  1. If that doesn't fix the problem, I have 2 suggestions that wouldn't hurt.

Don't underestimate how stress can undermine the body's functions. Stess can build up in the muscles and maybe the tendons, and block healing. You might be able to rule this out if in the last 3 years you haven't had a more stressful environment(other than the injuries), and if you don't have problems with other muscles. I have a stressful personality that creates tension in the muscles, and moves around - usually accumulating around injuries.

Concerning rest, remember that if you over-eat, the body is rarely at rest and not recouperating. I thought of this one before I noticed your location.

  2. I've been on a juice feast for 3 days, and now the juice is tasting bad(I guess it's that detox symptom - metallic taste). I don't have other symptoms though.

I'm wondering if there's special things I should or shouldn't do, or drink or eat. I just started eating fruit again. Do I need to go back to juice to detox or can I eat fruit? I want to eat bananas for calories because I don't want to drink 4 quarts of juice a day. But I'll do what's best for this detox symptom. I've never had this symptom before, and I've detoxed many times over 15 years.

  3. I've discovered alot of raw food videos on youtube. It's fun because you can see and hear the people, and read the comments.

There's one person (rawdownunder) on a 4 month experiment that's going to end on Nov. 11. Then she'll be re-examined by professionals. She's made about 40 videos. Some are very eye-opening:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPYtBLcTh_4

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e85K27Ifu8o

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI6MwxduuUc

    From her main page:

    video diary

I have undertaken a supervised 4 month 100% Raw Food Challenge to collect clinical data on the effects raw food has on my emotional, mental and physical health. I have two local Naturopaths doing fortnightly and monthly testing using live blood analysis and recording what they find.

The results will be published in December with photographs and clinical diagnosis. I've started this vlog for two reasons. The first, is to have a video diary of the next 4 months for research purposes to track the emotional ups and downs in relation to what is happening physiologically. Second, is to share very honestly how I'm managing to stay committed to my goal. Fluctuations in energy levels and motivation included

  4. I think Wolfe is saying since there's polution and stressful modern living, we could use superfoods....from his site.Lol. I find superfoods cheaper at health stores.

    Matt Monarch's interview was remarkable!

I had many different strong emotions while watching. He was so open and genuine(stark contrast from the US presidential campaigns I've been watching).

I'm reminded of the song 2112 by Rush:

    I know its most unusual

    To come before you so

But Ive found an ancient miracle

I thought that you should know

    Listen to my music

And hear what it can do

Theres something here as strong as life

I know that it will reach you

  5. Are you saying the 2 party stranglehold is unbreakable and we should do nothing as another great society unravels?

If Mcain is elected, and is just like Bush, he will be impeached. Our country reallized to late that Bush shouldv'e been impeached. Now we know, and we will not and can not handle another 4 years.

Our porpose in this world is to learn to better ourselves and to do the right thing.

  6. RawLiving, decent post. It'd be nice if that would conclude this tired debate. But I don't think so.

Good ole' B12 argument....... It's like the cancer of the vegan community. If you think its a orally required vitamin, take a pill and stuff it.

And lets not start arguing about whether eating excrement is a "very important and critical" concideration. makes us all look crazay

  7. STOP!!!!!!!!

We are supposed to be above this. This is depressing to see vegans with closed minds.

The arguments being made against food-combining are similar to arguments against veg*nism made by uninformed people:

The effects of bad combinations are cumulative: It takes decades(its called "aging" by our ignorant society). The meals you eat today aren't what give you energy today.... again cumulative. Although, we should keep in mind that everyone is different. Some people do well dispite meat in every meal. They are the exeption.

Also, you have just as much chance of getting us to eat fruit in our meals and cook veggies, as meat-eaters have of getting you to eat meat.

In the same words I say to meat-eaters: If you don't want to do the research, fine, but don't say you know better than me.

  8. The mainstream media doesn't mention it much, but there's more than 2 parties. Those 2 parties keep it that way.

The Green party is there none the less. And they've picked a woman - Cynthia McKinney. http://www.gp.org I think this is the 1st time in US history that a woman actually is on the presidental ballot. so all those US women(51% of US) who've been saying for decades that a woman should be pres NOW have the opportunity. But they didn't take it with Hillary. I don't know why.

    http://guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/2008/09/ron-paul-endorses-green-party-other-3rd.html

    Quote from article

"To get major party status with public funding a party needs to win 5 percent of the vote. With all the alienated and angry voters in the nation this year, it could happen. "

Both Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader will be on the ballot in most states. In my view, a vote to save the country is a vote for a 3rd party (Green)!

If you don't vote, or live in a non swing-state, you can use your vote to promote a change from this 2 party duopoly over us.

On election day I'm going to watch the numbers and vote late - If the numbers aren't close I'll vote for a 3rd party(Green)

  9. Day 27 - 98% raw

What do you do when not eating

light Exercise in morning - half hr.

Then I get tired and watch Tv - 5 hrs a day

internet - 7 hrs a day. I got tired of reading so I started watching youtube videos of David Wolfe etc.

Listinging to music + Nothing - 2 hrs

    Work - 2 hrs

    I'm only doing light exercise.

I remembered that when I make up sleep, I'm tired the next day. And tiredness has always been a problem with me. And I guess this diet is creating the means for making up more sleep I'd been missing.

My sleep is now back to normal, and I'm feeling better.

Also, I realise I haven't been eating enough.

  10. Yesterday I wasn't tired, and while exercising, I made progress with a physical problem I have.

    Yesterday was rawesome!

Today: I'm not sore from my bigger than usual workout. We'll see how my energy is today.

    (most people here aren't 100%. I don't think it's all or nothing. I think it's all good.)

Balazs - I haven't done anything you said to not do.

I had raw carrots and lettuce coming off the 4 days of fruit. The next meal was raw yam and cauliflower. These are common raw foods for me.

I've been drinking a little herb tea. But I don't think the problem is specific foods. This always happens when I re-introduce heavier foods. Isn't that common?

Here's a pic of my kitchen yesterday

  11. I haven't posted in a few months(I've been busy. Moved back to California). But I've remained inthusiastic about health and food. I've been having fun eating melons, mangos, bananas, and finding which stores have what(also organic and good prices)

I didn't want the summer to go by without doing a big fruit + raw diet which I'm on now. But 1st, some background:

    Vegan for 14 years

    60% raw for 12 years

No junk food for 9 years.

I've done many fasts, and 3-day fruit diets.

For the last 18 days I've been 97% raw; 100% raw for the last 11 days. In the middle of it, I wen't 4 days with only fruit.(I've done 3 days many times in the last 12 years.)

I've had no detox symptoms or tiredness, and didn't lose any weight like with previous fruit diets. So I guess I'm really clean. And in the last 2 years, I have no body odor or bad breath.

On day 6 I had some veggies and bean sprouts, and the next day I was tired. I had some GED tests coming up, so I figured the only way to be alert for them was to go back to fruit. The tiredness went away and I got 95% in Math, 99% in reading.

A few days later I started with veggies again, and now I'm tired and irritable. I do these fruit diets to feel better, but after, I feel worse.

Is it still worth doing, since I don't need a detox?

Should I just find a balance(maybe 85% raw) and stay with that?(I don't want to stay 100% raw, but I respect people who are)

after going back to veggies, beans, ect, does the tiredness last longer if you've been eating only fruit longer?

  12. I was going to bring up doctors. I went to one for this in '93. Most doctors never consider stress. Some actually think (or want to think) that the mind and body aren't connected....duh, they're connected! - in every sense of the word. So, the doctor mis-diagnosed me(actually didn't find anything wrong), yet gave me drugs I didn't need(I didn't have a medical condition), and wasted money. It was upsetting to.

One technique for loosening muscles is to tense them for 5 seconds and relax them for 15. When you bench press, you may be tensing them a long time(straining them). And you may not completely relax after. Laying on my back kept my throat in pain; Laying on my side was much better. Also, stretch the throat by tilting the head back.

Another thing that relaxes the throat: talking, or yelling(or singing loudly with the stereo up high). - Great stress relever. I do this every day for my tension. Tension is just built up adrenaline/energy that isn't let out. You gotta let it out.

  13. Whoa! That's what I had....17 years ago.

I was going to suggest that it's muscle tension from stress. Then I read that site. I'm glad they connect it with stress, because that's what caused it for me. But it took 5 years to realize that. During the 5 years, the tension would move to different areas(shoulder, back, legs, ankles). I came across the book "Type A personality" and it all clicked into place: anxiety, time pressure, multi-tasking, were the cause of 5 years of pain.

My throat only had a choking feeling when I swallowed, althogh eating "loosened" it up.

I didn't know there was a name for this. I think it's all stress(a clue is that the severity changes - as your stress will change through the day or week)

I have a handle on this now because I've become an expert in stress relief, and controling my Type A personality.

  14. UPDATE: the B-52's are gonna be on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" April 4. This is cool because Ellen is one of my favorite people. Then she moved up on my list when I found out she had been a vegetarian. But she has enimia, and doctors(and US culture) has her believing she needs some meat.

"The Ellen Degeneres Show" is one of my favorites too. She has a great spirit and sense of humor, and often promotes animals and the wellbeing of all.

  15. Well, this is unfortunate for the future of human heath, especially for so-called free people.

(in some places, the moths are) kept in control by natural predators

Why doesn't Cal have those natural predators??

Perhaps because of a previous spraying

7 million people(of a blue state) will be sprayed with an untested chemical containing 'secret' ingredients,

California is being attacked. Why aren't they fighting this attack?

Perhaps because of a previous spraying(with neurological chemicals?)

What exactly can we the people do to control our own lives(the basic principal of the USA)??

CA needs another recall of the govenor. Which other politicans voted for this?

  16. For expanding the mind:

    Forest Gump

Joe vs the Volcano (on the surface: romantic comedy. But it goes deep + lots of symbolism

Both star Tom Hanks (What a coinkidink)

Mr. Hollands Opus (This NEEDS to be watched at least twice. It seems bland until you've seen it, then understand what it's saying, THEN watching again makes your spirit soar. And the music becomes recognized as part of the story the 2nd time.)

    Plain inspirational:

    Field of Dreams

Strictly Ballroom (I'm not a ballroom fan, but it does not matter! It's about a man with a passion to dance HIS way - refusing to follow the herd. I saw it in a theater and it was the only time I've ever heard an audience applaud at the end...yet I wasn't surprised(you gotta do something with that adrenelin). The last time I saw it on TV, I had to lift weights for the last 20 minutes. There's also great laughs and non-stop fun

  17. Released Today, March 25.

    Samples: http://www.amazon.com/Funplex-B-52s/dp/B00139B39O

(edit: They'll be on "The Tonight Show" - April 1)

    And they'll be touring soon.

And more good news: the new songs do not fit in with today's 'musical' trend. They sound similar to alot of their old songs.

I became a fan when "Roam" "Love Shack" and "Deadbeat Club" hit the radio.

I liked their themes of fun, peace, nature, environment, aliens and space....and only found out 5 years ago that the members are mostly Veg*n.

Here's some meaningful lyrics from them:

They twist the truth; then give it a spin

Break out of the mold before the mold sets in

All the creatures; big and small

I don't go hunting cause I like them all

Live and let live; Love and be loved

Open to all that life allows

Then we know that we're alive

    if we weren't sure before

    Everybody loves butterbeans

If you got a fire and you can't put it out...

Love energy is giving us a shove

making this the Summer of Love

    Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa

    Whoa-whoa Whoa!

  18. No surprise. I'm a big proponent of standing up for truth. And using kindness (and logic) is very important. The big mouths probably will never (want to) learn, but the people reading are likely to see the truth. We just gotta keep at it.

This can be angering and rob us of energy; so realize they're victims of propaganda and don't spend much time arguing with any one person.

  19. From reading one of Henner's books in the mid 90's, I thought she didn't eat animal products. Maybe you mean vegan in the "strict" sense. Then she isn't. On the show they were all selling hot dogs.

you could almost see the claws

In fairness, that usually happens with the loosing team. But yeah, Omarosa seams like she eats raw meat...or needs some.
