Hey guys. Just thought I'd let everyone know that I'm registered to do the North Face Canadian Death Race as a soloist again this summer. For those of you unfamiliar with this race, it is a 125 km. race that goes up and over 3 mountain summits (17,000 feet of elevation change) and needs to be completed in 24 hours. There are 5 main legs to this race; most people do the race as part of a 5 person relay team. Participants also need to be at the end of each leg in a specific time to avoid being disqualified. There are roughly 250 of us who attempt the thing solo. Last year 231 people started the race, 76 finished. This race is known as Canada's hardest race. I came i…

I'm curious if/how endurance athletes on this forum incorporate resistance training into their programs. I've heard some say that high reps are useless for building any kind of strength (even endurance-strength), and I've heard others say that anything under 15 reps is not appropriate for endurance athletes. Personally, I'm doing 2-4 sets of 20 reps for squats, straight-leg deads, overhead presses and bent-over rows once per week. Mike

does anyone know if it is comfirmed whether he is vegan or not? not sure what to believe. i thought it was great when he left the NFL to do his own thing. funny how the media handled that story and called him everything from a drug attict to a traitor/coward. of course when pat tillman left his team to go kill people he never met they called him a hero. ricky played well in his comeback last year. voluntarily plays for the league minimum now. god forbid someonw try and find some humanity in their life. i wish he played for the steelers.

It is with great sadness, confusion, and anger, that we add this to the list of topics to our news section. As I fight back tears, I painfully remember with great fondness a fallen friend. On Saturday, May 5th, Jeremy William Robert Williams (Bill Bob Bills) was found dead. Leaving behind; His parents, his wife Lauren, daughter Brooklyn, and what no other informative media has mentioned, their second unborn little girl. Also, hundreds of friends, all of which, he treated and cared for as family. Many who know Jeremy, can tell you with 100% conviction and certainty, he was there for you. Always trying to make light of any situation, and always willing…

So, do we have good skippers here perhaps? Im pretty interested in good rope skipping, especially for my boxing. But I just wont become any better anymore and I feel pretty burned out. I dont know how people can become as fast as seen on multiple videos.. but anyway I think it is a very good exercise for coordination and stamina. What experience have you made? So any suggestions on how to train or perhaps good training videos or books would be very welcome. Or how about the ropes itself? danny**

Greetings everyone, i've recently been roped into some off season sport, i had planned to bulk for the entire off season anyway, it's a much less serious competition, within the club, but i wanted to get in shape, as i've been rather sedentary cardio-wise since the season ended so yeah, i'm hoping to improve my stamina, and recovery somewhat without effecting my bulking any ideas? i know that cardio effecting gains is a little bit of a misconception, but yeah, any ideas? i was thinking of just doing sprints for 30 mins- an hour every day on my days out of the gym, i don't really like jogging/running that much, but i don't mind the higher intensity stuff like spri…

Went to see the doctor yesterday, and he analyzed how well I could move my arm and when it hurts, etc. Figured I have rotator cuff tendonitis. He gave me some stretches to do. He said I want to avoid lifting things over my head which go back some. A lot of the overhead movements cause some pain such as overhead press, seated dumbell press, and even incline bench the other day left me feeling it bad later. I think i'm going to have to avoid using the muscle group for a while, is that about right? What would you all do/ or have done in this case?

For those of you that follow Mac Danzig he is rumored to be fighting at UFC 124 in Quebec, Canada. His opponent is suppose to be Joe "Daddy" Stevenson. I will see if I can confirm this with Mac as we talk occasionally on twitter.

I want to join in on the Run for Women and I emailed (because they don't have a freaking phone number) about animal testing, but will they lie? can they lie? Do you participate in runs that donate to animal testing charities (such an oxymoron).

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/articlefiles/5282-RyanGracie.jpg RYAN GRACIE DEAD AT 33 A Pride FC fighter, Ryan Gracie was a grandson of Carlos Gracie, one the creators of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. More than 40 sons and grandsons of Carlos Gracie and his brother Helio have practiced the sport, helping popularize it around the world. details are still very sketchy, but it's a very strange story. whatever happened, it is a tragic for this to happen to someone so young and talented. the Gracie family must be devastated.

Well, I have hoped and prayed that this will go away but it has not yet. So far it has been 2 1/2 days with no major signs of improvement or healing. I am not crazy about talking about this but it is a serious and painful issue and if anyone could give me better insight; it would be most appreciated....... I rented a bicycle out here in Portland and after the first right, I had slight discomfort in my testicles but after the second ride the next day, I woke up the next day with MAJOR MAJOR PAIN! It is excruciatingly horrible and somewhat unbearable. I want to cry, it's so bad and it is not going away at all. Basically, it feels like someone is 'squeezing' my test…

This Wall Street Journla article has a video with it http://tinyurl.com/3x639o The PRC is trying to make Wu Shu ( war art ) into its contribution to the Olympic Games by staging a Wu Shu competition at the same time as the upcoming games in Bejing. The monks of the 1,500 year old Shaolin temple in the PRC, know as some of the best fighters in the country have refused to participate saying they practice Kung Fu ( pronounced "Gung Fu" meaning "achieved effort" ) as a compliment to meditation as a mean of reaching the goal of enlightenment.
