In the UK, food has an official stamp on the packet, approved by the vegan society, or for veggies by the vegetarian society..it makes life much simpler! We have some similar labellings (e.g.) certified vegan, but its not mandatory. Also, I'm learning a lot of other information regarding hidden animal ingredients that don't have to be included in the ingredients--i'm typing up a blog entry about it...But, I"m getting off topic for this Thread..
