  12. from wikipedia website: Criticism of the show Though the show is generally well received, some viewers of the show complain that Penn and Teller's political and personal beliefs get in the way of making an objective case. They feel that the duo should be seriously considering the arguments of their targets. Instead, Penn and Teller are believed by some to simply assume the claims are wrong from the start and then spend the show making them appear foolish. Those who feel this way sometimes also suggest that the show's approach tends to weaken the force of its arguments, since viewers may feel that the show's viewpoint is implicitly biased. Particularly criticized is the episode on second hand smoke, which features radio talk show host Larry Elder and includes experts from politically-active organizations such as the libertarian Cato Institute, at which Jillette is an H.L. Mencken Research Fellow. The use of such sources and the conflict of interest which their use may exhibit, regardless of the truth of their factual claims, could contribute to the perception of the show as biased in the minds of some. Robert (Bob) Carroll of The Skeptic's Dictionary website initially agreed with Penn and Teller's assessment of secondhand smoke. Later Carroll admitted that he made the same mistake that Penn and Teller did: "trusting the standards of risk assessment as promoted by the tobacco industry (led by Philip Morris) and their Republican generals". It should be noted, however, that Penn and Teller never claim objectivity, in fact, they openly express the opposite: "We're biased as all fuck, but we try to be honest" (from Episode 302). What "being honest" comprises is usually openly stating their stance and providing tapes of the show to experts/people who will appear on the show and are likely to be ridiculed or opposed. They also openly state that their own (primarily social) experiments are unscientific before each example; these are usually employed for comedic relief or to justify a more simplistic comment on how people behave (eg. bottled water in restaurant, alternative medicines in mall, etc.). Due to these characteristics, however, one could accuse Penn and Teller of stealing the thunder from the opposition by citing their own errors, while still utilizing questionable material.

  15. ya i have all 3 seasons ....... its g00d in a sence but you gatta remember they're sponsored by companies to say all that stuff is bullshit ...... they're so biased its not even funny .... i watch it just to see where everybody comes from and their points of view but i dont believe 100% the crap they say did you see the one about the environment when they asked the people why they were fighting for non-gmo food and a clean world??? lol..... they were all like "ummmm cause ..... uhhhh .... because ...... " lol it was so funny they do make valid points though, like if you're going to fight for the environment get your facts together, read up on everything and all the facts then state your argument... because all those people who protest and whatnot 1/2 of them dont even know why or what they're protesting for

  21. im a pessimist and skeptic so i'll ask...... if you bring someone over for dinner and offer a vegan food how does it save animals??? slaughterhouses will still continue to kill the same amount of animals and your supermarket will just have a couple extra trays of meet that they'll end up throwing away.... maybe i havent exactly grasped the way it saves animals .... unless you do it long term and convince ALOT of people then it'll save animals i think
