Hi, my name is Tristan, I live in the north east of England... I'm a Vegan I've been a vegan since September 2002. I'm not really in very good shape (does computer programming) but I can still outrun my friends, which is cool coz they the ones that always tellin me you can't be fit if you don't eat dead animals. I have my own bench and lift in the comfort of my garden shed, sometimes I go to the local gym, it's called steel city, it's kind of cool, the man that owns it is a vegetarian and an animal rights person. I like to drink alcohol, i'm trying to cut it out of my life but it's hard when all my friends drink. Anyway hello everyone. Sorry for any bad grammar, I quit …

Hello! My name is Steve and I have been immersed in the world of veganism. I am a total bodybuilding enthusiast who had a 'phobia' of quitting eating meat. That was until I took the plunge and 'just did it.' Since then, I have dropped inches off my waist and I require less sleep at night. And my weight training is just as intense as ever! I am writing a book documenting my switch over to veggie protein. I sometimes eat dairy, but VERY rarely. I look forward to visiting with you all. Blessings!! I decided I should probably cease the lurking and sign up for the forums here. I'm a member over at vegan fitness, as well. I'm introducing myself as per compassionategirl's recommendation. So hm, a little run down: My name's Eva, I'm vegan, straight edge, and I'm just getting back into the gym after a long injury recovery from a bad lifting accident that was one part my own stupidity and one part the worst spotter in the entire world. I'm a real lame-ass. I like to take homeless people for dinner. I tutor English writing, French, and English lit in my spare time, and I'm known to leave stacks of vegan pancakes on friends' windowsills, and boxes of cookies on door…

I'm trying to post an avatar and the limit is apparently 6 k. This leaves me with an image about the size of my baby fingernail even at low res. I downloaded someone's avatar, opened it in Photoshop and it was 47 k! No fair!

Hi! I'm Jennifer from San Francisco; I've been reading the articles and board for awhile, but had some downtime at work so I figured I might as well take the 5 minutes and officially join the community. I've been a vegetarian since 14, and tried to be vegan while I was a starving student (literally) in college. But I didn't do a very healthful job, so I went back to being veg. for years. Now I am a teacher and am vegan again, and love living in the SF Bay Area because we have a lot of locally grown organic produce at our fingertips. I've been training with weights for a year, on and off, and recently just got very focused about reducing my body fat %. I'm petite …

I know, I don't belong here. But I just recently came across this board and people here are way more mature than the other bodybuilding board. I know for a fact this board will help me more with the information that I seek. Anyways, just wanted to say HI! And...if it helps I plan on only eating seafood when it comes to meat.

i'm david out of pittsburgh, pennsylvania. usually post on veganfitness.net under the same name (don't hang out there unless you want to get turned into a powerlifter). vegan for almost 6 years. i pretty much just like lifting weights and gripwork. my biggest goal is to stay injury-free as have been ravaged by the injuries over the last 3 years and have not progressed strengthwise to my liking. hoping to deadlift 375-400 by the end of the year. seems to be more way more Americans on this board as we are grossly underrepresented over on .net. or maybe its just that the Brits are overrepresented (loudmouths) cheers, david

Hello, I see many familiar names and faces from veganfitness.net, where I have been a usual at for a year and a half or so. Finally made it over to this forum, and now I have two vegan weightlifting sites to browse instead of working. To those of you I don't know, my name is Tyler, and I am from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I went veggie at 16 and have been vegan for maybe 5 or 6 years, I don't really remember (I am 25 now). I live with my longtime (7 years) girlfriend Larissa, who I went vegan with at the same time. I am into lifting for strength, and also train martial arts; Jeet Kune Do, Pentjak Silat and Kali.

Hey Fellow Veg-Heads!!! ) I'm Shelby, I'm 19, and have been a vegan since I was 12. I've been seriously weightlifting for about 2 years, yet still desperately need to bulk up! P I am a Personal Trainer and full-time student, studying to be a nurse. My crazy pets are my life and I love them to death! I live in Darien, IL, which is about 20 miles South of Chicago. My dream is to be a bodybuilder, but I have a long ways to go! Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself... I think it's awesome that this site is up, for I always get a hard time at the gym for being a vegan... it's nice to have people to talk with who share the same values and views and who wont tell me…

Right, if I get this bit wrong blame compassionategirl cos she told me to do it!!! A biologist and medical scientist by background; into (mainly) strength/power routines for 3 1/2 years using basically the following system: light warm-up, medium 2nd set, then power set for 1--3 reps, followed by still heavy but lighter set for about 10 reps. No more than two heavy sets per move, no more than two moves per bodypart, no more than one bodypart trained each 7--14 days--so lots of rest and high protein foods. This has taken me from 150lbs 3 years ago to 230lbs today and still growing. Age: 43 Height: 5'10" Weight 230lbs Chest 50" Arms 18 1/4" waist 34" Legs 26 1/2" Very li…

Hi, My name is Lisa and I am a 39 yr old Mom to three daughters. I have been vegetarian then vegan since 1987. I have tried raw, but wasn't feeling great. I do eat a large percentage of raw but do add some cooked. I have also been weight training on and off since the 80's. Different life events, having babies, finances, etc have kept me out of the gym. I have, though, always tried to keep an excercise program going when not in the gym. Two years ago my husband, girls and I relocated from NY to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Because of finances I have not been able to join the gym until last week. I am so excited to be back weight training and I can't wait to ge…

Hello everyone, My name is Alessandro, I have been a raw-vegan now for roughly a year and was vegan before that for several. Overall I find the treatment of animals in modern factory farms to be utterly deplorable and find myself compelled to relay the vegan message to those willing to listen. I started my vegan journey for moral reasons coupled with my obsession with nutrition and exercise. I decided to try the raw-vegan approach out of pure skepticism and found myself transformed in the process. I have been bodybuilding for 8 years and have gone through several changes physically in the process. I am lighter and slightly weaker than I was as a strict vegetarian but I a…

Hi! I'm not vegan and not a bodybuilder. In fact, I'm not even vegetarian - yet. But, that's the direction I'm headed in my health and fitness journey, and this seems like a really supportive bunch of people, so that's why I'm here. (Thanks to a couple of very cool guys who recruited me from myspace!) I've attempted several times to become vegetarian or vegan, but it's so difficult to do when everyone around me is not. Especially since I've moved to TX, where the general mindset is far from vegan. My best attempts were when I was just coming off of a fast (I've done the Master Cleanser for 10 to 14 days a few times now) but after a few weeks, it gets difficult. A…

Hiya, many of you on here will know me already, just thought I'd come up with a different username, so as to include Kiera, the li'l hooligan For those of you that don't know me - and wanna find out! - hiya! My name's Billy, I'm female tho - was named after Billy Idol at a time when I was walking round looking like a (sort of) lookalike of the geezer. Will be going to see him, finally, when he does a gig in Manchester in 3 weeks' time, hi hi! Other than that, I've been vegan for about 10 years and for a few years, up till about a year or so ago, well into fitness and weightlifting. I even made it to qualified fitness instructor! Alas, I then found out that condit…

Hello, I was always a skinny girl (albeit, not fit!) until I hit 30. Then I gained a few pounds. By 35, it was a few pounds more. By 40, even more. Five years ago I took time off with the intent to lose weight. I lost 35 pounds & was successful beyond what I imagined. Then I went back to work. My jobs have always been 50+ hours a week & I didn't weigh myself on a regular basis & within 2 years, I had gained over 50% of the weight back. Now? I have gained every pound back!! Arghhh!! IT IS DEMORALIZING!!!! Now, I finally (& deservedly so!) have a good paying part time job & am trying to lose all these d*mned pounds AGAIN! I love step aerob…

I'd rather be at the gym at this exact moment but I need one more day to recover. I've been vegan for 4-5 years. Used to be 238 or so and 36" waist. I went vegan and that peeled some weight off then started getting serious about being active and that dropped me down to about 168. I'm now up to about 185 and have kept a 30" waist or so with 14% bodyfat. I lift 2x a week, play soccer, football, dodgeball, and try to run sometimes. I'm 25 and working on a masters degree in education so I can teach social studies. Will turned me on to this forum. I think it'll be good for me to have some inspiration since I'm changing gyms tomorrow. My old one close up shop …

Hi. I'm not exactly a Vegan Bodybuilder, however, I am a Vegan who is very physically active and fit. I recognize it as pretty much the ideal diet for a number of reasons. Health, the environment, animal cruelty, etc. Despite not really being a bodybuilder, I do have some muscle type questions that I hope you'll be able to help me with. Here's my story: When I was 17, I weighed 240 pounds (6ft). That year, I started yoga and it somehow spurred my metabolism, which had remained sluggish through years of sports, into bringing me down to about 190 Pounds. Two years ago, I became a vegan (Pretty much on a mcdougall diet) due to the health benefits. I lost 10 pounds, bringi…
