  1. Where are from in Houston, Michelle? I was born in Houston. I dont really remember the area too well, but I do know I was near Sugarland.
  2. From the Buddhist perspective..also maybe the Aruyvedic approach...and anyone who cares about their body.. the first activities and meal(s) in the morning should be very light..hence breakfast..you are breaking a "fast". Its reccommended that the only things you participate in are meditation, yoga, streching, etc... and a light nutritious meal. I personally feel that the most anyone should workout in the morning, is a brisk walk. Whoever told you that cardio in the morning is twice as effective, may be right, but isnt weighing all the factors like what many other people here have stated. Ive been very successful working out in the afternoon, and it seems like your friend is making you feel guilty. My success lies in moderation, who cares if you can speed things up...if you stick to this for the rest of your life you will be in amazing shape, while your friend will probably eventually quit. Tortoise>Hare I reccommend you read Spiritual Nutrition by Cousens.
  3. A trick for people that shop at stores like WHOLE FOODS and are poor.. Which is an oxymoron in the first place..but.. Find produce and bulk that is sold both organic and unorganic.. AND... Mix them together in the same bag with the unorganic most visable.. Or when you get to the register and they ask you... Just reply its not organic or regular. Normally, I would never support anything like this, but I am adament that we all be as organic as possible and save as much as possible in the process
  4. Ive been leaning towards Indie movies . Why? BEEEEECAUSE.... They tend to have more meaningful messages/inspirational and better dialogue, and I feel good NOT supporting the major studios that come out with these bigpicturebrainwashingoverratedmassesofcrap. ++Plus, I can quote all the cool lines in everyday speach and totally take credit for them, since nobody I know watches INDIES.
  5. I never took the time to figure out what Vegan actually stood for. I mean I know no meat or animal products, but I cant believe I had no idea what the word VEGAN came from. My understanding from this article is that vegan is the beginning and end of VEGatariAN, and makes sense of everything in between. That puts things in a much clearer perspective for me. Sorry if I sound like a complete moron but ima baby vegan!
  6. Do any runners here ever get painful rashes on their inner thighs where the two thighs rub? I didnt have any for many years, now that I am running longer distances(3-10miles x 4-5 days a week) they have re-appeared. Recently, they have gotten to the point where I HAVE to completely stop. If I take a few days off they dissapear and its all good until the cycle starts all over again, I wonder if I am running too much? Bad posture? Fat thighs? Poorly crafted boxers ? etc... Does anybody have a remedy for these rashes? Any suggestions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! For those of you who dont know what I am talking about...its something like this...
  7. If I'm not adopted... Then I am 100% Russian- Jew... I do not connect to either race or religion, and look nothing like anybody in my family.
  8. I like most of what everyone else already said..does David Bowie and Queen count as "80's rock"?
  9. Gettiing high of meditating. Any time i Chant or Meditate for over 45 minutes I get so SOO happy. You dont even want to know the things I've done.
  10. << Maximum Level I almost cant eat or shop at any restaurant or store that serves meat or sells fur regardless of the vegan selection. Its almost impossible to do that in the middle of nowhere, but I try!
  11. A big reason why Micheal Vick went to jail was because PETA was on the NFL's case day and night until there was a resolution. Maybe, what we need is that kind of effort to end the war. Ofcourse there will always be wars, as long as we kill animals and promote competition.
  12. My car could definetely make it back and forth, im just worried about putting too much stress on it... and thats 75 gallons of the more expensive gas, otherwise it would really put alot of stress on it. I still rather fly...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm The more I think about it, the less likely it sounds of happening for me. Thats almost like 3 weeks of time I would have to take off - and that would not be able to work.
  13. My car could, it has almost 40 miles/gal, but I'd have to think about it...
  14. Don't be stingy Ed You'd already get to hang out with me in an enclosed space for 5 days or so...isn't that enough??? If I can go, I could possibly drive??...but I rather fly
  15. I'm so down! I hope I dont have any conflicts!
  16. I believe most tempeh has vegetables in them too
  17. I find I have my best workouts when I dont listen to music. When concentrating on the breathe, in and out...or each contraction of every muscle, I feel the "burn" much more the next day. I know theres some days where you just dont feel like working out and a good pump up song helps, but maybe we shouldnt be going to the gym if we really dread it that much. There are other FUN /Natural and productive ways of getting a good workout. Overall, I feel like I pay more attention and have better workouts when I dont have something blaring in my ears. You also cant strike up many conversations with headphones on. The only time I do well with music is when im doing cardio for long periods of time. I do tend to workout LONGER listening to music, but I waste so much mental energy getting "into" the music. I like to have no thoughts running through my mind when I workout, just focus on the goals. So when I do listen to music, I like things w/o many lyrics, becase I tend to analyze the words without realizing it. Also another requirement, it must be motivating, POSITIVE music, no heavy metal or ganster rap, but thats just my take. I know I didnt give any song reccomendations, but I always customize a new playlist based on how I'm feeling that day.
  18. Thats great! Maybe I should start watching more Monty Python. I've never really been into it so much.
