  1. Me too Except Visa, not AmEx Paying off half of it this month though if everything goes as planned, wheee!!!!!! And the other half in March. And then........yeah, I'll still be nowhere near debt free, but at least I won't be spending my every last dime on interest anymore.
  2. Hey, I want to use this too! Can I look sometime? -Robbie 2 Hottie No. No, absolutely not Robert. It's strictly reserved myself, and now Topher. .... It's sitting on the counter next to the canisters. Of course you can use it silly. As far as food scales go, mine is really quite fabulous. I definitely recommend it for anyone trying to keep track of nutrients of unlabeled foods. It was a Christmas gift from my parents last year, yay for Mom and Dad
  3. Working for a bank was such a learning experience for me, and I credit it with saving me a lot of pain in the ass experiences since I dealt with them vicariously through my customers... One thing I definitely learned, even if you think credit and bills and whatnot are a bunch of BS, do things their way anyway! The smallest little things will come back to screw you over, and even if you really never need credit in your whoooooole life, why waste money on late fees and interest charges and all sorts of other such things? One of my 'favorite' policies of credit companies - if you miss a payment or go over the limit on ANY credit line or even a utility payment (yeah, they even watch your electricity bill), credit companies can immediately raise your interest on every line of credit. It's crazy. Read the fine print on everything! I refuse to open a credit line with anyone that uses that policy because it's so absurd...unfortunately it's becoming more common so pretty soon I'm sure they'll all do that.
  4. You refused to try avocado in the form of guacamole, remember Toph? I'm in agreement with Aaron, avocados on sandwiches and in salads are quite delicious. Philly and I had one each in our super-salads.
  5. I don't know why I'm writing this on the forum when you're in the living room right now but, use my food scale for calories. Look up banana in the fruit section, put the banana on the scale, punch in the code, and it will tell you how many calories are in it. It's more accurate than just "a large banana has 120 cal" or whatever. Pretty much everything you'd eat is in the little book. All veggies, fruits, etc....pretty helpful. Tells you carbs, fat, protien, fiber, etc too.
  6. That picture of Topher weirds me out. It's so HOT....but he's my ROOMMATE which is soooo.....NOT hot....in fact he's asleep on the couch this very minute......weeeeeiiiiird. But awesome articles and stuff!!!! Hooray for Topher and Alex!
  7. The form of b-12 humans need is actually a bacteria, cyanocobalamin. In whole foods it is primarily found in animal sources (I believe nutritional yeast is an exception? Is that cyanocobalamin or an analogue?) Anyway - It can be supplemented from non-animal sources. I don't know if that particular drink is vegan, but it doesn't have to NOT be vegan just because of the b12. If that helps
  8. I believe it is plant derived, and a sugar alcohol.....and that there ends my familiarity with it (if that much is even correct)
  9. Wow! Nice! Nice t-shirts too My cat Queso thinks you're hot .....she hopped up in my lap the second you came on screen and sat watching diligently through the whole clip.....then mewed and jumped back down when it was over!
  10. I was referring to the fact that the majority of men do not carry handbags actually, and that the majority of women do.
  11. My point though, is perspective. Spending money on handbags, watches, jewelry, etc seems frivolous and pointless to you, but I quite enjoy it. They may not be intellectually stimulating, but neither are 'shitty action films'. I'm paying many thousands a year to be intellectually stimulated by the university, so I don't feel I'm depriving myself in that department by spending the rest of my money elsewhere So, while you perceive my purchases, or anyone else's of this nature, to be silly, unnecessary, what have you - I still feel the same way about having an expensive entertainment/media set up. I agree with you on the musical instruments, those are the sort of thing in which unparalleled quality is a necessity. But being better able to see the movie you rented? Or, as you admit, your vice being video games? Meh. Pointless to me. I'd rather read a book. But, it doesn't bother me in the least if you spend your money, regardless of the amount, on such things; I just personally choose not to. I'll stick to my girly things Heh - and what's funny is, though I have a watch, I don't even wear it. I wear a bracelet from Tiffany's and use my cell phone for the time.
  12. Sounds like ChexSystems to me (though probably something different in Europe) I always loved explaining Chex to people when I worked at the bank. I would inform them quite matter-of-factly the chain of events that takes place when we charge off an account, and they would get in my face and tell me to stop threatening them with my BS - then 63 days later when they realize they have no banking priveleges anywhere in the US they call back begging for another chance. Good times.
  13. Question. You love movies and music, and if you have possessions that demonstrate that. I love jewelry and handbags and shoes, and I have possessions that demonstrate that. Are these things really different? I am ambiguous towards tv and rarely watch it, and generally consider anything more than free to be absurd for a tv because I think it's an unncessary expense. Or a play station - I'm not into video games and I think play stations a silly purchase. Those things will just need to be replaced as new technology comes out every year. Few hundred dollars for a new purse though, especially one from which I'll get years of use? Chump change. Of course I love a good deal, and I'll snag a second hand purse or discounted one any day as long as the quality is still good - but I have no qualms about dropping cash on a new one either. Seems to me this is but different sides of the same coin?
  14. Ha, if you can find a car that runs for $500, that is of itself commendable. I guarantee you though, the watch would run longer
  15. I don't get why everyone's getting hung up on the $500 dollar mark. That's how much I spent because it was a gift and I will always give the absolute most I can when buying a gift, but as watches go that is not particularly expensive. It's nice, it's functional, it should last a lifetime, but it's no Rolex. Hell, it's not even a Tag. $500 may be a fair chunk of change for a lot of things, but it's merely moderate for a watch.
  16. Indeed. Curious though, how you're the one judging me by a single purchase and yet I'm the asshole.
  17. Congrats Ash!!! I have one more final in and hour and a half, and this term from hell is O-V-E-R. Hehe - 3 yrs for a 2 yr degree isn't bad, I'll be lucky to have my 4yr degree in 5! Could be longer! Welcome to the club Michelle
  18. I apologize for being the 'wrong kind of person', or maybe just an asshole. Believe it or not, it IS possible to get a useful watch at 500$, that is indeed solar powered, and should not ever have to be replaced. I would know because I purchased it. Oh, and I do donate to charity. I've also put in many, many volunteer hours. I no longer make the kind of money I used to, and I work my ass off for every penny. When I manage to save some up, I would happily spend another $500, for myself this time, though probably on a bag I've been eyeing. I already have a watch - for which I payed a mere $150. Maybe that makes me less of an asshole?
  19. In my experience that's not true. Some expensive watches are just expensive pieces of crap with a label on them, others are of significantly better craftsmanship and quality, and you can often tell just by looking at them even if you can't see the maker. Comparing the watch I bought vs. the one he had previously, the difference in quality was clear. It also is guaranteed for life; he can take it to any jewelry store if there's ever a problem and it will be fixed no questions asked. Undeniably, it's a status symbol. It doesn't tell you anything about the quality of a person. Nonetheless, I notice, and among the general public, I'm not alone in that. Men generally wear little jewelry, so watches stand out.
  20. Actually, on a man, his watch is one of the first material things I notice. (as in, aside from physical attributes) When my ex graduated college, I bought him a $500 watch, the best I could afford at the time. It's not much by watch standards, but certainly nice enough to be respectable.
  21. The countdown is on Chesty! Just have to get through this week, and we're home free......good luck to you! I know for myself, I have the next 48 hours blocked out with no allowances for sleep, just studyin, test, studying, test, and way too much time at work. It's gonna be tough, but it's going to feel SOOOOOOO good when it's over!!!
  22. Did you catch the news about George Best, or are you referring to someone else? It's true largely across the board - and yes, it upsets me too.
  23. This is MY point - for crissakes, they LIVE with one!!!
