  1. I totally agree, except perhaps many newbies to MMA don't know about Rampage? Anyway, the sport is growing. Let's hope in the right direction this time.
  2. Hey Cubby, it seems to be working for you . . . I saw the pic of your legs, Very Impressive!!!
  3. Exactly. Same thing with me - best gains ever were on 1-6 rep sets, always going heavy. The bodybuilding magazines have always made it sound like somehow going under 8-10 reps was "only for strength", but everyone is different, and some people can grow their best keeping the reps low, so long as they give each set everything they've got! Perhaps the low rep thing worked for me because I didn't read the BB mag articles, and didn't know that it didn't work?
  4. Everyone is different . . . I gained 30 lbs of muscle lifting heavier weights at low reps . . . 3-6 rep range. There is no absolute formula, you have to find what works for you.
  5. Well I worked my legs today . . . I did a lot of bench press . . . then I worked my calves, I did some bench press . . . then I decided to do some abs, so I did bench press . . . finally I worked my back, I did some curls. I'm building a very balanced body.
  6. If GSP went down to BJ's weight division . . . now that would be very interesting to watch.
  7. I think that Kimbo is already a dangerous fighter . . . on his feet. I do respect him for turning his life around and obviously Bas thinks he has potential. I just question the choice of Kimbo as the main event for network's first venture into prime time MMA . . . I don't think that he represents MMA well right now. And hopefully he will really work on his ground game!
  8. I think that it would be a really good/interesting fight that GSP would win. A fight that would be good for the image of MMA fighters as elite athletes, unlike Kimbo huffing and puffing and flailing.
  9. Yep, WEC was like college post graduate compared to Elite in Kindergarden . . . as for cheerleaders vrs dancers, I never say no to dancers . . . even married one (or two).
  10. A really great card with some great fights.
  11. Agreed that the disco cheerleaders, disco balls and pyro FX cheapened the whole effect and created a lurid carnival atmosphere. Did nothing for the image of MMA.
  12. Yep, Kimbo ran out of gas, and has no ground game other than brute strength. Still very raw. The win was an absolute gift.
  13. The women took the night, IMO, on Elite. Great fight. Kimbo really gassed and proved to be very vulnerable on the ground. But, I will admit, he has progressed from his Utube days. His victory was a real gift, as I think that it was stopped way too soon. I really like Faber and Pulver, but think that Faber may be too strong for Pulver.
  14. I see no arrogance in sound scientific knowledge and specific experience . . . knowing what you are talking about isn't arrogance.
  15. Thanks, DV, much appreciated. I, also, am glad that you post here!
  16. DV, what do you think of b-12 injections? I started doing them and definately feel a big difference. Do you think that patches would be equally as effective? At 54, I don't seem to be absorbing or digesting as well as I used to. Thanks!
  17. Excellent! Well said . . . it seems that every week there are new "scientific Facts" by "experts" telling me that nearly everything I eat, drink, or do is completely wrong. I have countless people quoting articles by experts telling me I am eating wrong, working out wrong, or living wrong. Thanks for your voice of reason . . . I usually say, "sorry, I didn't read that article, so I didn't know that what has worked for me for years doesn't work ". So if you read all of those articles, will distilled water start to poison you? Hmmmmm
  18. Do you know how old he is? Quite inspirational!
  19. I just bought some powdered water, but I don't know what to add.
  20. Wow, gyms can get expensive! I started Tang Soo Do-Mu Duk Kwon, Aikido, and Jui Jitsu at age 9 . . . . mostly because of my name. My wife grew up doing Chinese martial arts, weapons and dance. Good stuff, and JKD is very cool. Hope your knee stays healthy and you keep training!
