Hello, all. After a few years of frequenting veganbodybuilder.com and a couple months following your posts regularly, I thought I might as well step out of the shadows and start contributing to this great online community. I'm a scrawny vegan (of 3.5 years), like some of you seemed to have once been, who's working to build some body mass to show the world that vegans can be strong, too. I've found several of your stories really inspiring and have gained 10 lbs. since coming back home from college for the summer. If you put your mind to it, it's kind of easy and fun! I also just want to give a quick shoutout of thanks to Rob for all the great work he is doing to promot…

Hi all, I've been sooo rude. I've been on this site for donkeys, and have never taken the time to post, nor to introduce myself. (apart from Rob who has helped me out enormously). I'm a Aussie gal living in a very small (I mean don't blink or you'll miss it) farming community. You can imagine how popular a vegan is here! I've been weight training since Cory and Lee Priest graced the covers of Muscle & Fitness (thats over 17yrs). I've got an 8yr old daughter, and 6 dogs (who I love to take jogging every day). We also have an array of chickens, gaots, and a cat called Tiger. We barter our eggs, and will also do the same with our goots milk when they start milkin…

Hello. I am very new to the vegan/organic lifestyle. I am a female fitness competitor and have decided to change my lifestyle due to a recent bad experience with meat that left me very sick and fatigued. I am hoping to learn more about this lifestyle and how to construct a correct diet to help with my bodybuilding. Thanks

Hi I've been lifting regularly for a few years now. I also do road races and would like to do some triathlons. I was on the Swim Team in High School and College but haven't done much swimming since graduation. Mostly I run and lift. I really enjoy doing Pump'n'runs - competitions that combine benching and running. I've been vegetarian for around 24 years. During the past couple of years I've been trying to weed out eggs and dairy from my diet. I don't really like the idea of hurting animals and don't want to support factory farming with my diet.

Hey Rob, Finally got round to joining the forum at last Some of you may know me from VeganFitnessNet, but for those that don't, I have been vegan for six and a half years, running for eleven years and weight training for eight years. I usually run five times a week and go the gym twice a week. I eat oats/porridge, pasta, rice, noodles, TVP/soya mince, dried fruit, loadsa fruit and veg, seeds, nuts et. I take vitamins and minerals. I supplemement with L-Glutamine, and occasionally soy protein, but this seems to bloat me, so I'm thinking of giving it up once and for all. I have tried creatine in the past, but find it cramps my legs and hurts my lower back when I…

Hey everybody. My name is Pete and I live in Dayton, Ohio. I am 26 and have been vegan for close to 8 years. I was lead into vegetarianism because of my weight in highschool (I was what I considered obese. When I graduated I started learning about veganism and quickly made the full conversion. I was already involved in karate and a little bit of kickboxing at this point. I noticed a huge difference in my ability to train with much greater results. More about me if you have Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/xveganpetex

I'm Jon. I am returning to a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle after being lazy for a few years. I'm 41, live in the Rocky Mountains (but not in Colorado), have a wonderful family, and teach jr. high/high school in a rural school that has a view of the Teton Moutains. I have been lifting since 14. My dad was tired of having a skinny kid running around the house so he bought me a Sears Orbitron Weight Set, a couple of cannisters of that crappy protein powder that never mixed right, and a weightlifting belt. I lifted for the next four years and boosted my bodyweight from 125 lbs. to a whopping 145 lbs. But, I was cut! (I was 5' 9"). I have lifted on and off since. Bo…

Hello! 22 yo guy in Vancouver, BC here. First-year Kinesiology student as of September (nerves shot, completely). Just getting back into veganism after about a year break (was vegan for about 6 months before that). Can be hard without a supportive group of friends, but I'm working on that, too. Been lifting for around two years now, recently (2 months ago) started a new program that I worked with a trainer on, and have been happy with the results thus far. I focused before that just on losing weight, as I was quite a bit heavier, and lost about 110 lbs, all said and done. Now it's time to fine-tune things a bit - bring on the visible abs!! Anyway, looks like a f…

Hi all. I've been vegetarian for five years and became vegan on my 29th birthday about a month ago. I am 5'10, 140lbs and would like to.... 1. Gain mass! 2. Lose my gut (too many donuts/chip-eating over the years--- in the photos below, it doesn't look like I have one... but I do, especially if I lean over or if I'm sitting). 3. Lose the excess body fat I want to basically look like Edward Norton when he was in American History X. I have the same body type as him in Fight Club (less ripped really) but I want that American History X body. I try to take in 3000 calories a day or more but it's hard. Usually I can only get in about 1700 on average. And like 75 grams o…

Hi everyone! I'm Liz. I learned about this place from Vegan Fitness. I'm a 32 year old woman, living in Baltimore, obviously. I have been a vegetarian for 11 or 12 years, and I am an aspiring vegan. I really want to be one for ethical reasons, but am having trouble gathering up willpower. I've really cut down on eggs and dairy and all that, but haven't managed to go completely vegan yet. I have been XC mountain biking for a number of years, maybe about 7. Last year I bought a road bike, and this year I joined a team. I just started working out in the gym as well and am really enjoying that. Vegan Fitness has been really helpful, and I'm sure this board will …

hi my name's donovan, iv been vegan for about 2 months now, never felt better. i was converted by my wife. i hate that i didn't figure this vegan thing out sooner, but on the bright side... beter late than never. im a recently retired pro muay thai fighter and occasional boxer. going back to school for a real job. my goals are to put on about 5 pounds of lean body mass, to increase my explosive endurance to a solid half hour and to do a backflip without touching my hands to the ground.

Hey everyone. I'm just looking to see where I can get enough protein to sustain myself. I'm 20 years old & female, but I run for 2 hours each day and I do some really light weights (like 8 lbs) for my arms. If anyone has any info on what proteins shakes are available in the area (I'm guessing from wild oats).. please let me know! Thanks ~Cristi

I figured I should quit being lazy and do an intro. Hi, I'm Ashley, I've been veg for over 2 years, been vegan most of the time with the occasional lapse of judgement. I had a brief raw foods stint which ended up messing up my metabolism. Rob's site was one of the first I found when going vegan so it has helped me alot. Lots of cool people on here. I used to run cross country and play soccer. I also used to train Jeet Kune do. Now I train Taekwondo and Aerobic kickboxing, but I've been out for a few weeks with a back injury. I also do weight training and extra cardio and dabble in Tai Chi and Yoga. My main goals are weight loss and overall fitness and health. I'm …

Hey there everyone! My name is Hanjo, I'm 20 years old, was born and live in Bayreuth, Germany. being a veg: Growing up in a family with zero vegetarians, I decided pretty early in my life to stop eating meat. In fact we're a family where it's a highlight to meet on sundays and perfrom a (how should I call it?) huge eating event. And the greatest thing is always a roast or sth.... I can't even tell you exactly why, but being just 8 years old I just felt it wasn't right to eat an animal. My fam and especially my Mom who always had to cook for me had absolutely no problems with it. In fact she was an activist for nature conservation and stuff. I never wanted to e…

My name is Melissa. I'm 27 and live in Indianapolis. I've been vegan for the last 5 years. I started going to the gym three or four years ago just because I hated feeling so sedate. In the years since I've lost motivation in part because, due to being vegan/vegitarian, I haven't gotten a lot of support from those around me. I've been a member at two gyms and had trainers at both who didn't take my goals seriously because I'm vegan. I got tired of hearing "you need meat if you want to succeed". So I stopped working with trainers and continued to just go and do my own thing for a while- but after a while I started slacking off. I didn't have very clearly defined goals and i…
