  1. Let me know how you go Hobbs. The trail mix I do switch around depending on where I buy it from but I look for things like dried fruits, cashews, macadamia nuts etc.
  2. Hmmmm, not sure but I would think so. Just cooked up todays lunch and dinner ~ a pretty big vege stirfry with beans, tofu, portobella mushrooms and a few other secret ingredients
  3. Probably not enough, I've occasionally hit the wall and I know that's due to nutrition rather than fitness. Any runs that are 25km or less I might head out with a gel and that's about it (I always make sure I have eaten well beforehand so I'm not hungry), I like the CLIF gels for my shorter runs a the consistency makes them easier to get down. For my long runs I'll take one or two of the PocketFuel gels with me, they're a lot thicker and taste more like a thick peanut butter than a gel. More nutritious and filling, they do the job well http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3384 Other than that I like trail mix and some fruit, bananas are usually the easiest to carry. I don't like relying on sugars, I want to get my energy from natural means and I figure I can get any sugars I might need from the fruit and gels. Drink wise, usually just a standard 750ml drink bottle of electrolytes; I use one that contains 200g of fresh fruit per 500g bag ~ nothing artificial in it and it isn't sweet tasting which I really like.
  4. Also just restocked all of my gels so my long runs are well covered http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3384 Just cooked up todays lunch and dinner ~ a pretty big vege stirfry with beans, tofu, portobella mushrooms and a few other secret ingredients http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3385
  5. It is, really nice man! Also just restocked all of my gels so my long runs are well covered
  6. I use pea protein and either micronised creatine or Kre-Alkalyn (creatine in capsules).
  7. Sourced from algae but still has good levels of EPA/DHA http://mb.cision.com/Public/2151/9413122/859ae54ef2895e63_400x400ar.jpg http://www.lifestream.co.nz/Products/V-Omega-3/default.aspx
  8. Sounds like a great idea, good luck with everything MF.
  9. Oh yeah, I take some of those too haha (except I sub the flax for a vegan fish oil). But in terms of building muscle ~ protein and creatine.
  10. Hahaha, I'm familiar with those grinder type PB's. Good work anyway! Liking your new PB, mean as!
  11. Looks like a beautiful salad !!!! Nom nom. I know a few people that have tried the P90x programme and they have been impressed with it, seems pretty good IMO. How's your week been?
  12. Test boosters... been there and tried a few of them. My advice ~ save your money mate. Stick to the basic supplements in addition to good quality, clean foods and that's really all you need.
  13. Good goals. Finish should be your main objective, forget about the time. This was my first marathon back in 2005, I walked the last 5km after hitting the wall. Very disappointing at the time!
  14. Whoa. Badass !! Best I managed was a dodgy mullet when I was a teenager, haven't had long hair for nearly 20yrs but I'd do dreads if I could.
  15. Love the new journal title, sounds like you have it in the bag but nonetheless I'm happy to help if there's anything you need any help with. Looking forward to following your progress, rock n roll!
  16. Protein, creatine... and that's about all you need buddy. The rest you can get from food ~ just make sure you eat lots of it !! You can make really good gains just from those two supplements on top of a solid (and consistent) nutritional plan. I'm about your weight too btw, don't get sucked in by the marketing hype of supplements as they tend to over promise and under deliver. Good luck and welcome to the forum, great to have you here MF.
  17. Supplies are in, should see me through another couple of weeks http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3380

  19. I think I'd live in France over the UK if I had the chance haha. Haven't ran the Manchester marathon, did run the Liverpool one many years ago and that was pretty good. You have a time frame in mind? Is it your first one?
  20. I hear you man, hard to maintain any degree of impressive muscle when you're training with a marathon in mind. Post up a pic of the dreads from the back!
  21. Good training Rob. You prefer the smith bench to regular or do you like to mix them up? Hope you had a good weekend buddy MF.
  22. Whoa Rob, that would be amazing. They're one of my favourite bands, would be cool to see them with their new drummer. The new album is pretty damn good!
  23. Nice changes buddy ~ love the dreads too! If you ever were to immerse yourself in bodybuilding I truly think you have an amazing physique ready/screaming to grow. You have great structure and aesthetics.
  24. For me there's a few reasons really... ** I suffered a small heart attack in 2010. Found out my cholesterol was really high and so I thought I'd try cutting meat & dairy to see if it helped (which it did). ** Was interested to see if cutting meat out would negatively affect my workouts, strength & recovery like everybody told me it would. It didn't. ** Environmental, animal cruelty reasons etc. http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3371
  25. I am sure you will make it to the finish line with plenty of life left in you. Will be a fantastic experience I bet. Whereabouts are you living in the UK? I'm originally from Stratford Upon Avon, have been living in NZ for 11 years so I class myself as a kiwi now haha.
