  1. I don't make them, I steal them. Everytime I see Mr. T I wonder how much those gold chains weigh. I use to love The A Team. Of course, I've been in love with George Peppard since Breakfast at Tiffany's. He was like 56 when he died -- so young. "I love it when a plan comes together!"
  2. Our next house will be big enough to get a pool table so I can kick my husbands butt. However, he will want one of those fold out table tennis conversions so he can kick mine right back.
  3. That last one is great & so truthful!!
  4. Be safe Ash & be sure to keep us updated! Sounds like fun!
  5. Thanks! I will make note of this thread.
  6. Thanks! Just bought one. "Television is to news what bumper stickers are to philosophy." R. Nixon That may be true, but sometimes, bumper stickers can sum up an entire perspective in a few words. Although, admittedly, prior to this administration, I never put a bumper sticker on my car. Here are a couple I'm thinking of getting: People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it's easier to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs. If you want to wear fur, stop shaving. Thanks again for the link!!
  7. OMG!! LMAO!! I must have that! Do you know where I can get one?
  8. We're making this again this weekend. Just thought I'd kick it to the top so the newcommers could see this wonderful recipe! BTW, I put about 1/2 cup of nutritional yeast in my pizza dough mix & it was great!
  9. I'm a kid at heart but my body betrays me! Best costumes: Indian princess -- except the kids teased me cuz I have blue eyes. Blood dripping Dracula -- lots of fun Ragdoll -- my least favorite costume Bumble bee -- I loved the wings & used them with another costume when I was older. Caveman kid -- loved this cuz I got to smear dirt on my face! Sea fairy -- beautiful costume, but I lost track of this one. Hippie with the coolest tye dye shirt & a super cool peace sign necklace. This was my mothers least favorite costume. She hated it, which of course, led me to LOVE it! As an adult, my fave costume has been my Sam I Am. I have a rockin' paper mache Green Eggs & Ham. The ham is so absolutely fantastic, with a little fork sticking out of it. Whenever I wear this costume, people always comment on what a great costume it is. I think it brings out the kid in everyone. Unfortunately, no photos. We were not a photo taking family. If grandma wasn't there, there were no photos. But please, share yours!!! I love Halloween costumes & seeing photos of others always generates good ideas!
  10. At my current level of fitness, I'm happy with any muscle soreness, although I agree with Nat that triceps is nice cuz it's such an akward muscle to work out, imo. It's also the one flabby muscle that you always notice on little old ladies. When we first got our Rockit I was incapacitated for 3 days! It hurt to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs. I WAY overdid it!!
  11. Ohhhhh, I LOVE Halloween! My fave holiday!! My mom made me some kick butt costumes. I probably won more costume contests than any kid! Since then, I've made quite a few myself. I have a trunk full of costumes. And even more ideas for costumes!
  12. I ordered this book & his other one, "When Elephants Weep." VegHed, have you read either of these books?
  13. We expect to read posts of sore muscles on Tuesday! I've been fighting a sinus infection AND strep throat. After 10 days of feeling sub-human, today is the first day I've felt human. Early to bed tonight & Friday night & then, Saturday I hit the workout area with no expectations other than I will do something!
  14. You could call it "The Malfunctioning Potato Support Group" or "When Good Potatoes Go Bad."
  15. Animal companions are definitely a vegan quandry. If you read the entire thread, you will find many who state that it was through their intimate encounters with their animals that they expanded their compassion to include all animals. I agree, that it is contrary to the vegan way of life to feed your companion animals meat, but Violet, at some point you need to come to terms with the fact that we live in a non-perfect world & in many situations compromises must be made. The goal is to set yourself up so you have the most options to make the most non-violent compromises. Sometimes I think you forget you are preaching to the chior here. We're on your side, really, we are, but your constant antagonism wears me down. I have a friend who says that the only perfect vegan is a dead vegan & that you don't want to be in that group!
  16. LOL! I think we all do a good share of that! Welcome!
  17. Jay said: I agree with Jay. It doesn't matter what we ate in the past & if it affected our evolution, what matters is the here & now. The way we regard & treat our fellow non-human companions on this planet is a stain on our humanity, one that I believe affects us at a fundamental level. "Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages." — Thomas A. Edison I tell people I'm veg cuz eating low on the food chain is a healthier way to live -- spiritually, environmentally & physically. My other fave comment is to tell them I like to eat as far away from my own DNA as possible!
  18. So you broke your gym in? How do you like it?
  19. Liz, Are Yukon golds available in your area all year? We rarely have them, so it's real treat when they do show up.
  20. Welcome Molly! I think running is the hardest exercise! Good luck!
  21. Welcome DM! I beleive there are a few people here looking to shed a few pounds this year, myself included. I think a wholesome vegan diet will be beneficial to reaching your goals. As for the ethical vs health motivation, both end up helping the animals.
  22. Soon you will be mapping out paths through grocery stores that avoid the death department! Welcome to VBB, and check out the recipes forum, especially anything posted by Vegan Madre. ~~smacks lips
