Hey there. I was doing a search for vegan fitness and found this place. I ordered the dvd that just came out (which looks absolutely fabulous) and joined this forum, which looks really nice so far. I'm really excited about getting the dvd! I'm a married 31 year old with two stepsons that live with us, ages 7 & 9. I'm also a mama to a 14 year old cat named Crystal. I'm an inventory control analyst at a grocery warehouse and my passions include hiking, taking walks on the beach (we live two blocks from Lake Michigan), mountain biking, kayaking, strength training, reading, watching good movies and learning about animals (anything and everything about animals, a…

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, but have been hanging out on veganfitness for a bit now and like it tremendously. I'm slowly getting back into bodybuilding after having suffer a very serious injury of a broken back and then surgery to rebuild the vertebrea. The only limitations I have is my own lack of discipline! I've moved down here to Grand Cayman from Philadelpha in Dec. to get out of the city and away from the stresses of my career as a television director up there. I'm a televsion director at the tiny little station down here (cayman 27) and was also hired to act as sort of a consultant, so to speak, to bring up the quality and look of their newscasts…

I'm not new to the forum, but I just moved to Milwaukee. Is there anybody that might be able to hook up for some workouts every now and again? Weightlifting has never been my main focus, but I have done plenty in the past when I didn't have kickboxing to worry about. Heck, it would be great if anybody would be down for doing some boxing drills with me too.

I've spent a fair bit of time reading through your many posts on a lot of different subjects and I must say, even before introducing myself, you guys are a very special group of people. Your sensitivity, compassion and zest for life come through clearly in your interactions with each other. What a great international community!! It probably has something to do with the diet... Well, I switched to a vegetarian diet about 4 months ago and have been fighting the desires ever since although I find the sight and smell of flesh ing now. Good thing. I switched to a veg. diet because of the spiritual path that I have been on but perhaps more on that later. I'm into worki…

Greetings all, long term carnivorous fat guy looking to make a major change in the new year here. In 1987 I was 6 foot tall and 135lbs. Yes, really. No muscle mass at all. Today I'm 6 foot tall and 300lbs. Yes, really. 36 year old husband and father of three in Cincinnati Ohio, still in a blue funk after my bengals, and my quarterback, got eliminated sunday. I've got a personal trainer I'm going to be working with shortly with the goal of building muscle mass, endurance and especially core strength and flexibility. I'm pondering going whole tofu hog and going full vegan as well. For the record, I am a carnivore. I am contemplating a vegan diet purely for health …

Hi everyone Love the site here. It's great to see vegans into bodybuilding. We seem to have a reputation of being super skinny and whatnot. I've been a vegan for a little over 2 years now and it was definitely the best decision I ever made. I just started weightlifting a few months ago and hope I can stick with it this time. So far so good though. I'm enjoying it a lot and I believe that being vegan is actually helping me with it. Well anyway I just wanted to introduce myself. You seem like a great group of people. Take care Brendan

Hi everyone! My name is Sam. I lve in Victoria B.C. which is north of Seattle. I am 36 years old and have been vegan for almost 5 years. My partner has been vegan for 16 years! We are fortunate to live in a city that is relatively vegetarian/vegan friendly. I have worked out in the past, but now that I have found this site have become much more inspired. I look forward to getting to exchange idea and nutrition information here.

Hi!!! I'm very happy to meet you all! My name is Samantha, I'm 30 and I live in Italy. I work as a fitness instructor in a gym and I'm studying to improve myself in this job I love. I think of fitness in an "olistic" way: being healthy is feeling healthy and looking healthy. This is why I like body building and yoga in the same way! I've been a vegetarian for 10 years, and I'm going towards veganism now. I have to say it is not easy in Italy: the idea "muscles = meat" is very strong here. I am sooooo happy I met veganrunners, veganfitness and veganbodybuilding!!!! I can eventually speak to people who UNDERSTAND!!! I'd love to compete in fitness, but I can't fin…

Hi, my name is Rom, I am 26 and live in the greater Sacramento area. I am a French national and work as a software engineer. I have been vegan for 8 years, and recently (1-2 years ago) started worrying about my health, which spurred my interest in martial arts, and also free running (parkour). One of my favorite books is Thrive by Brendan Brazier, which really helped me get to the next level. I hope I'll be able to exchange and learn from all the great people on this forum. Rom

Fave artists: Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Gorillaz! Fave films: Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, The Matrix I, The Godfather I&II. Fave exercise: deadlift! Fave food: all natural foods. I guess I will try this again. I wrote a long post a moment ago and posted it and then nothing. Poof, it was gone! Ah well..here goes again! Hi everyone.. I just found this site today and I am tickled! My name is Kerry and I am a 42 year old female who has been a vegetarian for over 18 years. During that time I was also fat..VERY fat. During the last 9 months I have lost 130 pounds and developed a real love of body building. I also decided I want to eliminate all dairy products from my diet and go the Vegan route. I did it a few years ago and I loved how I felt when I followed a Vegan diet. Now that I have lost the "scale weight" I am hoping to start transform…

well, i was told to introduce myself ,so i guess i'll do that=| name's muhaha, that's all you need to know, been vegan since i was 3 or 4, now i'm 18, recently i found out that i take pride in my belief, domestication of animals causes problems=bse, avian flu, whatnot plus the fact that i want people to know that muscles do grow from vegan diets and shut them all up whoever said that you can't live without meat, well it just causes global warming hahaha that's why i started training like crazy and i hope i'll achieve the perfect body in 5 years

hi everyone, i'm not a body-builder, at least not since i took a body-sculpting class (or whatever it was called) back in 1994 or '95. but, compassionategirl told me to sign up over here, after a post on veganfitness, so here i am. i've been vegan since '94 and athletic since my teen years (I'm 31 now). i've had back problems and running related injuries in recent years and feel that building my muscular system would help prevent injuries and support my skeletal system (which would help with my scoliosis). so, this site should help me out. i've also got a fitness room at the office with some free-weights and a few machines. in other news, i maintain websites fo…

Hello I am newly vegetarian/vegan. One week to be exact. I have had a headache since. Is that withdrawal from animal proteins? lol I also am doing a body building program which I've been doing since 1 November this year. I'm following BFFM. I am doing this mainly for fat loss but I also want to gain muscle at the same time. I am female and weigh 194 lbs and am 4'11" so I have a lot of weight to lose. I have type 2 diabeties and early stages of kidney disease because I did not control my diabetes (both of which are under control now) which is why I have gone to vegetarian/vegan. I am using a soy protein powder which I am having twice a day as a protein shak…

Hi there, If seafood were a vegetable I could be vegan. I love my salmon, canned tuna and shrimp...mmmm....shrimp. I am not a dairy fan nor do I care for much of it as it causes me to feel like crap. I'd love to hear some reasons for giving up fish and I'm open to change...

Hi I'm Deanna, I've been a vegan since August of 2004. I never loved meat, but enjoyed poultry and fish, then got ill after a family vacation. We ate a lot of meat and little veggies (long story.) I came home cranky, tired and craving brown rice and veggies. I gave up refined sugar and all animal products that day and never looked back. I lost 50lbs in the first 7 months. I still have about 10 lbs to go, but would be happy just building muscle and losing more inches. I'm not toned. I used to run quite a bit but my diet was so horrible, the whole routine was exhausting. I did the whole high protein weight lifting thing a few years back while weight training. I was misera…

Since I just registered and posted to another thread (had to put in my two cents about mock chicken salad!), I thought it would be polite to introduce myself. I'm Kathryn (as you can see, I don't have much imagination--or memory--when it comes to user names). I became a vegetarian ( cold turkey, or "cold tofu," if you prefer) in 1976, and have been almost vegan since then. Went all-the-way vegan (with a few lapses) in 1990 after attending an AR conference in Milwaukee, WI, where I attended sessions by Neal Barnard and Ingrid Newkirk. I am an avid "home exerciser" aka "vidiot" (weight training, kickboxing, step, functional fitness) and belong to a couple of other …

I've been surfin' this site and the boards for the past month or so now and wanted to say hello to everyone. And also, thanks for all the great information and inspiration... My name's David Forrest, I'm from Portland, Oregon, currently going to school at Occidental College in LA, California. I've been a longtime vegetarian, off-and-on vegan for the past couple of years. But now I'm deciding to stick with it, thanks greatly to a lot of the success and motivation I have found here. Always been built pretty small at 5'9", 125 lbs, but have been trying to get bigger...people told me I wasn't getting enough protein. I had been turning to protein bars that contained c…

Hey, my real name is Chris. I'm from Toronto. I'm not really a bodybuilder, but I do alot of strength training because of my involvement in mixed martial arts (jiu-jitsu, boxing, muay thai). I'm not a vegan yet, but am on my way! My goal is to eliminate all animal products over the next month. Currently I just free range eggs and drink the occasional glass of organi milk, as well as whey shakes (too many!). My other interests are classical lit, and I'm trying to teach myself ancient greek right now, because I don't do drugs or drink or watch television so I have too much free time! I'm also a writer and have publsihed some poems here and there and will be coming out with a…

Greetings Everybody. My name is Michelle. I was a frequent visitor and finally registered to the site about a week ago. Due to my work and non-work schedule, I have not had time to properly introduce myself. I have a few moments, so I thought I would take a second to say hi. Robert introduced me to the site and I got hooked on it thanks to the great forums you guys and gals conduct. I have been on various other sites and visited forums that really turned me off because the people were, to put it politely, a bit immature and rather close minded. Your forums show a diverse and open group of people, so I registered to the site and am posting my first forum topic. …

I found this site a few months a go and I just realized there was a forum. Awesome place for information. People always make the general assumption that vegans and vegetarians are skinny sickly and weak individuals, people never believe I'm a vegetarian, they say I don't look it. Now, when I encounter someone with such misconception I refer them to this site. I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Ed, I'm 25, Engineering student, I live in Los Angeles, work as a computer geek sometimes, sometimes I work in security. I have been a vegetarian for only 3 years and currently becoming a full on vegan. I've had the ethical dilemma of eating meat since I was 16…
