  1. If you can play the maroon off with something pink then I'd say go for it. Else go for black : )
  2. JZA hm. I'll have to download that and check it out. I don't remember hearing it.
  3. Scooters on belmonts about 2 blocks down from paradox. It's across from Zupans. And the paradox chairs are a little weird but they've got the stools and that set of real chairs in the corner. Perhaps best of all though (imho) is the... Mirrors! Omg its so cool they've got mirrors right there and you can totally look at yourself. Ok maybe it's just me. But I think that's cool.
  4. Tadpole level. So you've been in the water. Fantastic start! : ) This will all work out very well. I can tell already : )
  5. Did I mention I was a Junior lifeguard at one point? I think my bro and sis were too. We're total swimmers. Did you grow up near the water/take swim lessons as a kid?
  6. Eat the whales. I love it. f.a.b.o.l.o.u.s. : ) Nice find CG.
  7. CG don't sweat it. I got you if SS can't. : ) If I can get surfing down I'll show you that too. You end up with your head in the water a lot then. At least the way I seem to do it
  8. MC I almost replied earlier to see if you wanted to bum around SE a bit with me while I tried to hunt down a patch for a sweater I've got and some cufflinks. I did end up getting some vegan soft serve and a cookie! I almost stopped in at Paradox for Fries too : D But then you weren't online when I was leaving. You could've had a hug then too : )
  9. I wondered when that would bite, although maybe this is more a nibble (I may be wrong entirely)? The visual/object/physical thing. Maybe we'll talk about what it means to be in "shape" sometime... the etymology I mean. Meanwhile - Seasiren, your job sounds rockin' and the depth of incorporation of fitness and vegan diet into your life are impressive to me : ) Congratulations on your success!
  10. Jay I think the thing I usually come back to is not even whether they know/care but could they do the act themselves. I think for a lot of people it's no. Like they might be ok with chickens being killed. But they'd have a hard time doing it themselves. I think you're right though, lots don't care. But maybe if most people were vegan or a good portion they'd continue to not care what they eat and eat the default vegan foods that are offered... Funny thought thought I suppose.
  11. CG you could move to Oregon. Apparently there's a lot of us here. I've only got one close mate that's vegan.
  12. I'll just add a second to what will said. I haven't seen anything solid for it but if you've got it around it might be worth trying.
  13. CG you did have it. Probably just an issue of missing a / somewhere in that second one. The first on you did on this page was right on.
  14. A lot of talk about the images... but little talk about the pope himself. Interesting. Hope this works out. (edit to add this note; I went from here to another site I visit and found discussion of religion there too... moreso about levels of affirmative responses to 'is religion important in your life' or something like that... link's here:http://tinyurl.com/8qphh it compares US to CA and EU etc.)
  15. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my sister hurt... I hope things get better asap for her. : /
  16. The best study I can find on the stuff, and the only one that I saw with some fast looking around, was done at Western Washington Uni. It showed something like 11% increase in strength compared to 4.5% for the placebo group. Wikipedia notes this about the study though: Here's something on Zinc and Magnesium - http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/72/2/585S And here's the study they talk about - http://tinyurl.com/b77jh
  17. Hah! I wish athletic vegan girls were typical of portland. Meanwhile Dodgeball starts back up for me Jan 12. That'll be fun. I used to play pickup football and soccer and sometimes kickball but lately I've just been running...
  18. Nixon/Watergate comes to mind re domestic spying and potential concerns regarding it. Access to political enemies info ... etc. And maybe some concern about the benefit of the majority outweighing some rights of the minority that seem reasonable now progressing into unreasonable thing - slippery slope example. That stuff aside, I thought the issue was more Bush's powergrab by ignoring the courts specifically setup so these things could be approved when they were needed (keeping us safe) but without simply letting things run wild. Maybe I'm not as up on this as I thought.
  19. Dr. Bronner. But dilute the bottled stuff if you get peppermint or else don't put it near your edibles : ) It's really strong and can hurt them.
  20. Hmm... O74 got me thinking... dunno about what exactly though.
  21. Now that's how to be. Way to go CL! : )
