  2. Join IDA in L.A. on Global Day of Action againstthe Chinese Fur Industry International Anti-Fur Coalition plans protests in U.S. and 10 other countries on February 13th Over half of the world's fur today is produced by China, a country with no animal welfare laws where millions of dogs and cats are also killed for fur every year. Undercover video investigations have shown Chinese fur farm workers skinning animals alive without concern for their pain, leaving them to a slow and agonizing death. Though illegal in the U.S., dog and cat fur still winds up on store shelves through a loophole which exempts manufacturers and retailers from having to label fur garments under $150 with information about the species of animal or country of origin. IDA is one of the many organizations around the world fighting to stop this ongoing atrocity, and proudly joins the International Anti-Fur Coalition in the annual global day of action against the Chinese fur industry taking place on Tuesday, February 13th. IDA is coordinating demonstrations at Chinese Consulates and Embassies in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C. Other participating groups will hold protests in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Ireland, Israel, Estonia, France, Turkey, Thailand and Belgium. About 120 people attended IDA's exciting demonstration in Los Angeles last year. Please join us this year and stand up for the cats, dogs and other animals suffering on Chinese fur farms. What: Protest against the Chinese fur industry When: Tuesday, February 13th starting at 11:00 a.m. Where: Consulate General of the Peoples Republic of China, 443 Shatto Place, Los Angeles Whether or not you are able to make it to the demonstration, please call or fax the Chinese Consulate on February 13th to urge them to stop killing dogs and cats for fur and to pass meaningful animal welfare laws. Please be polite and respectful in your communications with Consulate staff. 3. Received this bulletin and thought important enough to share.... ******************************************************* Feel free to check source through numbers listed below. SCAMMER LOOKING FOR BAIT DOGS!!! FYI... WARNING! PLEASE CROSSPOST!!! THANK YOU!!! Recently we recieved a call from a man claiming to be a dog trainer. His name was Will Duncan. He said that he rehabilitated dogs, and trained them for various companies including for the handicapped. He also said he was from USA Dog Training, and he personally trained Cesar Millan. He will tell various stories, but basically wants to get free dogs. He claims to have federal and state licenses. He recently stole dogs from a Jefferson County shelter. He is from Topeka, and claims that he just moved there from California. If fact, he is a big scammer. Nothing he says is true. He told us he wants aggressive dogs to rehab and medium to large sized high drive dogs. We got a call from the Kansas Animal Health Department to warn us about him. They were trying to warn everyone before he called, but he had already called us. We believe he is using these dogs for pit-bait. We believe he is selling these "high-drive" or "aggressive" dogs that he gets from shelters to pit fighters who use them to "train" there dogs to fight and kill. He lives in a trailer in Topeka with his brother. Last time it was checked, he had 14 dogs that he keeps in tiny pens in and around his trailer. Please do not release any of your dogs to him. If he does call, please call Judy Bishop at: 785-633-7002 with any information you obtain about him. They are trying to make a criminal case up but he just keeps staying one step in front of the law. The personal information I have obtained about him is: Name: Will Duncan Address: 1123 NE Jefferson, Trailer #4, Topeka , KS (actual address) Cell Phone: 785-231-7245 Toll Free Number: 877-949-9DOG Fake Company Name: USA Dog Training Thanks and Good Luck, Please forward to other shelters and animal people! 4. Gianna's desserts aren't vegan ?!!! I have always asked and they've told me no egg and no dairy. What do they put in them ? Horizons is great ! I highly recommend it. Now with the food out of the way, you and your gf make a cute couple VP. (Where's Govinda's ? )
  5. Hang in there K-oz. We'll be here when you're ready to come back.
  6. Actually soy protein and b12 are natural components. Alot of meat eaters are also experiencing a b12 deficiency as noted below, because b12 is made from bacteria. I don't support hunting to control the population -- would any condone the killing of humans due to overpopulation ? If not, what's the difference ? Like it or not, predators are a part of nature and are built to be carnivores - humans are not. With the predators' eradication due to hunting, people moving in and destroying their environments, of course there will be a surge in other populations (ie, deer). (However, I do believe that one year deer were brought in to PA prior to the hunting season. ) As for who's vegan and who's not - imho actions are what matter (ie, not eating, wearing, or using products derived from animals). I agree with Trev on this point. Man is the only species that will kill for sport, entertainment, fashion, greed, etc. Very base reasons, considering most humans like to think they are the "superior species." Imo humans are just another species on this planet that like to fool themselves into believing they are in control. This mindset may have worked when the human species was trying to survive, but that doesn't make it any more true now than it was then. True carnivores kill only to survive. Gaia - hang in there. We've all gone through many emotional upsets and sometimes people let off steam. Don't take it personally.
  7. 1/05/07...for immediate release... For info: 818-623-6477 It's time to take vivisectors to the mat for what they do to animals...CHYNA is so mad, she wants to "kick their ass"!!! Join former WWF superstar "CHYNA" (JOANIE LAURER), the BARBI TWINS, PAMELYN FERDIN (and other celebrities to be announced) in the march to KNOCK OUT "vivisection" (unnecessary, cruel, torturous, deadly, wasteful, scientifically- fraudulent animal experimentation) conducted on the UCLA campus. After radio talk show host BOB LINDEN ("GO VEGAN WITH BOB LINDEN" www.GoVeganRadio.com ) was rejected by the UCLA Chancellor for an interview regarding the Chancellor's assertions of medical progress advanced by UCLA animal experimentation (and admitting to 950 current animal experiments), LINDEN was again rejected in his request for a tour of the experimentation facilities. In response, LINDEN decided that a march on campus would be appropriate to help build public awareness of the publicly-funded atrocities of vivisection -squandering $200 million annually by UCLA alone - and actually hindering medical advancement. "If they want to keep doing that to animals, I want to kick their ass", CHYNA exclaimed in response to the injustices of vivisection where the strong overpower and abuse the weak - for greed. *********************************************************************************** "UCLA Animal-Experimenter CELEBRITY-SMACKDOWN 2007" Friday January 19th...Meet at noon at Westwood Blvd and LeConte...March on campus at 12:30pm ************************************************************************************* Marching alongside CHYNA will be cover models, the BARBI TWINS, and actress PAMELYN FERDIN (iconic child star who gained fame in "Star Trek", and as the voice of "Lucy" in "Peanuts", and as Tony Randall's daughter in "The Odd Couple") More celebrity participation will be announced... The BARBI TWINS will also be promoting the new movie from Academy Award - winning film maker CURT JOHNSON, for which they served as Associate Producers. They will attend a sneak preview screening of "Your Mommy Kills Animals", along with CHYNA and FERDIN on the day after the march - Saturday, January 20, 2pm - 6pm, at the American Film Institute, 2021 N. Western Avenue in LA. Details are at www.GoVeganRadio.com
