  1. Thanks guys. Well ive decided to go mostly raw, at least I have been completely raw for the past two days, tomorow is not a guarantee though lol. Im still getting maybe 150 grams of protein a day at best. Thats counting from all sources, nuts, some in fruit and greens, and a few servings of Sun Warrior Protein each day. Im feeling decent on this diet, not worse, but not noticeably better than a cooked food diet. As for now im not 811, Im still taking in a somewhat decent amount of protein, no where near the 300 grams a day I used to get though, and keeping up my calories is somewhat difficult, but Im really hoping to see some gains in the gym. If nothing else I have noticed a bit more muscular endurance in the gym.
  2. Wow thats really inspirational, being raw seems like the way to go. And with this economy i dont doubt a cab driver being poor, just because there is tourism still doesnt offset all the cost of gas and keeping your car tuned up
  3. Well lots of protein powders do not have hardly and carbs with lots of protein, so that could help to boost your protein. Also fake meats, such as tofurkey, tofu, seitan, and tempeh have relatively low carbs with high amounts of protein. Also rememeber you can subtract the fiber from the carbs, like an apple might have 24 carbs and 4 grams of fiber, so its really only like 20 grams of digestable carbs. Hope this helps
  4. Circuit training is great way to lose fat, along with shorter resting periods inbetween sets, which it seems like your already doing. With a 30 min to 40 min workout i would suggest eating a piece of fruit sometime before working out, maybe 30 mins before you start lifting, that way you will have some extra energy during your workout. Then for after your workout since you are trying to cut down i would probably take in around 30 grams to 40 grams of protein, along with 30 to 40 carbs. The meal after your workout is probably the most important meal of the day, so make sure you eat enough at that meal, and concentrate on cutting down on other meals from the day.   5. Hey andres, I wrestled my freshman year in highschool too as a vegan, by far the hardest high school sport. I would suggest this workout plan set up by Derek Tresize, http://veganbodybuilding.com/?page=article_total_bodymass it works your whole body a couple times a week but not enough to overtrain yourself if you follow it correctly, I would also reccomend you eat as much healthy food as you can so that you can bulk up some. Dont forget the importance of cardio though, even if you wrestle someone a ton stronger than you if you can just hold out for the first 4 mins you can tire them out and get a pin. Goodluck!

Hey cs123, you might ought to reconsider your training program, the way you have it set up you do chest on monday, when you work your chest you also work your front delts(front of your shoulders) and triceps, then tuesday you workout your triceps, then wednesday you work out your shoulders which would cause you to workout your triceps again to some extent. Either way your triceps get worked 3 days in a row without rest, so maybe you should change up your workouts, you could do your leg day after you chest day instead

  8. Ok thanks a lot! I really wasn't sure about it, skeptical is a good word for that i guess. I was thinking the only way it could be possible is if you consumed tons and tons of food a day like 7000 or more calories. The reason I posted the question is because I saw an article on it, ill post the link, it seemed to have a decent amount good information: http://www.foodnsport.com/faq.php It seems like a healthy diet for a non lifter, but def not for me lol
  9. In my opinion it would depend on quite a few different factors. Generally I would say the least amount of protein after a workout would be 20 grams, where as the least amount of carbs I would take in would be maybe a bit higher, around 30. I think the ideal ratio depends on a few factors such as your body weight, your goals, and the duration and intensity of your workout. So maybe with a few more factors factored in I could be of more help. For myself I usually would take 20 to 50 grams of protein and 30 to 80 carbs, depending on my goals, and the workout i just completed.
  10. So I have been reading up on the 811 diet, which is where you consume 80% of your calories from carbs, 10% from protein, and 10% from fats. I was wondering if anyone that has participated in using this diet has managed to gain a considerable amount of lean mass. Currently I eat around 300 grams of protein a day, 350 carbs, and 90 grams of fat. Would I still be able to gain muscle while on an 811 diet. Also if I started doing 2 a days wouldn't my protein requirments rise?

Hi, my name is John and I find my self repeatedly coming back to veganbodybuilding.com and reading the forums, so i decided I would introduce myself and hopefully start posting progress photos and giving out what suggestions I can. Background: I have been vegan for about 4 years now, and i was a vegitarian for 4 years before that. I am 18 and just graduated from highschool. Throughout my life I played sports, starting with soccer, then cross country, wrestling, and then the summer after my freshman year in highschool i starting riding my bike to a gym 2 miles from my house called anytime fitness. I trained the whole summer, usually 2 hrs at a time twice a day, 6 days a week. Needless to say I didn't exactly know what i was doing. My sophmore year in highschool I tried out for the weightlifting team. I didn't make it, but I was able to workout with them anyways and my strength went up a lot. For my first 2 years or so all I concentrated on was my strength, trying to get my 1rm's as high as possible. For probably the past year or so I have been more concerned with bodybuilding per se, and increasing my overall health. Once I began lifting I changed what I ate, and have continued to do so over the years. Im 5'11", and at one point was up to 200 pounds. So I lowered my carb intake and upped my protein to get down to 171 pounds, which is how much I weigh now. Along the way I have cut out almost all refined carbs, any liquid other than reduced fat soymilk and water. I no longer consume any products that contain artificial sweetners such as Ace K. I have also lowered my sodium from around 10,000 miligrams a day to around 2,500 to 3,500 miligrams a day. I know try to eat mostly low proccesed or no proccesed foods when I can, such as raw nuts, fruits, steel cut oats, granolas. I also supplement with Sun Warrior Protein powder, soy protein powder, and a pea protein powder. Typically I get about 300 grams of protein, 400 carbs, 100 grams of fiber and 80-100 grams of fat. Currently I am trying to gain as much lean mass as possible, but feel like Im kinda stuck at a plateau as far as strength, and possibly size is concerned. My lifts are 245, 385, 315 for bench, squat and deadlift respectively. So Im trying to stick to core lifts and a high training frequency, sometimes doing 2 a days, but still taking a few days off each week to rest.
