Hello. Ive been looking for some alternatives than sugar to make some protein muffins. Yesterday i made a batch which consisted of cocao, maca, hemp protein powder, buckwheat flour, some coconut oil and for sweetening it up i put a few drops of stevia in and the juice of 2 freshly squezed apples and then baked the things. ..and they tasted really terrible There was no sweetness in the muffins ! So my next options are to get some Lucuma powder, stevia powder and see how that goes. I am aiming for low GI options so that my blood sugar wont spike up and down. Is there anything that else that i could use to get the tase of sweetness?? Ive heard of applesauce be…

Hi all Thought i'd share a recipe of mine. If you don't like high-protein shakes (i don't, as so many of them are gritty or have too much saturated fat) or are looking for something different occasionally, try making them into a pudding. You can combine: your favorite soy protein powder either soy milk or a protein shake either soy pudding or some other thickening agent like corn starch or tapioca cook it like you would make regular pudding cool and serve I've been successful in getting ratios of well over 3:1 protein to carbs to gel into a pudding and be rather edible. Anything more than that and it gets really gritty. You've really got to mix the stuff initial…

Don't know if this has been posted before but I haven't seen it here (except maybe the protein bars) http://www.mikemahler.com/articles/veganmeals.html I really like how he uses spices in his protein shakes which is something I do myself but I rarely see anyone else doing. It can really make a difference. I will try to find that pumpkin pie spice in an american store in stockholm because we don't normally have it over here. Sounds like a great mix. Except for his use of oils I think the recipes are great. It's basically legumes plus nuts/seeds and veggies. The way god intended vegan meals to be.

I didn't even realize there was a food topic! So sorry to post this a second time (I allready posted this to my training blog), but i figured that you can find this better if it's here. The VBB-pizza Dough: - 2/3 whole grain flour - 1/3 rye/spelt flour or similar - yeast - a couple of pinches of baking powder - hemp seeds - sunflower seeds - sesame seeds - lots of hemp/flax oil and/or olive oil - soy sauce - herbs - water Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes. You can either do a slightly loose dough or a "normal" dough. Just add water and/or flour until the dough feels good. When properly kneaded, the dough should feel kind of stringy or resilient. Leave the dough in a…

Similar to Coldstone consistency but vegan of course. I am thinking of using coconut milk in place of cream and vanilla soymilk in place of regular milk. My problem is that I am having to add too much ice, which de-creams the shake. Any ideas?

I whip up a hemp protein drink around bed time. So far I have been using "plain" soy milk and hemp powder. The taste is very bland as you can imagine and much of the hemp seems to settle at the bottom of the cup very quickly. I am going to try using vanilla flavored soy milk in hopes that it might liven up the drink a little. Any suggestions on what else to add to it?

Since every thread I post in seems to have burritos mentioned in it, I though I should start a new thread. One which encompasses MORE than burritos!!! Just had quesadillas last night!!! mmmm Mexican food is such a staple in our household. Oddly enough, I find it tough to eat when in Mexico.... so much meat and cheese in everything. I usually tip the cook to make me dishes vegan style. The salsa is absolutely amazing there! so fresh! anyone else crazy about mex food?

I've been on this diet for nearly 3 weeks now and I'm amazed at the results. For those who aren't familiar with this diet, it basically consists of 3 days carb depletion with high reps and aerobic workouts, followed by a carb load and low rep workouts. Its ideal for someone like me who only wants to lose the last bit of fat! Problem is, I'm struggling finding nice things to eat on the low carb days. I can only eat 50gm of carb a day which is tough with vegan food..anyone got any suggestions? I'd be happy to send a copy of the Ultimate Diet 2 book and/or my diet log so far to anyone interested in trying this diet because as far as I am aware, people always said you couldn'…

Has anyone tried one of the below? 2 scoops of protein powder 2 tablespoons peanut butter milk or water Mix all ingredients together in a small glass bowl. If the resulting mixture is too thick add a couple drops of milk or water to loosen it up until it reaches your desired consistency. Since it is already in a glass bowl, microwave on high for 30-45 seconds. Mixture should come out to a cake/brownie like consistency. Eat. OR 8 Scoops protein powder 3 Cups Oats 1 Package Sugar Free Fat Free Pudding 2 Cups Milk Mix until a sticky batter is formed (may take a few minutes) use a large spoon to spread out the mix into the bottom of a Pam-sprayed glass or meta…

(not my recipe, but I thought it should be shared) I actually replaced his raisins with goji berries, as I had some on hand and am not a fan of raisins. Their smoky flavor adds a whole new dimension to the dish. tip: go easy on the orange juice. half an orange per half a pound of collards should be enough, perhaps even less http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b146/Chaohinon/Picture010.jpg

I have some cookbooks I don't get to use very often, and they take up a lot of space! Willing to sell for a fraction of their original costs ($10-15 each depending). Some are gently used, others are basically new (other than sitting on my shelf). They include: Extraveganza Mediterranean Vegan Cookbook Vegan Italiano Vegan Planet Student's Go Vegan Cookbook Vegan fusion World Cuisine- includes lots of raw recipes Vegan Express Rawvolution- totally raw These are all great and in TERRIFIC condition. I just hate that they aren't used and would like to see them used by someone who will appreciate them! (Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I thought people looking for re…

So when we were all out in AZ at the competition, Jimi got some of this amazing "Black Bean Hummus" which I thought was really good. I ended up searching for recipes on the internet and was able to make some (but my camera's battery was dead, so no picture yet). The recipe is: 1 15 oz can black beans 3 tbsp natural creamy peanut butter 1 tbsp peanut or vegetable oil (I didn't have either. I would have used peanut oil if the jar of PB was new and would have just skimmed it off the top, so I had to use a few tsp's of water in the food processor when the mixture got dry.) Garlic, Fresh squeezed lime, cayenne, chili pepper, salt, pepper to taste. Then put in the peanut bu…

I came up with this one the other night and I loved it! I thought I'd share it with the group. Ingredients: 2 tortillas salsa lettuce TVP refried beans green tabasco sauce vegan sour cream Directions: Fry the two tortillas (separately) just enough to make them a little crispy but not flaky. Drain them on a paper towel. Heat the refried beans and TVP. Place one tortilla on a plate. Add a layer of refried beans and a layer of TVP. Add a layer of salsa (and sprinkle with green tabasco for extra flavor). Place the other tortilla on top. Add a layer of vegan sour cream , salsa, more sprinkles of green tabasco, and lettuce. Slice with a pizza cutter and serve! http://im…

Ok! I do love Burritos! who doesn't? BUT! I'm becoming a bit bored with them. When I was a vegetarian and when I ate meat, omelettes were like a life saver, specially with left overs. I would just beat 2 or 3 eggs and voila! It's easy and its on the go type of meal. Now as a vegan I have to resort to burritos or tacos to make something fast. I was wondering if theres anything else out there that does not involved making a pita, taco, burrito or sandwich. Is there?

I've been making this protein fudge for a while now, I adapted it from a recipe I once found that used whey protein and a lot of oatmeal amongst other things I didn't want to use- so essentially it is nothing like that one, it just kind of spurred the idea. There are a lot of different ingredients I have tried but I'll just write the basic one I use. 50g Protein powder - I originally used NitroFusion but SunWarrior is a lot nicer 25g Cocoa powder 25g Almond Meal 15g Dessicated coconut 2 Tablespoons ABC Spread (Almond, Brazil, Cashew) Almond butter would do, I have since started using the Chocolate Coconut Butter Basically just mix the dry ingredients together in a b…

I've posted a variation of this recipe before, but I've never really gotten to play around with it. I've varied the amount of agave nectar and even used maple syrup instead (I don't recommend this, it cooks way too fast). However, tonight I decided to make two batches. The first batch would be my "superfood" variety. The other would be very rich and snacky. I'm a fan of mixing things up and having variety, plus I have bags and bags of great seeds and nuts waiting to get used. So, to start, here is the basic recipe: 2 cups rolled spelt (oats work too, but I like the flavor of spelt) 1 cup raw almonds ¼ cup sesame seeds ½ cup unsweetened coconut ¼ cup wheat germ ¼ organ…
