Hi, my name is Rom, I am 26 and live in the greater Sacramento area. I am a French national and work as a software engineer. I have been vegan for 8 years, and recently (1-2 years ago) started worrying about my health, which spurred my interest in martial arts, and also free running (parkour). One of my favorite books is Thrive by Brendan Brazier, which really helped me get to the next level. I hope I'll be able to exchange and learn from all the great people on this forum. Rom

Hi!!! I'm very happy to meet you all! My name is Samantha, I'm 30 and I live in Italy. I work as a fitness instructor in a gym and I'm studying to improve myself in this job I love. I think of fitness in an "olistic" way: being healthy is feeling healthy and looking healthy. This is why I like body building and yoga in the same way! I've been a vegetarian for 10 years, and I'm going towards veganism now. I have to say it is not easy in Italy: the idea "muscles = meat" is very strong here. I am sooooo happy I met veganrunners, veganfitness and veganbodybuilding!!!! I can eventually speak to people who UNDERSTAND!!! I'd love to compete in fitness, but I can't fin…

I guess I will try this again. I wrote a long post a moment ago and posted it and then nothing. Poof, it was gone! Ah well..here goes again! Hi everyone.. I just found this site today and I am tickled! My name is Kerry and I am a 42 year old female who has been a vegetarian for over 18 years. During that time I was also fat..VERY fat. During the last 9 months I have lost 130 pounds and developed a real love of body building. I also decided I want to eliminate all dairy products from my diet and go the Vegan route. I did it a few years ago and I loved how I felt when I followed a Vegan diet. Now that I have lost the "scale weight" I am hoping to start transform…

well, i was told to introduce myself ,so i guess i'll do that=| name's muhaha, that's all you need to know, been vegan since i was 3 or 4, now i'm 18, recently i found out that i take pride in my belief, domestication of animals causes problems=bse, avian flu, whatnot plus the fact that i want people to know that muscles do grow from vegan diets and shut them all up whoever said that you can't live without meat, well it just causes global warming hahaha that's why i started training like crazy and i hope i'll achieve the perfect body in 5 years

hi everyone, i'm not a body-builder, at least not since i took a body-sculpting class (or whatever it was called) back in 1994 or '95. but, compassionategirl told me to sign up over here, after a post on veganfitness, so here i am. i've been vegan since '94 and athletic since my teen years (I'm 31 now). i've had back problems and running related injuries in recent years and feel that building my muscular system would help prevent injuries and support my skeletal system (which would help with my scoliosis). so, this site should help me out. i've also got a fitness room at the office with some free-weights and a few machines. in other news, i maintain websites fo…

Hello I am newly vegetarian/vegan. One week to be exact. I have had a headache since. Is that withdrawal from animal proteins? lol I also am doing a body building program which I've been doing since 1 November this year. I'm following BFFM. I am doing this mainly for fat loss but I also want to gain muscle at the same time. I am female and weigh 194 lbs and am 4'11" so I have a lot of weight to lose. I have type 2 diabeties and early stages of kidney disease because I did not control my diabetes (both of which are under control now) which is why I have gone to vegetarian/vegan. I am using a soy protein powder which I am having twice a day as a protein shak…

Hi I'm Deanna, I've been a vegan since August of 2004. I never loved meat, but enjoyed poultry and fish, then got ill after a family vacation. We ate a lot of meat and little veggies (long story.) I came home cranky, tired and craving brown rice and veggies. I gave up refined sugar and all animal products that day and never looked back. I lost 50lbs in the first 7 months. I still have about 10 lbs to go, but would be happy just building muscle and losing more inches. I'm not toned. I used to run quite a bit but my diet was so horrible, the whole routine was exhausting. I did the whole high protein weight lifting thing a few years back while weight training. I was misera…

Greetings All... Thought I better post an intro before I get too carried away and start posting... I am from Perth, which is the capital city of, Western Australia. I have been a vegetarian for a number of years, this year deciding I would take on a vegan diet entirely. My main fitness regime has been in martial arts which I have done for a number of years, although I took an 18 month break, but have recently got back on the mat and decided to try a new style/s and take up Kenpo and MMA. I have also recently got into the gym with, what I am hoping will stay, a more a motivated approach. So I am hoping to begin reaping those benefits over the next few months. …

Since I just registered and posted to another thread (had to put in my two cents about mock chicken salad!), I thought it would be polite to introduce myself. I'm Kathryn (as you can see, I don't have much imagination--or memory--when it comes to user names). I became a vegetarian ( cold turkey, or "cold tofu," if you prefer) in 1976, and have been almost vegan since then. Went all-the-way vegan (with a few lapses) in 1990 after attending an AR conference in Milwaukee, WI, where I attended sessions by Neal Barnard and Ingrid Newkirk. I am an avid "home exerciser" aka "vidiot" (weight training, kickboxing, step, functional fitness) and belong to a couple of other …

I've been surfin' this site and the boards for the past month or so now and wanted to say hello to everyone. And also, thanks for all the great information and inspiration... My name's David Forrest, I'm from Portland, Oregon, currently going to school at Occidental College in LA, California. I've been a longtime vegetarian, off-and-on vegan for the past couple of years. But now I'm deciding to stick with it, thanks greatly to a lot of the success and motivation I have found here. Always been built pretty small at 5'9", 125 lbs, but have been trying to get bigger...people told me I wasn't getting enough protein. I had been turning to protein bars that contained c…

Hey, my real name is Chris. I'm from Toronto. I'm not really a bodybuilder, but I do alot of strength training because of my involvement in mixed martial arts (jiu-jitsu, boxing, muay thai). I'm not a vegan yet, but am on my way! My goal is to eliminate all animal products over the next month. Currently I just free range eggs and drink the occasional glass of organi milk, as well as whey shakes (too many!). My other interests are classical lit, and I'm trying to teach myself ancient greek right now, because I don't do drugs or drink or watch television so I have too much free time! I'm also a writer and have publsihed some poems here and there and will be coming out with a…

Greetings Everybody. My name is Michelle. I was a frequent visitor and finally registered to the site about a week ago. Due to my work and non-work schedule, I have not had time to properly introduce myself. I have a few moments, so I thought I would take a second to say hi. Robert introduced me to the site and I got hooked on it thanks to the great forums you guys and gals conduct. I have been on various other sites and visited forums that really turned me off because the people were, to put it politely, a bit immature and rather close minded. Your forums show a diverse and open group of people, so I registered to the site and am posting my first forum topic. …

Hello! My name is Steve and I have been immersed in the world of veganism. I am a total bodybuilding enthusiast who had a 'phobia' of quitting eating meat. That was until I took the plunge and 'just did it.' Since then, I have dropped inches off my waist and I require less sleep at night. And my weight training is just as intense as ever! I am writing a book documenting my switch over to veggie protein. I sometimes eat dairy, but VERY rarely. I look forward to visiting with you all. Blessings!! I decided I should probably cease the lurking and sign up for the forums here. I'm a member over at vegan fitness, as well. I'm introducing myself as per compassionategirl's recommendation. So hm, a little run down: My name's Eva, I'm vegan, straight edge, and I'm just getting back into the gym after a long injury recovery from a bad lifting accident that was one part my own stupidity and one part the worst spotter in the entire world. I'm a real lame-ass. I like to take homeless people for dinner. I tutor English writing, French, and English lit in my spare time, and I'm known to leave stacks of vegan pancakes on friends' windowsills, and boxes of cookies on door…

Hi, my name is Tristan, I live in the north east of England... I'm a Vegan I've been a vegan since September 2002. I'm not really in very good shape (does computer programming) but I can still outrun my friends, which is cool coz they the ones that always tellin me you can't be fit if you don't eat dead animals. I have my own bench and lift in the comfort of my garden shed, sometimes I go to the local gym, it's called steel city, it's kind of cool, the man that owns it is a vegetarian and an animal rights person. I like to drink alcohol, i'm trying to cut it out of my life but it's hard when all my friends drink. Anyway hello everyone. Sorry for any bad grammar, I quit …

I'm trying to post an avatar and the limit is apparently 6 k. This leaves me with an image about the size of my baby fingernail even at low res. I downloaded someone's avatar, opened it in Photoshop and it was 47 k! No fair!

Hi there, If seafood were a vegetable I could be vegan. I love my salmon, canned tuna and shrimp...mmmm....shrimp. I am not a dairy fan nor do I care for much of it as it causes me to feel like crap. I'd love to hear some reasons for giving up fish and I'm open to change...

i'm david out of pittsburgh, pennsylvania. usually post on veganfitness.net under the same name (don't hang out there unless you want to get turned into a powerlifter). vegan for almost 6 years. i pretty much just like lifting weights and gripwork. my biggest goal is to stay injury-free as have been ravaged by the injuries over the last 3 years and have not progressed strengthwise to my liking. hoping to deadlift 375-400 by the end of the year. seems to be more way more Americans on this board as we are grossly underrepresented over on .net. or maybe its just that the Brits are overrepresented (loudmouths) cheers, david

Hi! I'm Jennifer from San Francisco; I've been reading the articles and board for awhile, but had some downtime at work so I figured I might as well take the 5 minutes and officially join the community. I've been a vegetarian since 14, and tried to be vegan while I was a starving student (literally) in college. But I didn't do a very healthful job, so I went back to being veg. for years. Now I am a teacher and am vegan again, and love living in the SF Bay Area because we have a lot of locally grown organic produce at our fingertips. I've been training with weights for a year, on and off, and recently just got very focused about reducing my body fat %. I'm petite …

I know, I don't belong here. But I just recently came across this board and people here are way more mature than the other bodybuilding board. I know for a fact this board will help me more with the information that I seek. Anyways, just wanted to say HI! And...if it helps I plan on only eating seafood when it comes to meat.
