lotus & I now have 24 Hour fitness center memberships - YAY! Lotus is far more motivated & educated on fitness related issues than I. She inspires me & is awesome in so many ways!
Anyway, here's the main reason for this post - I need help! For so many reasons, I want/need to get in better physical condition & I need help breaking bad mental & physical habits that have gotten in my way in the past. I generally respond best to positive peer pressure - esp. face to face but help on here is great too. I'll post more later on all of this later but please contact me directly if yr up for helping me get more mentally focused & physically fit!

Yay Josh!
