i'm taking steps into more raw food, and figured this would be a nice start. i wish the filling was homemade and raw, but it wasn't (next time maybe). basically i just processed walnuts (though almonds would be better i think) with dates and tangerine zest - didn't have an orange or lemon, so used a tangerine overall, really nice pie crust http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2693/4140159536_cf38e99125.jpg

Anyone try these http://www.larabar.com/ they are so good, but can get pricey. I looked at the ingredients on the back (one bar had only 2 ingredients dates and cashew while another had maybe 5-6 ingredients) and figured I could make these. A lot easier then I thought. 2.5 oz of dates (minus the pits) 1-1.5 oz of nuts (whatever type you like) Thats their basic ingredient bar and it makes about 2 bars. Use different nuts, when I've made them before I've done only peanuts and dates (tastes like a PB cookie); dates and cahsews; dates and walnuts; dates and mixed nuts I also played around last night and made their "cinimon roll bar" with just using the dates, cashews,…

A good 35-45 oz of cooked chickpeas (I cook them dry cuz canned is bad for the environment ) About 5-6 tablespoons of lemon juice 3 Tablespoons of Tahini (or more if I think it needs more) 3 Crushed Garlic Cloves 1 tsp salt 2 tbsp olive oil I am going to prepare it tomorrow all in my blender, and I cant wait to try it. I plan on eating a ton of this stuff for lots of calories! lol. I wanna take it to school in tubbaware so I can dip my raw veggies in it. I find hummus a great option for me. I can easily enjoy the delicious hummus in class during my 10 minute break with some veggies, pita bread, or wheat thins. Hmm, so does anyone have any recommended recipes that I …

Dressings can make or break a meal/salad and they are an excellent way of making healthy foods taste a lot better. What dressings do you love/like and what do you have them on? I love a 3-2-1 dressing I found on the Mcdougall forum. 3 parts balsamic vinegar 2 parts brown/yellow mustard 1 part maple syrup (really any syrup will do) Stir untill smooth. Usually I have this on a white beans, onions and chopped tomatoes. You can add salt if you want to, also various green spices is nice, like rosemary. What dressings do you like?

After cutting soy out of my diet, I'm a bit confused as to the best alternatives. For drinking and eating cerials, I love almond milk. However, its a little sweet and doesn't work well in soups. I also love almond cream for sweet dishes and oat cream for cerial dishes. However, I still can't find anything to use instead of milk in soups..what do you guys use? And I haven't really found anything which works as well as soya cream in curries, such as korma... someone just suggested doubling up on the coconut..have you guys tried this? And which in your opioions are the best non-soy selections for cooking different things?

Hey all. I have been vegan for 6 years and while I have my workout and diet pretty well in hand I have a challenge for you. My partner and our son are both omnivores and most nights we fix three separate meals as mine is vegan, my partner's is meat based and my son's is kid friendly. Any suggestions on options that would allow us to all eat the same thing, thus giving us more time as a family? They are a little tired of pasta as that is one thing we can fix and then each personalize it without much extra work, so we have it a few times a week. Since my partner seems to desire meat several times a week, recipes that would allow him to throw some meat on the top at…

I am looking for recipes that will hold for the week. or recipes that can be mostly prepared in advance and maybe thrown in the oven when its time to eat. you see, life has been extremely busy with giacomo and i both working everyday and cooking hasn't been happening so much. so we're working our asses off, only to spend it on convenience foods that are less than healthy. help?

Delicious stuff that I made today 340 gr peanut butter (natural, no oil or sugar) 1 tablespoon cacao 75 gr chocolate protein powder (I used soy) Vanilla (I used liquid shit but whatever is fine probably) 2 dl corn flakes (I used sugar free) Melt the PB and add the protein, cacao and vanilla. Mix. Add the corn flakes and mix/crush until everything sticks to the "dough". Mash it out in a container/plate/whatever and put it in the fridge for a while. Done!

I think they are italian eggplant the mini one's . I slice them thin , used bread crumbs , added lemon peppercorn garlic crackled to the crumbs, along with some sea salt . After breading I put them in the oven at 375 degrees 7 minutes then flipped them . I then sliced some tofu , crumbled the tofu , and mixed it with veganaise . I put the tomatoe sauce on top of the breaded eggplant slices then my tofu-veganaise mix next with some coarse black pepper . Waited another 10 minutes wallah . I was suprised how it tasted so good . Even my fiancee thought it was wonderful, and she hates eggplant .

I adapted this from Dr. Fuhrman's apple cake recipe in his book, "Eat to Live." Had it this morning after a hard workout. It was really, really good: 1/4 tsp vanilla 1/4-1/2 cup apple juice or cider 1 tsp cinnamon 1-2 Tbsp vanilla brown rice protein powder 1/4 cup soy or almond milk 3 apples, chopped 1/4 cup raisins 1/2 cup rolled oats top with soy or almond milk if desired (I used homemade sesame milk) Stir the vanilla into the juice, then add all to apples, raisins and oats. Bake uncovered at 350 for 1 hour. (I covered it half way through with foil). This was seriously good I mixed it up the night before, then popped it in the oven while working out.

This is the green shake I have for breakfast every morning, really nice and sets you up for the day. 2-3 bananas Dessert spoon of oatmeal 2 Teaspoon of ground almonds Teaspoon of tahnini Very Large hand full of raw Spinach or Kale Cover with Soya Milk and blend. Very nice, if you can't really taste the greens and they add a huge amount of nutrition. Cheers, Chok-Dee

I had a great vegan malt once in St. Louis and this barley malt powder was a key ingredient. None of the local shops here have it and I've tried whole foods, etc. Anyone ordered some from online and had a good experience?

I'm into raw vegan cuisine. Here's a great recipe for a sweet tooth! Heavenly Cookies Yield approximately 10 cookie balls ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons raw nut butter (almond, pecan, or walnut) ½ cup + 2 tablespoons unsweetened, dried coconut ½ cup raisins 2 tablespoons raw agave nectar (I prefer the light agave) ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract pinch Himalayan crystal salt dash cinnamon Stir everything together in a bowl. Using a 1-tablespoon measured amount of cookie batter, roll them into balls. Store these in the refrigerator or freezer. Fun Variations: ~Stir in 1 tablespoon of raw chocolate powder or raw carob powder ~Roll them in dried, unsweetened coconut or ground n…

Wondering what are some of the ones you all seem to like. I myself am very partial to the following: Vegan with a Vengance, Veganomicon, Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen, Italian Vegan Kitchen, Vegan Table. I also just picked up the 30 minute Vegan one the other day and it has some great recipes in it. But I have to say the Donna Klein series and Vegan Table are by far my favorite both with recipes and the fact that they have serving nutritional information for each recipe.
