  1. Where do you go to school?

When I go back home for the holidays I usually stop and T & S. If i have time i go into new haven. T & S has raw nori and some other things i cannot get here and edge of woods has a bunch of things. I got my mother to start going to T & S.

  2. VP, i have been running the Conti 4000 for probably over 4,000 miles now. I rotated the tires at around 2,500 miles because the rear was squaring over. I am going to push another 1,000 miles out of them but it will be tough. I am pretty light so if i get 4,000 mile out of them that would be incredible. I usually only average about 3,000 on a pair of tires due to the aweful roads I ride on. The Contis have 2 wear holes on them to tell you how much they are worn. Well i can barely see mine. They are awesome tires though.

I totally love the Victorria CX tires. They have the nices road feel out there but i constantly get flats because of the aweful roads i ride on. If i race i switch to Vicctorias but I was going to keep the Contis on for Mt.washington.

How good is your dicounton the contis?

Yes, everytime i am in the shop i see how many people, especially men, go in to get a flat changed. I am tempted to sit outside the shop and change their flat for $5. i would make a lot of money. It sure is not rocket science to change a flat

  3. VP, I know how you feel.

You can always use a $1 dollar bill as a boot. I have done it before and it is very strong. Also, you can use the bad inner tube. Just cut out a section. I just carry a spare 2" x 2" inner tube patch for an emergency boot now a days.

$50/pair. That is cheap. My tires cost me $100 plus for a pair.

    What tires do you run?

  4. Octopussoir,

I ate the Almond cookie and it is DYNAMITE!!! Not too sweet, just perfect. Did you use ground almonds in them?

I am not a fan of bananas so am leaving the banana one for last but i bet it will be good. I will try the peanut butter one next. I am excited. Thank you SO much for making and sending them out. This is only the second time I have had vegan cookies (I don't usually eat sweets) and these by far blow the other cookies away. I think you are on to something.

  5. VP, what are you doing at the bike shop?

I will break 5,000 miles tonight. Not too bad considering i did not start riding outside until march because of the weather. But I am way behind compared to last year.

10,000 miles is a lot of miles. Good Job!!

It was 35 degrees this morning. Have not broken out the real winter gear yet but I am getting close.

  6. Anyone have a good recipe for Seitan?

My friend gave me a package of seitan I ate a piece right out of the package. It is pretty good and I was wondering what you can do with it

  7. VP, I cannot really answer that because I felt fantastic.

My leg strength really impressed me.

I did get dizzy a little at the 12,000 ft mark but I took some Nux Vomica and within 2 minutes the headache and dizziness was gone and i was flying up the mountain again. Altitude hit me a little on the way down but again I took some more Nux Vomica and I was good.

  8. Yep, it is pretty hard to be vegan here let alone raw vegan. We are out in the field all day so I have all ready gone through a case of clif bars and Vega bars. (we are working in an area with no food places) At night we go out to dinner and they put fish in everything and everything is cooked. I can't wait to get home and have tons of fresh raw vegeatables to eat. I am also here with 2 meat eaters. Not bad but they do harrass me alot.

However, we just climed Mt. Fuji and I made it to the top and they did not. they were amazed that i beat them and I attributed it to not eating Mc.Porks (these pork sandwiches that McDonalds serves here) and other animals.

But all in all it had been a very interesting experience and the most physically demanding business trip I have ever been on.

I know I will be back here or somewhere else in Asia again soon

  9. Tasha, great to hear you are back on the bike. I would love to get up to BC for some riding.

VP: You climb Mt.Fuji not bike it. It is pretty hard. I climbed it this past wednesday with 2 co-workers. They did not sumit but I did. I actually flew up the mountain I felt so good and strong. I think all my hard bike training paid off. However, today (it is friday in japan right now) my legs are so sore i cannot walk. They have NEVER been this sore in my life but it was an experience of a lifetime. It was really bad weather so the pictures may not be any good. When I get home I will try to post some here.

  10. Thanks for the well wishes but I was back on the bike the next day. I went to my holistic DC and she found a homeopathic remedy that has dramatically reduced the pain. It is amazing. Not only does it help with the pain but it increases the healing time. My regular dr gave me 6-8 weeks, she told me 2-3 weeks berfore I am completely healed and I believe it. I think i am almost 100%.

I will be climbing Mt. Fuji in a few days so that will be a good test.

I tell you I now know why just a groin pull causes NFL players to sit on the bench for 3-4 weeks. It hurts!!

  11. I will be figuring out my route when I get back for Japan. I am leaving for a 3 week business trip tomorrow.

However, I plan on riding the Northern tier.

Probably over 60 miles a day.

    Which tent do you have?

My big purchases will be a trailer, tent, rain pants and maps from AC.

I don't plan on bringing cookware because i eat raw.

I also want to ride with as little as possible

VP, I would love another bike. Thing is I love my litespeed so much I would love to ride him across the US. He just turned 7 years old and has over 42,000 miles on him. He is my sole mate.

I hope to meet a whole lot of forum members along the way.

  12. As some of you may know I was to race the Mt.washington hillclimb this weekend. Well I crashed on my bike 2 weeks ago, got a concussion, broke a thumb, tore my groin muscle and cracked a bone in my leg.

Did this keep me off the bike, no but I have been in a lot of pain.

Anyway, Dr's told me not to race but I was not going to listen.

I think God wanted me to listen because the weather was so bad they cancelled the race. This says it all:
