Hello everyone. I'm new to the Forum. My name is Patrick and am currently living in Europe. Maybe someone could help me out with something: After training what type of protein drink do you weight lifters take? I normally took isolated, cold filtered Whey protein, but am curious if there is a good vegetarian substitute that one could possibly order from the United States. The Protein supplements in Germany are not very good, and are riddled with saccharin and aspartame. Any help would be nice. Thanks. Take Care--Patrick

Hey everybody, My name is Brent Smith. Ive been vegan for a mere 2 months. But for me there is no turning back ever. I train in a style of martial arts called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It really keeps me active. I just recently started lifting weights so i can try and put on some more muscle. I'm 5'10 and I only weigh 146 lbs. Im tired of being the skronny guy. But i wont be for long . I just recently found this site and i thought it was really cool cause the main image people think of when they think of a vegan is a malnorished skin and bones type of person. Its great to see all these athletes showing how things really are for us. Vegans rock!! Thats all i have to say about…

Ok, well I signed up this morning, and compassionategirl was quick to notice that I didn't say hi... I've been hanging out at bodybuilding.com for awhile now, but being vegetarian, I didn't *quite* fit in. Although after reading a little more of these forums while waiting for my authetication to get emailed...it doesn't look like I exactly fit in here either. I'm kinda stuck in the middle somewhere. I am *gasp* lacto-ovo vegetarian. Have been for more than a decade. It wasn't brought about for ethical reasons. Just eventually, I lost the mental distinction between "chicken" and "chicken!". (Very abrubtly while eating a drumstick and blood came gushing out!) …

I was on the veggie team for a long time (5 years), got traded for a year, but jumped back on after watching a PETA video on Jewish vegetarianism. I had also decided to drastically decrease my workouts (aka become a lazy bastard), so it's going to take some time to put all the pieces back together. I'm very happy to see that y'all are out there in the world, lifting stuff and running around and eating tofu. It's very inspiring.

Hey everybody, I just joined the this board today and i thought i'd be nice to introduce myself My name is Sacco, i'm a 22 yr old guy fom Holland. I like music (hardcore, metalcore, metal and sometimes hiphop),philosophy, art, BMX and lots of other stuff. I joined this board because I feel that you don't need animal products to be healthy and that being a vegan does not mean you're a wimp, and thought it'd be nice to meet people who feel the same way. That's about enough for now i hope.... Sacco

Hello folks. I am Courtney, a new member to the boards! I got invited by Robert, who I ran into on another vegan message board. Only 4 days ago I made the decision to change my lifestyle and go vegan. I am an assistant manager at a Mcdonald's here in Fargo and I was curious about a book I had heard about called "Fast Food Nation." So I bought the book to read it. Well what I read not only turned me off of fast food, but off from meat products in general. Even the one time I tried to eat meat after reading it, I vomited. I just can't do it anymore! So, I decided to become vegan. Not only will being vegan make the nevironment a better place for both humans and animals al…

Hey all, I hope that all of you compassionate and healthy people are doing great! About me, I have been lifting weights for years and am toned only 4.6% body fat. Decided to go vegetarian 6 years ago after my fathers near death heart attack and open heart surgery due to cholesteral - animals defense. He even appeared to be in great shape and got alot of exercise as a mailman. Then I found out that heart disease was the leading killer, in one of the most out of shape countries in the world and consumers of the most animal products the USA! We have a negative influence on animals around world with franchising fast-foods. Anyways, so at first I just cut back and then af…

Hello. I am interested in increasing my strength. I have done weight training before and have recently-ish started again. I haven't done any weight training for a couple of weeks because my right shoulder and arm are painful. I will give it a go at the weekend if my arm is all right. It is a bit better than it was a few days ago. I am quite experienced in the old fitness lark but I don't know everything. I hope that I can find some answers here. I'm not sure what the questions are, though, so it might be difficult getting answers. I have been censored and ridiculed on various forums because of my strange sense of humuor. I admit that I sometimes get carried…

My friends call me Rae. I've been a vegetarian since December of 2003, and a vegan since September of 2004. I went veg at the advice of my surgeon (I was convalescing from a nasty back injury, and had gained weight due to my inability to walk and my horrible diet). It worked for a while, but once my diet became heavy with seafood, I gained more weight. Long story short, I got fed up and went vegan. The change in my diet allowed me to drop a large amount of weight. Once I was able to be more active, I ended up losing a total of 50 lbs. I still have a long way to go. I'm convinced that going vegan also aided in my recovery. While I still suffer from back pain no…

Hello Everyone, My name is Will, I am 30 years old, and I live in Canada. I have been a raw food vegan for 4 years, and I love this lifestyle. I chose the nick name "Raw Ambition" because it was the title of an article done of me and my lifestyle in the city newspaper, July of 2003. I live in a city of very few vegans, none of which I know like to train, so it is very nice to find somewhere where I can discuss my two favorite activities (Raw and Fitness)

I have checked out the page before on multiple occasions and find people to be very insightful and intelligent. I have been a vegan for a little over a year, have had a few slips(not eating meat or eggs or anything, but had cheese a few times). Before that I began a weight loss bodybuilding plan but after going vegan the weight loss went into high gear and I lost 70 lbs in about 4 months. I am in the best shape of my life(not because I'm the most cut) because I eat the best ever, and even though I was athletic and worked out alot in my late teens, I never did as much cardio as I do now. I currently weigh about 195, am 6"2. I have about 10-15lbs of extra fat I'd lik…

Hi, I have talked to a few of you already on myspace. I"m a raw vegan. I'd love to get more into body building. I'd consider being a fitness model if I found the secret to getting my body to a low enough body fat percentage. I'm 5'11 around 143. I'm just getting into running and would love to find myself doing an adventure race some time this year. Running, biking, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, and anything else under the sun someone can teach me. ) I hope you're all doing fantastic. I hope we get a chance to talk more. Take care Brookie- Go veggie power! )

So, I just joined because I want to (NEED to) get in shape. I went vegan for ethical reasons about 3 years ago. I'm kind of a junk food vegan with a mean sweet tooth. I have actually gained 25 lbs since going vegan! I do love to exercise, especially weight training but I have a young son, which makes it hard to get to the gym. But today I joined the Y and they offer childcare so no more excuses! And can I say I am extremely impressed with the emoticon selection!

Hi. I just found this site and joined up. First, a little history. I am a female, age 53. I have been lifting for about 12 years. I just do it for health and because I love it. I would like to see more definition though. I was a vegan some 6 years ago and then gave it up out of boredom with the food. I should have stuck with it!! I am slowly transitioning back to it. I have already cut out all meat and eggs but still do a little dairy but precious little. I am slowly cutting out the bad stuff. Even when I was eating meat and dairy, I would always try to eat organic and I never have been a fast food freak nor am I big on processed foods. I have a terrible time with si…
