Love the new avatar! People joined in and did "christmas" themed stuff in December - who's up for a nudity themed January?

robert
Are your thoughts for Avatars like the Xmas ones or a nudity thread in a certain section? I don't find nudity to be offensive. As some of you recall from the Vegan Vacation (I ran around only wearing an apron one day that kept becoming untied) It sucks that our society makes us more afraid of nudity than things that cause illness. In our society it is more offensive to be without clothes than to slaughter animals. As far as the forum goes, I'd rather see a thread about nudity where people can post photos and I can put a disclaimer on there, rather than Avatars that everyone visiting the site will see. I know it sounds like I'm contradicting myself, but I'm just looking out for the best interest of the whole forum. We have a community and I don't want to turn members away. At the same time, being naked is less offensive than eating cheese, so I guess do whatever you want and I'll see how it goes.
Guest
Yay....I didn't think this forum would ever get any more entertaining. Can we have a live webcam section too I was thinking about getting a satelite feed and putting a camera on my handlebars facing my nude body while I ride around Richmond

robert
I think as long as it is vegan and if we put up a disclaimer in a certain thread propbably within the Relationship section, we can do whatever we want. I just don't want to turn people off, but I want people to have fun and feel free to be themselves. You guys know me....I'd rather see nudity than offensive language. JW
Absolutely agree RobertIt's mindboggling how our society is hung up on the slightest hint of nudity. Can you believe how primetime television shows fuzz out even a hint of someone's bum crack? Remember the Janet Jackson Superbowl performance? You can see more than that on most TV programs

Remember the Janet Jackson Superbowl performance? You can see more than that on most TV programs Yeah, our Puritan ancestors shine through sometimes in North America. The Europeans find us so amusing. It's nothing there to see nudity in the newspaper, on tv, at the beach etc. That said, there are plenty of porn and nude sites on the net. We don't need to become one. I think we should have a thread where nudity is acceptable, but it should be limited to members posting pictures of themselves. There are some threads like that on veganfreaks.com, one of vegan butts and one of naked vegans cooking, serving or wearing food. Another good idea would be to limit that section to registered members, to protect people's privacy and keep out spam as much as possible. The member's photos thread on veganfitness.net is secure in that way, so phpBB supports it. Okay, so who is getting naked?
robert
Good call, MH. I know how to make sections secure for only registered members, etc. (I think). But I don't know if the same can be done for one specific thread. Maybe a disclaimer could work instead, rather than requiring registeration and being logged in to view an entire section. We'll see what we can come up with.

A lot of forum members including yourself have some pretty personal stuff in there. Also, it would be intriguing for lurkers wondering what the heck is going on in there, it might inspire more people to register. I'm sure you'll make it work whatever is chosen. robert
I'll think about it. I put personal stuff everywhere. If I get well known enough, maybe we'll see some of it in tabloids! Sometimes I feel like I have to be careful about what I do, what I say, what photos I post, etc. But other times I feel like I shouldn't have to worry and just post and say whatever I want. Maybe it might be a good idea to lock those sections up. I might start a poll soon.
