  1. But studying marketing, doing research, and educating the public isn't cool. It isn't as fun as vandalism and harassment. You don't get to wear a cool mask. You don't get the accolades of your friends for risking arrest while wearing a scary looking get up. You don't get the pleasure of shouting down someone in front of their home. Damn. You're right. Endy needs a good party to get going, and ain't no research a party.
  2. Part of the problem is we also don't have an infrastructure in place to ease the transition to and raise the utility of veganism. Create one.
  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Study marketing. It's so much more than just a set of advertisements; marketing has been used to change national perspectives and ways of life. Take the lessons of branding and proliferating a message.
  4. Hahahaha! ROCK ON, Samantha! Thank you for posting this inspiring story!
  5. I'm a little uneasy about posting pictures and any identifying information of myself online -- I like to block out my face for anything I post that's available in public. Is it alright if I submit an entry with my face blocked, but send the exact same photo with my face to Robert for verification of my identity?
  6. Sadly, no. I'm about a thousand miles or so away from you guys. But I do head out to the Pacific Northwest every now and then. And I say, next time I'm around, I'm taking you two on for tennis. Deal?
  7. If this something that stands out completely contradictory to everything about him you've seen so far, then this is probably something to take a little more lightly as far as evaluating his character. It doesn't change that it's affected how you feel, but people do say things and do not even realize what's happening. We do this even with simple things we'd have to be boneheads to overlook. Look at our past and at the things we've said and done. We're all boneheads. We've all done things where we hurt others without intent. If it becomes a recurrent theme, you might want to look at the situation more closely. People are beautiful, despite their myriad flaws. I'm willing to bet both you and your boyfriend are wonderful people. Ask him why he said it? Connect it to your understanding of how people think and of how men think. See why he said it? See his thought process, share your thought process. Communication is a powerful weapon. It's wrecked entire countries, saved millions (billions?) of lives and it also can help open wonderful doors for you two. Whatever the case, I honestly wish both of you the very best. You've got the Endy club cheering, whooping, hollering and making funny noises for you two. Curious question. How long has he been doing the "my wife" thing?
  8. I can't help but wonder if he's freezing to death. The nearest tree has no leaves and the other person outside is dressed in full clothing!
  9. Hey PMvegan, You're bulking off the thrive diet? I'm definitely thinking about changing my diet to the Thrive Diet and bulking in the process. Mind if I PM you?
  10. lol You need to share that information with most of the citizens of AZ. We are moving backwards pretty fast with the civil rights stuff. I don't see many people around me valuing equality.... "patriotism" here often takes the form of animosity towards all those in our Hispanic population. Wow, especially since you guys are all near the Mexico border. I've noticed that the closer I get to the border, the more animosity I've seen. And it gets gosh durn hot down there!!!! How do you stay cool during the Summer?
  11. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help commenting on this. These are key values of the American culture. You speak English. You value equality. You're informal (you don't wear a suit every day, do you?). http://www.americangraduateeducation.com/folder2/subfolder2/americanculture.htm All that said, I definitely agree with you that our global provincialism is causing a lot of trouble.
  12. Wonderful post, xjohanx! Thanks for posting it, man. About the vega part, here's a thought. Publicity might be good, and I like the fact that such a magazine is recognizing the presence of vegan bodybuilders. Yet, at the same time, it perpetuates the stereotype that vegans can't get protein. In cinema, Anna May Wong is known as the first Chinese-American star. Her movies included The Toll of the Sea (1922), one of the first movies made in color; Douglas Fairbanks' The Thief of Baghdad (1924), and Piccadilly (1929). To her dismay, however, she ended up playing supporting roles that reinforced incorrect stereotypes about Asians. Was this progress? She didn't seem to think so, she left the US for Europe in the 1920s, began starring in several notable films and plays, propelling herself to international stardom. Looking at Anna May Wong's career, if she had stayed, reinforcing stereotypes, she might have ended up nowhere close to where she did. I'm really glad to see that vegans are getting some recognition, but if we're going to smash out of those stereotypes, we should give something to those magazines that completely smashes their minds and blows out of any traditional mindset about vegans. Right now, they're just tiptoeing. We do have some wonderful successes here -- Alexander Dargatz comes to mind. Why not somebody do a great PR job?
  13. Good luck, TigreBella! I'm glad to see that you've put a lot of thought and effort into this. Here's me hoping for a safe and healthy path to your goals!
  14. I've already noticed my progress, but I'm thinking I'll keep the pics until I have more time. Right now I've only really been going at it for a short time. For now I just fill my blog with observations. I keep more detailed records on a spreadsheet.
  15. Endy

    Hi all

No. It's by Antarctica. You're from America, you should know. You're next to Saudi Arabia. Welcome to the forum, Kumulus! Looking forward to your posts.
  16. More progress. Today was legs day, weeks 1-2 of 6. A lot of good news: I upgraded pounds on squats by +10 (+5 x 2 barbells), deadlifts +10 (+5 x 2), and calves +10 (+5 x 2). Not as amazing news: I noticed I was doing poor form with barbell raises for the deltoids, so I changed the pounds by -5 from each barbell and got better results. Officially started my weights log, and am putting in old information from last week in there as well. I also tried seitan, chicken style. The seitan so far seems good, but the "chicken style" made it lose appeal.
  17. L&G's totally spot-on about your avatar. Now I see why he calls you the tucinator! Let's just hope there's no Kryptonite around. . .
  18. That's awesome progress! You're definitely inspiring people here. What has been the hardest part of your transformation?
  19. Cubby2112, Fantastic! Thanks. Funny thing, I've been bulking off of primarily pastas, tofu, and lentils so far. So I think I'll have luck with the Thrive Diet. Good luck with your bulk too; I'll be keeping an eye on your journal.
