  1. Eh, why does it suck? Just because it's 3 hours of commercials to watch 10 minutes of action? Yeah definitely Steelers.
  2. I'm trying to do a really high volume workout lately (like minimum of 30 sets per exercise) and I really don't have time for dips, benches and military presses. So I just want to do two (supersetted but with rest time inbetween) and haven't been able to definitively decide which two to do. If you had to choose one or the other, which would you choose? Pro dips 1. You can move more weight with dips. 2. You can hit your tris much harder. 3. You get a really nice defined cut between your chest and mid torso. 4. Maybe it's more of a functional exercise then laying on your back and pretending a bus fell on you...? 5. Also expecially with 30 sets, it's a pain getting on and off the bench over and over again. 6. I lift alone and dips are not as potentially dangerous as benches. Pro benches 1. It's more a exercise to brag about if you can do a lot. 2. I've got bands now so I can hit my tris pretty hard with benches anyway. 3. Can hit shoulders a bit more with benches than dips, but personally I'm already doing military presses though, so that isn't a concern. 4. Maybe I could defend myself in a fight (not that I get into fights) a little better with the muscle from benches.....? Cons Both can hurt shouldres. Benches have been bothering my left shoulder just a little lately. Dips haven't bothered my shoulders lately but have in the past. It seems like dips are the way to go but I just got these bands that I really want to use with the bench. Really love the way the bench feels with the bands.
  3. The far right looks more attractive to me but I really don't like tans at all. I like really fair skin.
  4. Finally got those bands. I really like the way they feel. I got two of the 5 to 35 pounds bands I think it was. I just strapped each to one side of the bar, underneath the bench, then back up to the other side of the bar. A single one isn't enough resistance, but two feels pretty good. I wonder if that will hit my tris more than dips....? I'm trying to hit just a couple exercises with high volume. I was going to do military presses, chins, and then some dips. Not sure but I'm wondering again about doing benches with bands instead of dips. It's strange but the lockout being harder makes the bottom and middle feel lighter than I think it normally would...?
  5. The thread was started like 6 months ago.
  6. I think it's the drugs that makes that unattractive. I think a woman can be hugely muscular and cut and still be attractive provided she isn't on drugs. I have seen some huge women that were attractive. I recall some girl who was benching 400? I think and she looked very attractive. In the strongwomen world champoinships there's a lady from Finland who came in second once or twice who was very attractive. That lady in the OP is not attractive. Sans panties I bet her "stuff" is starting to resemble a penis from all the drugs.
  7. Thank you for sharing. Thanks for pointing out that this sort of thing happens all the time in our grossly inefficient capitalist system. I'm glad you're doing OK.
  8. Hey thanks Phoenix, it's rock bottom for this career I had. Not like my whole life. It's extremely angering because the last 9 years were very hard. Not very fun at all. So for it all to be wasted is tough, but I think I'm coping. I just pointed out part of my circumstances to show that I've really had to work hard to find ways to relax. So my "thinking of death" is really one that works. Anyway I appreciate your concern very much. Thank you.
  9. Cool dip rack. I wouldn't have thought it would be stable like that. I would have thought it would need some support between the two posts higher up. How'd the 180 chins in an hour go?
  10. Hey, whatever floats your boat !! Well go to university for 9 years, make good grades and then have one pyscho boss destroy your career. Now you can't get a job in your profession and you're overqualified for everything else. The stress got so bad as a result you might need surgery for one of many health problems that suddenly come up. The house you were tricked into buying you are going to lose 25,000 in the selling. And every week that goes by still unemployed you are slowly being murdered for all intents and purposes. And there's nothing (legal) you can do. Nothing, nothing, nothing. If it ever happens to you just remember my relaxation technique. I have plenty of others in my arsenal that I use everyday as necessary but that's the ace.
  11. I think about death. No matter what I'm still going to end up dead so I might as well relax and enjoy myself in the meantime.
  12. Yeah I think so. I've just been a lot stronger with a medium to narrow stance in the past. Squatted 400 at age 20 with just 8 months of training with a med/narrow stance. Started again at 31 and mainly because of ankle ligament damage I switched to a really wide stance but after 18 months still could only do 345. (Could just be that I'm older now and haven't played any sports like I used to.) But normally with a wide stance you would think it would be possible to squat more. I was going like Westside style wide (as wide as possible). (Ryan actually uses a medium stance last I saw.) Because my back was hurting me (herniated a disc last Feb) I've decided a medium stance squat is probably just out for good. Maybe I'll try messing around with a really wide stance again and see how it feels. I may be weaker but it's better than nothing. With a really wide stance I can keep my torso pretty upright so maybe it won't be as tough on my back.
  13. The guys/girl from Upright Citizens Brigade. Please sign the petition to get comedy central to release seasons 2 and 3 on DVD. http://www.petitiononline.com/ucbdvd23/petition.html
  14. Tuesday Tried high volume with push presses and benches but along with lower back concerns my left shoulder bothered me slightly on push presses. Not much, but enough to abort considering the kind of volume I want to do. Instead did strict military presses w/ 73lbs, usually 8 reps; 35 sets and a few sets of dips. Wednesday Did 31 sets of chin/pullups. Usually got about 7 reps. Resting left elbow for now on OACs.
  15. http://www.blackvegetarians.org/features/vegetariansurveyresults.htm It's hard to read now (I read it before when it wasn't all globblyglooked) but only 14% for ethical reasons. Something's not right there and I think it's worth thinking about what that might be. It might give general insights into why people become or don't become vegan/vegetarian. Although I realize most people prefer to just avoid the topic because it's potentially politically incorrect/controversial. Maybe just that the people who visit that site aren't as likely to be ethically veg as the general black veg population.
  16. Here's what I eat: viewtopic.php?t=1640 Relevant info is that I kick ass.
  17. The situps are really impressive. But that's really not too hard. I think a lot of people on this forum could do that tomorrow if they really wanted to. Very easy 5 rep sets, 20 sets per hour. Would take 16 hours. It would be really boring though.
  18. I guess that has video with it. My computer is just acting funny and all I hear is the music.
  19. Yeah I posted too and tried to keep the thread going. Sadly, starting a little bit of an argument makes it get a ton more views. Last I checked it had 4 times more views than any thread on the front page. I hope you don't mind what I said. Pointing out the fruitarian thing. Not to mention not letting that one guy's ridiculous criticisms pass. I can't stand that site by the way. But it's a very popular site, with a big meat bias so it's really good every now and then to give them a wake up. If I ever get a one arm chin, I guess I'll get a video and post it there.
  20. Will, you've strawmaned people's positions into just pointless intolerance. It's a little insulting that you really think all we're talking about is whether or not it looks good. The point was that someone who cares so much about looks they'd have surgery might be more likely to treat people badly who they consider to not look good.
  21. "As regards the substance of anarchism itself, it was Kropotkin's aim to prove that communism - at least partial - has more chances of being established than collectivism, especially in communes taking the lead, and that free, or anarchist-communism is the only form of communism that has any chance of being accepted in civilized societies; communism and anarchy are therefore two terms of evolution which complete each other, the one rendering the other possible and acceptable." -- Petr Kropotkin, "Anarchism," Encyclopedia Britannica (1910). Daniel, what about imperialism? You are aware of it I'd suppose. Country after country that tried to turn even to liberal policies had their government overthrown. http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Blum/US_Interventions_WBlumZ.html The only few that survived that turned away from capitalism were the ones that turned to authoritarian high security type governments that had far less chance of coups nor any chance of successful funding of opposition candidates. The hell the USSR went through from 1917 up till the end of WWII (at which point the state was completely corrupt) is a good example of why anarchism doesn't work. In that the Bolsheviks would have simply been overthrown immediately if they instead got rid of the transitional government and went straight to anarchy. They were attacked by 14 nations including the US, Britain and Germany. Furthermore many of the "bourgeoise" were against the new system and collaborated in treasonous activities. It was a miracle communism survived in any form at all considering what they had to deal with. Unfortunately with Stalin's mysterious death and Beria's assasination (while attempting a last ditch effort to overthrow the corrupt beauracracy http://eserver.org/clogic/2005/furr.html ), it was only a matter of time before the new ruling class decided to expropiate the property of the people (return to capitalism) With Gorbachev's theft the life expectancy dropped from 65 to 57 which means that a minimum of 15 million people died premature deaths. A holocaust that was simply ignored by the MSM in the celebration for the new "freedom". With the successful smearing of Stalin into a genocidal dictator by Nazi and other Fascist elements (William Randolph Hearst for example, here's a good book online about the supposed genocidal famine. http://www.rationalrevolution.net/special/library/tottlefraud.pdf and an article: http://www.chss.montclair.edu/english/furr/vv.html ) leftists ignore the history of the USSR thinking it nothing more than a total, horrific failure from which nothing can be learned.
  22. I think you have to be very nonconfrontational with them. First compliment them on being vegetarian. Then tell how easy it is to be vegan followed by explaining that vegetarianism still is tied into animal cruelty plus going all the way to vegan gets rid of the mindset of using animals as food.
  23. Yeah, that sort of thing pisses me off. They usually think it's pretty funny. I'd like to laugh while I do some funny things in return. Partially related, my one brother in law, who's a mostly pretty good guy, not a koolaid drinker (Bushie) or anything, is on the Atkins diet to lose weight. When he eats carbs, he really does blow up; like to 300 pounds; very slow metabolism. He's seen me eat just ridiculous amounts of food my whole life so my veganism doesn't really mean much to him as far as losing weight goes. For his health he is extremely concerned about losing weight and so he's just not receptive to the ethical arguments right now. So when I'm around him I have to watch him pretty much eat enough meat to make up for probably 3 vegan/vegetarians and it's kind of annoying.
  24. Jay thinks that if you place a different amount of value on different species, then you're a specieist, (without the s in the spelling which doesn't belong). Jay thinks that basically everyone is a specieist and as such the word is pointless. Jay further thinks Singer, Ryder, and Dunayer are longwinded self important fools. But that's pretty much what it means to be a writer and that can't really be helped. Jay isn't longwinded or self important enough to bother writing books so his opinion doesn't really count for much.
