  1. I like the Jason range of products, and the aloe vera body rub, also good for toning the skin
  2. Are there any stores in europe that stock Vega? I just found a UK site that sells Vega. http://www.thinknatural.com/brand.php?selBrand=Vega http://www.gvtc.co.uk/vega/acidophilus.html Any more?
  3. Plyometrics is easy and fun, if you are in a group and do taibo or kickboxing or similar (could I .. dare I .. say aerobics?), even all(?) martial arts (except basic tai chi), although alone its a real bore. Your right that people need to focus on their activity. Flipping thru a mag might give people ideas to do new things, and see what their body responds to indeed. All the gyms push out the same old exercises, so why not?! But gyms don't offer diets, and that is one reason why I think people don't grow. With a concentrated diet - people putting on 1 lb of muscle a month, is what I have read is the going rate. But thats also from a meat eaters point of view. I don't know any points of view from vegan or nonflesh eaters. Can I, for instance, get bigger just flexing my muscles? If I isolate one muscle, and flex it for 15 reps, rest and do two more sets, what will happen? Doing this while bulking say with good food. (I try to stear clear of the word bulking, because so many people get confused that you have to diet afterwards because of fat. Just keep on looking after your body).
  4. That baking soda idea is quite ingenious, although the side effects preempt my immediate dip into it. But its like epsom salts and cod liver oils, is it not? I stretch out my aches and pains whilst breathing, and for me that releases the lactic acid, I believe. When I don't eat for a while, its really noticeable how my energy levels drop. Like it wants to shut down. Is this just from a lack of proteins? Anything I eat boosts me. Fried food doesn't give me the edge that I feel with raw food. Its like it allows my body to do something else, or observe it. Is it because the body must spend more time on digestion and assimilation? The proteins .. acids .. Trying to hunt down the links!
  5. I thought the good ones were in a (..nonmeatfree?) shell that only melted as it got into the intestines. But it looks like I'll be making my own now! Thanks artystik.
  6. Whats wrong with pollen? Enlighten me please. Why isn't it vegan? Bee pollen is bee poo, not of the bee, but passed from the bee, and bees are vegans too. I am a learning and near practising bee-keeper. But I don't understand why you said that Odidnetne or Tasha.
  7. Is there anyone here who believes its possible to get more muscular without actually lifting dumb weights? I only ask, because when working out lifting, sometimes nothing happens, and I believe that this is because we are facing some internal stumbling block, or external. And no matter how much you rep and burn, nothing really is happening because the focus is elsewhere. The Real focus. Or is it something to do with the body readjusting somehow? How? Why?
  8. The allium family includes onion, garlic, chive, leek, and shallot, and all very tasty. And all types of bulbous layered root.
  9. I know that a great man, a long time ago, never ate beans, "preventing acute hemolytic anemia in individuals with a hereditary deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in their red blood cells". So if your anaemic, then find out more. If not .. read on. Pythagoras was heard saying he did not eat beans because they reminded him of human cells,, more exact, "because they are like genitals" which I dont believe, I'm not sure how many of those he has eaten, hmm awareness of beans stemming "from reverence for life", as a foetal nucleus, nah, memories live on regardless of hat we consume. all above quoted from http://users.ucom.net/~vegan/beans.htm I'm not sure, but I think it was a bit more down to earth, and that a bean represented a whole plant, so you could eat 100 beans to fill your belly, or those 100 beans could be grown into plants for another 100 meals. Can you eat a bean plant? Do beans build up muscle tissue, are they just about protein?
  10. sea vegetables?! Is that like sea cucumbers, sea carrots and sea potatoes? Or more like yeah I saw it and i ate it!! Problem!! Naahh, no problem! I sea it and I eat it..
  11. Cosgrove Quote "I think it was Christian himself who once made an excellent point that you can really only gain two pounds of lean mass per month. I agree with that. So what's the best way to max that out?" Christian Thibaudeau "Under the best possible circumstances (perfect diet, training, supplementation, and recovery strategies) the average male body can manufacture between 0.25 and 0.5 pounds of dry muscle tissue per week. That is the amount your natural body chemistry will allow you to build. So we're talking about around one or two pounds per month. It may not sound like much, but that can add up to twelve to twenty pounds over one year of training." Where do they get these computations? What experience of mass building do you have, from your log books of course? While it's true that if you aren't consuming enough nutrients your muscle growth will be impaired, it doesn't necessarily mean that the more you eat the more you grow. Actually, it is true: the more you eat the bigger you'll get. However, this doesn't mean that you'll become more muscular! This will answer a lot of vegan vs. meateaters questions. Does insufficient protein intake will slow down muscle growth? What is it about bodybuilding that causes more lactic acid accumulation and therefore more fatigue? Is this true? Is there a counterbalance? Can you do a detox while building, or 'passify' that acid on the go?
  12. Ok with the columns, it looks ok, with two side by side. (I wonder what it will look like posted). But there are 4 columns. Its quite a varied feast you've got there. Can we nudge it up a bit? I like chick peas (hummous) and lentils very much. You have a lot of soy/milk protein drinks. Can we include coconut milk, or other non dairy milks? What is in a vegan pancake? I've never heard of soy jerky - any links? Sounds like a meat product, is there a substitute, like dry figs? Vegan pizza, I guess the base is made with the same ingredients as the pancake. Is that tortilla beans or tortilla bread? Refried beans? I guess nonstarch toast, wholemeal or ..? Burritos yumm! Any chance of a few more salads? There are mixes of chinese and mexican ingredients on your list, which is making my mouth water a little, (have to back off from the computer a bit, otherwise I might get my own fried without grease fingers.) Any more ingredients? If I was going to go on this diet, I'd need an ingredients list. The vitamins, minerals and multivitamin supplements, powders, are many. Is there any way to remove these supplements, by way of adding other foods? or exchanging them? What vitamins do you need? As you have very many in your diet already. Or is this just caution, and you want to include more, just in case? Minerals? Which ones do you want to ingest? What are their roles? Whats Glutamine good for, and does it come in other foods? Are you talking about building up fat reserves, or stuff to turn in muscle?
  13. Robert, I'm interested in your 3 recipes there. Can you tell me why the time shift from 3 to 2 hours between eats? Is the first a general plan? It would be nice to line them up beside each other, so that I can get more insight from them. Lets have a try..
  14. Don't stop drinking water! I think its best to concentrate on other areas, instead of trying to lose weight/fat/skin, its better to visualise what you do want. Look in the mirror couple a times a week, and also do stretches, especially your spine - you can gain a few inches height, and also lose the stomach instantly - its a question of posture, which if you do often enough, will become second nature. Don't slump. It takes time to retrain the body to work differently, and not sloppily, that is .. if you find thats happening to you. Yoga is good, especially exercises twisting the top body half, but slowly whilst breathing. Twisting the abs, also helps to stretch them out, after situps. To get a sixpack, do situps x3 (or more), feet should be hip/shoulder length apart (whichever is more comfortable) and firmly on the ground, but for each rep have your legsandfeet further away from your bottom. Use weights to keep them on the ground if you have to.
  15. A while ago, there were some runners in a race, and the organiser insisted that they be fed spaghetti only, and said this was what gives them the strength to go the next day for the whole marathon. Spag with butter on it, sounds bland, but did taste nice before I got my tastebuds back. I know that fried stuff hasn't much in it, as it never gives me much energy as the raw, you know chips and cheesy stuff, vs the broccoli and juices. Having a zinger like ginger/ginseng/garlic in your drink makes me really focused, like I'm on a mission. It really puts me in the mood to do something. For a real treat, you should try gazpacho, its spanish, and the best juice I had tried, I used to think. What surpises me in your diet, Robert, is how many times you have to eat to put on mass. Thats quite surprising, of course, but I guess working out with the areas at the same time as where you want to put the weight, is the general idea of that programme, correct me if I'm wrong. If your just looking for recipes, try: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/vegetarian-lentil-burgers-recipe.html
  16. Thanx and all to everyone. Since I have been here I have got rather motivated, and now have a warm fuzzy feeling inside of me making me go all gooey. Plus I have started eating more fruit, much more fruit. I would have posted back sooner, but with work and all, its time consuming. Look, Robert, about the t's, I was only having a bit of fun, but if someone wanted to send me one, I would take a picture of it and me (most probably wearing it!) at a fantastic location and post it here, but I don't fancy going all nutty on the idea, if BigBwii reads this please tell him I'm a bit shy about being forward like that, and I wouldn't want to impose... Hey Tommy, lovely idea, although I think going to tatouine (with Pythagoreans) would be preferable, rather than getting tattoos on your bod. But, your call. Flanders, Greece is a lovely place, although there is a lot of negative stuff here too. Please contact me, I would respond (give me time). I will most probably will be here, so if you need anything, say so. hopefully thats likewise if I come to de. I have travelled to Munich, Hamburg, and around, incl Berlin before the wall, and even did a scribble on it, also went to the east side, and then also after the wall came down, the change was incredible! Theres still a few places I would like to go see there too. Cheers Offense, I have been to gothenburg many times, its a good place. Michelle - Does that club have membership or an internet site? Thanks JW (Do you really support THAT team?!!!)
  17. Hi all, I have a been a vegetarian all my life except for 6 months when I thought I ould try meat out when I was 16, after just leaving school and going underworld. There were odd occaisions when someone put some food in front of me, usually unknowing relative, and taking a bite, and I do believe I might have had a plate of something younger, not knowing what it was, with noone else to advise me I was none the wiser. I used to work out, but I've never had biceps like Robert, (You The MAN!). My arms and legs have been nice and tight, and breasts too. Girls love it when I made them dance to a tune, (and my breasts). I find it very hard to get motivated presently, mainly because of my envionment, and untidy mind. It doesn't help that I live in a help where everyone eats meat. I am an englishman in the middle of greece, and everyone here thinks meat is what makes people grow. I am in better health than most of the people in Greece, but I guess they think my case isn't worth noticing. Mind you they ate the indian/chinese food I made for them, twice! I love action, but I also loved pumping my muscles more. I found that it also helped to clear my mind, and help give me focus. The constant tearing of muscle feels so beautiful after only 5 minutes of hard painful work. The friends I made at the gym kept me going, and eventually I got some of my own stuff and carried on at home, doing more than the standard 3 days at the gym. I have done many detoxes, of which I prefer fruit the best, including Jason Vales stuff. The hardest part is that there isn't a hardest part. Meal times are shorter, and we don't all sit down together, and we only eat/drink when we are feeling hungry, which isn't often. I find the no this or that rather negating the fact that you are eating just good stuff! I have biked the London to Brighton 3 times, and done countless other bike trips, exceedingly the 200 mile mark, over a few days, which are great fun. I have run a few marathons and half marathons. I have swam to La Rochelle once, without fins! I love scuba diving, and wish I could do more. That was all over 5 years ago. I just wish I could get back on track. I practise tai chi occaisionally, have spent a few years in Tae Kwon Do, some in Jiu Jitsu, done some time boxing (when very young). On religion, I'd go with the Pythagorean religion, but did it die, or is it hiding still? I moved house frequently from 7 years ago, nearly every 6 months. Now I have been living out of boxes for the past two years. My weights are somewhere, but I dont have the space presently. You know I would really like to get myself a tshirt with 'Fruity Body Builder' or 'Fruity Fitness Team', or even a vegetarian one at that. I could wear vegan if I'm fruiting couldn't I? But what about when i return to that veg'etari'an mode? Any chance? LOL. At the moment I am servicing and modding my F650 Strada into a Funduro, with aluminium and wiremesh, and also a rear TKC80 and front MT21. I want to get into paragliding and windsailing.
