  3. I place next to food fight claims to be a vegan tattoo studio. I can remember their name…. You could try talking to the food fight people to see if they can give you some info (email address maybe?)
  4. I don’t really think domestication is a bad thing. Didn’t we already have a discussion about pets and everyone said having animals in their lives was a good thing? In my mind domestication does not mean any animal that lives in captivity, but rather an animal who is genetically different then its wild descendents. Meaning a dog is a domesticated animal because it is not a naturally occurring species. Wolfs however are wild, even if one was raised by people it would still be a wild animal. Cats, dogs, and all farm animals are domesticated. Most of them are not even adapted to live in the wild.
  5. Your body is designed to protect its vital organs. When exposed to cold capillaries in your skin and extremities contact, to keep a larger volume of blood at your internal organs. This also helps to slow down heat loss. The same thing happens on a smaller area when ice is applied. I am not sure that ice “thins” the blood… I have never heard that. Also aspirin dose not “thin” the blood that is a common misconception. What really happens is it stops platelets from sticking together. Side note, alcohol is a vasodilator, it opens up blood vessels. When you drink alcohol it makes you feel warm because if the increased circulation to your skin. In reality this allows for an increased loss of heat. You will become hypodermic faster if you drink.
  6. i don’t feel too bad that animals die to feed people. It is utterly unnecessary so I don’t see any reason to eat them my self, but sooner or later they will die of something. We all will. And I don’t really think its any different if a fish dies because it is eaten by a bear or by a person. The only exception being that people have the mental capacity to find other food sources. What I do hate, however, is that fact that animals bred for consumption send their entire lives in misery. That is inexcusable! If I had to choose between eating a cow or a deer, I would pick the deer hands down. Of course I would be sad that an animal had to die so that I could live, but it would ease my mind (somewhat) knowing that it was free and had a happy life. The things that farm animals have to live through would be considered abuse if it were done to a cat or a dog.
  7. Dang, I know I learned this in school… I just wish I could remember the exact reason. Swelling is not telling your body to heal the area. The added fluid causes excess pain. Putting ice on an injury causes the blood vessels to constrict. I think the reason it is beneficial is because the fluids stay at the injured area longer.
  8. Hey, good to see you got to a computer. I don’t think ice has anything to do with the actual recovery. I think it just helps to take away the discomfort. I have heard ice for the first 48 hours, to reduce swelling. Then apply heat. To increase blood flow to the area and speed up tissue repair.
  9. I don’t understand how people who are around animals can lack empathy toward other animals. I’m not talking about the people working on the farms because some people will do anything for money. Do you think all of the Nazis were heartless monsters who loved their jobs? I doubt it… they were just doing what they were told. (Side note, if you don’t mind subtitles watch the movie The Experiment). I can not even begin to fathom how a person with pets can still justify the notion that animals have no souls or are below us in any way. That blows my mind!
  10. sweet, I'm ganna go to scooters very very soon. Aaron you are my new best friend!
  11. I like that you said “potential vegetarian”… I feel like I have always been vegan but I just didn’t know it till three years ago.
  12. I get the most crap about being vegan from my aunt, a very devout Christian. She constantly makes comments about how gross she thinks soy is, how she could never give up meat because she “likes the taste of food too much” and other comments about me being weird. Her defense is that god made animals for people to eat. The funny thing is I remember, when I was about 10, her and my uncle got in to an argument about littering. He said it was ok because god had made the earth for people to use. She said he was wrong and that people were meant to look after the earth. I don’t understand how someone could think we are here to take care of the earth, but that we can do what ever we want to animals…
  13. Thanks. I wouldn’t have been up for it yesterday anyway. I was running on three hours of sleep. I love the biscuits and gravy at the paradox, but the seats suck.
  14. I think its funny how so many other people say bad things about fur and people who wear fur early in that forum. Livingphotograhs says “how completely ing.” Rantingsteve says “Fur is ing. As ing as fur is, what makes this even more ing is that the fur "coats" pictured in the links are a status symbol and not any practical protection against the elements. This goes beyond the evils of killing animals for food. I put these people in the same category as those who hunt for sport. Fuckers” Mr. Spock calls them “assholes”. It seemed everyone was on the same page until sherbs says his/her mom wears fur. That seems like a good point. How dare you say bad things about Sherbs’s mom. I’m sure she is the most kindhearted animal butcher around. Now don’t get mad… I’m not trying to pick on her and I know SHE didn’t do it to be mean. Who could even stop to think about all the little critters being drowned to death when you’re so busy being stylish? I mean really.
  15. Well what the hell? I live in Oregon and I don’t have any vegan friends. The closest thing I have is the food fight people. Their cool, but they don’t even know my name… they call me “Kobos”.
