You mean in North America ? This reviewsays the number is 35-50, but the reviewer wasn't impressed with the author's research. So the author's numbers should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

Serial killers don't usually plan their murders, they usually fantasize until they get themselves into a frenzy and when they see a person who fits their criteria, take the opportunity when it presents itself. Not to be an alarmist, but according to this guy's websitethere are a currently number of serial killers working in North America and about 4 loose in the UK. I hope he's not right.

I don't watch many scary movies, but had watched the Ring and decided to see the Ring 2 -- after a couple of minutes I closed the TV and haven't tried to watch it since. (Something about evil, maniacal and murdering children that can go anywhere they want to scares the pants off me ! )

They suspect there's a serial killer at work in New Jersey as well. His choice of victims also seems to be prostitutes.
