http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dailydish/2008/11/small-bites-mon.html A new upscale vegan option: There's a new vegan menu at XIV restaurant, SBE's Michael Mina venue on Sunset Boulevard, in addition to the regular (for fish and meat eaters) and vegetarian menus. The concept is still design-your-own tasting menu, with everyone at the table having to agree on what to eat ...

So the snow in England is crazy at the moment! I was snowed in on Monday, but still got in trouble at work for not going in! Some of work colleagues walked in... what a bunch of ass kissers lol The way I see it, we havnt had snow like this in maybe 10 years, why not just take advantage, stay at home, & be warm & cosy!

I just wanted to mention that I am visiting St. Petersburg, Florida next week, and I found out they have a couple of good vegan places to eat near the Bay area. They are both literally within blocks of the boutique hotel I am staying at. The first place is an organics restaurant moderately priced, Central Avenue Organics. The other vegan option is a new vegan hotdog cart that is right near their movie theater, and they have vegan philly cheese steaks, hotdogs, etc. Last time I visited in October 0f 2010 I was unable to find any vegan options, so this time I am pretty happy that I will be able to eat.

Hey PDX, When do you want to do another meet-up? I will be leaving town on the 10th or 11th of September but I'm pretty open/flexible until then. I'm super busy in general, but by flexible, I mean I'm in Oregon, rather than somewhere else. What should we do? Food? Training? Trip? Hang out? Movie? etc.? Thanks! Who's up for doing something soon? Ideas?

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about flying over to The USA again next month. I have a mate who's moving up to Portland soon and thought about going to visit him. I would fly into LA and might spend some time there too, before going up to Portland. I'm trying to work out where I would stay. There's a chance I can stay with my mate, but if not I'll need to find somewhere fairly inexpensive to stay in Portland. At this stage I'm open to suggestions anywhere in the city. Somewhere in a good central location or with easy access to public transport. I'd also like to get a bit of time in the gym to keep things going while I'm there, so if anyone could recommend any gym…

I got this e-mail...anyone have any suggestions? Hey man, My girlfriend and I are visiting Portland at the end of May and I'm trying to find a really nice/romantic place to stay. Any ideas? During the days we'll be doing the vegan, nature, fun, and low-key tour but at night I'd like a fancier place. Are there nice hotels/neighborhoods you'd recommend?

I was wondering if any of you have veganized pulla. My parents had an exchange student before I was born ( also known as their Finnish son). and ever since, pulla has been a holiday tradition in our house. when I was little my mom, my brother and I would make it together and before I went vegan I would pick it up from a local Finnish store that sold it fresh. the smell just brings back so many memories. the hardest part about veganizing it seems to be the egg wash you put on top. any suggestions on substitutions for this wash or any vegan recipes would be awesome! thanks
