  1. Nothing really groundbreaking today, just a solid workout. Thursday - Barbel Bench Press - 5x135 pounds 4x185 3x205 2x215 3x1x225 2x225 My first double with 100kg! Deadlift - 6x135 pounds 5x225 4x315 2x365 1x405 Met a cool 17 year old who worked in with me on deadlifts. He is 150 pounds after putting on 30 in the last year. He was surprised to learn that I only eat plants and weigh 240 pounds. I think it made a real impression when I pulled up 405 pounds without breaking a sweat.
  2. Welcome! Can never have too much "soycheese".
  3. I wonder if they have any sheep on St. Thomas?
  4. I get the stars and the throbbing neck arteries. When doing flyes, I sometimes have to rest a second in the down position and take a big breathe to continue. I sometimes build up intense nasal pressure when doing deadlifts, feels like my sinuses are going to explode.
  5. I would suggest carbs and protein with every meal. Aim for at least 3 meals per day and 3 snacks or smoothies between meals. Protein should be at least 1.5 grams per kilogram of bodyweight. Fats are important too, if you aren't gaining try adding a few tablespoons of flax or olive oil to your diet. If you still aren't gaining, just eat more. Eat until you can't eat any more. I have been gaining steadily 1kg per week for about 6 weeks now.
  6. I don't think it's generational, we are about the same age and I have heard of all but one of the bands mentioned. Hard to believe though that Black Sabbath started almost 40 years ago!
  7. Some unfortunate person sent personal emails to my hotmail account for about a year straight. I could tell she sent them to the intended recipient most of the time, but a couple of times per month I would get an email. I went along with it for a long time and would just make up responses to the emails. I couldn't believe how long it took her and the often several people copied on the emails to figure out something was wrong.
  8. Welcome! I agree, being super thin is no better than being fat. Fit is the only way to go!
  9. OH NO! Poor Thin Thin Flat Him is gonna be stuck on an island with only country music.
  10. Awesome Rob! I know you have worked long and hard for Vegan Bodybuilding. I hope our vacation helps to push it over the top. What's next? How about Vegan Bodybuilding Magazine?

  12. Right on Richard!!! Thanks for helping me out!
  13. I can understand that, I used to be much more hardcore about such things. For better or worse, I have mellowed out a lot in my old age. Do you ever worry that you are making veganism appear opressive and unattainable to your friends? Would it be better to order a vegan meal and let your friends see how easy it would be to be vegan? Just wondering, I respect your choices regardless.
  14. Gotta be SLAYER!!! I would be set for life!
  15. I think the easiest thing to do is find out what your friend usually eats. Most people rotate just a few dishes over and over again, especially single people. There are vegan versions available for almost everything, just help him find the vegan versions. Take him to the health food store and show him around, let him see what is available.
  16. This site might help: http://vegans.frommars.org/wine/ Many wines use eggs or milk products in their "clarification" process, but most health food stores offer a selection of vegan wines. I do still order red wines when eating out, there is no way to know if animal products were used in their making. Completely giving up on eating out would take the joy out of being vegan and make it seem downright opressive!
  17. I think we should keep two events. I don't think there will be an environmental impact from this. Most of us will fly in seats that would otherwise go unoccupied. The majority of people will only attend one event anyway. Two events will allow more people to come as well. It is very expensive to get to Europe in the summer. On the other hand, summer is actually the off season for the Carribean and should be pretty affordable. The UK is nice, but I love the sun and the beach. Add in a group of fit vegans and it's paradise!
  18. Thannks K! Definitely didn't stiff leg that weight. How can you despise deadlifts? That's my favorite lift. Those things are so hard thats why! I wish I did do them in the past though because now i have to start with 20's on each side! Don't laugh Of course thats with the stiff legged version. Im not sure about the regular deadlift though, but I doubt I can do even close to that! Kollision man, you are a big dude. I bet you could easily deadlift 300+ on your first try. Just load it up and pull. WHAT THE!? STIFF LEGGED 145 KG?!?!? Thats 319 lbs!!! That is an awesome SLDL Daywalker. I may have to try those, haven't ever bothered. I'm always doing the full deadlift. Good work too recovering from your surgery and then stiff legging 145kg! That is awesome, many would have just given up.
  19. Monday - Barbel Bench Press 5x135 pounds 4x185 3x205 2x215 1x225 fx245 - I will push 110kg this week! 3x205 Squats 5x135 4x185 3x225 2x1x285
  20. Any of the above sound good to me. I'm up for a vegan vacation 2006. I just don't know how it will compare to the glamourous city of Manchester, UK in 2005 though.
  21. Thannks K! Definitely didn't stiff leg that weight. How can you despise deadlifts? That's my favorite lift.
  22. Constantly annoying eh? Thanks mate! You're just mad because I can deadlift more than you.
  23. Howdy Purpuss! Where you from?
