  1. Welcome, qwerty! Cool keyboard name!
  2. Awesome work, guys...looks like you had a great time
  3. Awesome, guys! Sounds like you had fun there! Nice biceps...
  4. Just found this link: http://www.happycow.net/vegetarian_catering_directory.html
  5. Hey, robert, If you ever have any booths or event attendance needed/going on in the SF Bay Area and need assistance, please feel free to drop me a line... -Matt
  6. Looking to find who else on the boards is from the SF Bay Area. Seen only a few here, including new member kjs, but California members seem surprisingly quiet and/or few and far between. I'm in Santa Cruz, but about 20 minutes over the hill from San Jose; I consider us to still be part of it. Let's get heard here!
  7. Howdy, kjs...welcome! I'm in Santa Cruz. Great community here; glad you joined up! I got the same thing going with wife and 2 kids, and we've been vegetarian a while but vegan just the last year or two (on and off). My wife's sister lives in Oakland, so we're up there a bit. Cool idea to have a "East Bay Vegan Kids Playgroup Meetup"...let me know in a PM when and where it happens! Good to have you here...
  8. Robert has also posted a couple of meal plans here in the forums or on his site as far as what he does when he's training. If I remember correctly, he spaces meals every 3-4 hours but keeps the calories up, so it really is more like 6-7 meals rather than 3. I'll try to find the link...
  9. Cool, man. On a side note, I love your web site...right on the money there
  10. Cool...we still have a microwave, but we hardly ever use it. Hasn't occurred to us to sell it, but yeah, why not? Good luck getting off Thai Curry...you might be able to make something similar in a food processor without cooking it...room temperature but still good, you might be able to keep it in your diet somewhat.
  11. Potter...we gotta have an endurance ripped-look competition...you and me...right now...
  12. HOLY CRAP...never saw this pic until just now...brendan is friggin' RIPPED holding that bar...jesus i gotta get like that...tell brendan i need that endurance look, too...
  13. Hey, Brian: Welcome! Been there, done that very much the same. I respect your decision to do it. I got to be 50 pounds overweight and it's coming off with some bike commuting, calisthentics, and a whole food vegan diet, but I still got a way to go. I mention this because I can empathize, but it's totally doable. These boards are great and the people are very encouraging and very open to answering questions in a kind way. You came to the right place!
  14. Finn, that's exactly what I'm trying to get going as well out here...could you share your notes on velogreen.org? Or even post it in the Rides forum... I'd like to hear about what you are putting together to get people to ride. Sounds like a perfect idea...right on!
  15. Hansel's SO hot right now!
  16. Terrific! Are you working different muscle groups roughly once a week or are you doing some acclimation? I read before that you'd do Chest and upper body one day, legs another, abs another, etc. That still roughly the plan?
  17. I've always liked Voler a bunch. They have high quality gear at reasonable prices, they are local (California-based). I'd suggest checking out this page: http://www.velowear.com/bottoms.aspx I just bought this pair and they are great (though I prefer bib shorts which are more expensive): http://www.velowear.com/products/1110149PRTXSM.aspx Good luck, Darth
  18. Excellent thinkers, them...
  19. Haven't posted for a couple days, but I've been completely vegan now for a while. In fact, I've gone mostly raw with assorted fruit and veggies, seeds and nuts. I've had that Vega Smoothie Infusion which is wonderful. Less sleep every night, but feeling great when I wake up. About 5 hours of sleep each night. Still a lingering cough, but taking it easy otherwise so I can hit the bike commute training again on Monday. Watching the folks on this forum start getting back into shape (like robert and hero) has got me itching to renew my gym membership. I'm going to forgo the home gym due to immediate cost and lack of space. But I'm interested in doing a little personal BB on the DL.
  20. Even though I'm nowhere near what kind of BB you guys are doing, I had these exact thoughts a few days ago when I was sick. So I just did it and I've been doing the fruitarian thing for a few days and certainly eating raw, with the exception of Vega smoothies in the mornings. Had great and level energy throughout the day, and needed less sleep. Very strange results, but good nevertheless and nothing else is different. Not sure what detox stuff is supposed to happen, but I'm going to stick with it for now.
  21. I'm only eating 1-2 per day. I'd like to up that. Does Vega count for one of those?
