Haven't seen the movie yet. But interesting training story.
  2. Classic, Robert! Is that today? Or a few years ago? In any case...LOL
  3. Aargh! I never thought there'd be a reason to live in Texas. I guess there is!
  4. I gotta agree with sydneyvegan on this one. There are different ways to approach this. However, since you are moving away, you probably want to be discreet to some degree because you probably don't want to burn bridges in this case. I know a guy who was so gung ho about it before he moved back East and he got pissed that people didn't ask him. The last thing his friends around him remember was how he was a jerk on that last day. Now everyone says "good riddance". This is just my opinion. Some people are comfortable enough saying "I don't care what people think about me being vegan", but I think you do care because you wouldn't be asking the question. Personally, I care what people think because veganism/vegetarianism doesn't define me as a person in and of itself. People admire different things about others, but I like to think it's about honesty, kindness, selflessness, morality, integrity, forthrightness, etc. rather than what I specifically choose to eat and why. Hope I don't open a can of worms here, but my intention what just to say that "being yourself" is the best thing to do, and be confident and humble in your approach. I think this is what sydneyvegan is saying.
  5. veganmadre...for some reason I thought you meant Pittsburgh in the East SF Bay...near Concord there...not sure why I'm brain dead... Robert, I took your cue and bought tons of fruit this morning. Going raw for a day. I'll see how long it lasts, but this should up the number of days I go to get food...hehe
  6. You better just hope this thread doesn't get deleted. That should humble you a bit...
  7. Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. Luc van Lierde won Hawaii Ironman in 7:56 a couple years after Mark Allen's last race there. So getting a good distance runner in there is where the time gains are made, all top time trialing cyclists being somewhat equal there... Should be able to be done.
  8. Feeling about 25% better than yesterday, but not well enough to ride the bike up the hill, so I walked a little then took the bus. Going RAW today...picked up fresh organic fruit, veggies, seeds and nuts and doing that deal today. Sliced some cucumbers, too, before leaving home.
  9. Awesome, Ryan. Welcome to VBB! You'll find a lot of support here, even if you are not vegan. Lots of friendly folks.
  10. Michelle...you hanging with the raw stuff?
  11. Robert, it's only me whose (occasionally) have refined sugar. Ok, I admitted it.
  12. Great! I got a 3 year old; now I know another fun thing to do with him!
  13. I nap whenever I get a day off. When I was racing bikes and then had to work the late-night shift, I'd train from 9am-3pm, shower, take 1 hour nap, then off to work. It was like that for 3 years, 6 or 7 days a week. It was awesome. Robert, are you able to train (and take naps) more now that your profession has changed?
  14. No worries. I was just curious. Anyhoo...dag nabbit, potter!
  15. Damn, damn! Hehe...my sister can do 200...she's ripped and an elite mountain biker...I say this because women truly can kick ass at this, too, not to compare! Awesome suz...
  16. Yeah, I wish the best for Tyler Hamilton. I met him a couple years back when he was racing collegiate and he was the most down-to-earth least arrogant person I've ever met. I truly he got shafted on this doping deal and I would never believe he would do that. I hope he gets a legitimate opportunity to show what he can do in 2007.
  17. Cool! My wife and I are totally on board. We really want to check out Portland as a possible living option as well... I'll keep checking the boards, but if you can point me to exact details as they come up, that would be great!
  18. Cool, veganmadre...I'm on the Westside...my wife teaches in Watsonville...too bad you're North, but my wife's sister lives in Oakland, and we visit there about once a month or so...
  19. I always finish the first week. This year was no exception. I'm weird, but I love doing taxes. Hey robert...if you have to do business stuff, it shouldn't be too difficult unless you are a corporation...hehe I usually get a refund from the Fed but have to pay to the state (our taxes are really high here in CA). But I wouldn't put it as a "stressful" things...
  20. Sounds like it could be detox. Or it could be lack of rest. Or you could have picked up a sinus infection. Are you resting more (even though you say your sleep was good)? Maybe add a nap in there, too. Recovery can be easily underestimated.
  21. 25 in two sets. But I'm getting there. Haven't done pushups in years...hehe Thanks for the inspiration Bigbwii
  22. Nice article. Parts remind me of listening to the Dalai Lama.
