  1. Metaphysics, in my opinion, falls more under the category of religion. Different philosophies, however, can change it's definition. For example: Plato's Idealism states that there exists a perfect world in which there is a perfect form of every living thing, respectively, the world of ideas. The visible world is, therefore imperfect. This is more of a belief. On a sidenote...23 Now if only an atheist were to comment here...
  2. Hmmm...very interesting My interpretation: In a way all religions are sacred but the corruption found within many of them makes you think otherwise. Absorb some of these quotes by Aleister Crowley: “If one were to take the bible seriously one would go mad. But to take the bible seriously, one must be already mad.” “The joy of life consists in the exercise of one's energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die. The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal.” “I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning.” “In the absence of will-power the most complete collection of virtues and talents is wholly worthless.” http://en.thinkexist.com/quotes/aleister_crowley/ You're in
  3. I've always wanted to try capoeira but I can't find any classes here in SoFla. I wanted to take it to improve my flexibility. It'll be especially helpful in competitions.
  4. Well said. You totally owned me. " title="Applause" /> That pretty much knocked my soy doubts out of the window. Now if anyone else could reply to my post on oxalates... viewtopic.php?t=2873
  5. I've skimmed it but have never really studied it in depth. One of my beliefs that I believe would fit in with theosophy is that all religions are worshipping the same entity/deity. They are just looking at the same idea from different points of view. I always like to share this idea with people: polytheism just takes the qualities belonging to the omnipotent God and splits them up in the form of smaller/lesser gods. I originally jumped into metaphysics because I found myself being drawn away from Catholicism. This, oddly enough, happened after I left Catholic school. I began to feel that there was something missing. Then I (sorry if I offend anyone) began to notice how corrupt many forms of organized religions are. And that's when I began studying metaphysics and later various religions and the occult.
  6. I really feel at home on this forum. When my friends heard about my decision to become vegan they essentially said... No more meat?!? It's the end of the world!! You're not going to last more than a month ...P***y What about protein? You NEED meat to survive
  7. check it out viewtopic.php?t=2887
  8. I've studied a few metaphysical disciplines and am into the occult. Yoga Astrology meditation (Yogic, buddhist) Books of the apocrypha Thelema numerology a variety of different religions anyone else into metaphysics?
  9. I have a background in american Kenpo and am currently studying Aikido, ju-jitsu, ken-jitsu, and Atemi arnis under Grandmaster Dr. Philip Chenique. I've always wanted to try Capoeira, though. In addition to martial arts I go into very deep meditation. I've been somewhat able to channel my body's energy into my attacks (Kundalini, chi (or ki), etc) and I'm getting better at it every day. I warn those who want to try it: it takes a long time to train your body to do this. For those who open there chakras, if done wrong you can create an imbalance in your body. In short, meditation really helps when done right. If abused or done wrong. You can really mess yourself up. www.atemi-ryu.com
  10. I saw the pics. They look delicious...must...eat
  11. It's not a supplement. It's a chemical that is found in plants. It occurs naturally and when attached to calcium can form kidney stones. I was hoping to find further info on them.
  12. All of the bread in the stores are made with milk! I love to cook and have no problem making one that's vegan friendly. Now if I only had a recipe...
  13. Scary stuff... http://www.mercola.com/2005/aug/30/soy_ruled_no_health_food.htm
  14. Oxalic acid (chemical formula HOOC-COOH) is a strong organic acid which is widely distributed in nature in both plants and animals. However, plants contain more than animals. . Oxalic acid has the ability to form a strong bond with various minerals, such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. When this occurs, the compounds formed are usually referred to as oxalate salts. Thus, “oxalate” usually refers to a salt of oxalic acid, one of which is calcium oxalate. Although both sodium and potassium oxalate salts are water soluble, calcium oxalate is practically insoluble, which is why calcium oxalate, when present in high enough levels, has the propensity to precipitate (or solidify) in the kidneys or in the urinary tract to form calcium oxalate crystals. Calcium oxalate crystals, in turn, contribute to the formation of kidney stones. Approximately 75% of all kidney stones are composed predominantly of calcium oxalate. For reasons not yet fully understood, women have a much lower incidence of kidney stones than men. Has anyone ever heard about them? 15. I recently decided to become a vegan for health reasons. I then discovered how animals are treated, the effects of meat on the body, and I was shocked. My name is Leo and I'm 18. I've been into health and exercise since I was 14. I started caring about my body because I was really overweight. I dropped an insane amount of bodyfat (gradually of course) and I looked good and felt good. Now I'm 5'11'' and weigh around 210 lbs. I'm not a bodybuilder I'm a bodysculpter. I'm heavily into meditation and the occult. And veganism will keep my body pure. I do Yoga and am studying Rei-ki.
