  1. Totally single. Never dated a vegetarian, never dated a vegan, Can't even imagine how awesome it would be Unless I'm not single which is also possible...... Yeah. Forget love lives. Too complicated for this girl to understand.
  2. SO when a UK guy says, "Have a great night, yeah." they are saying "have a great night, yes." Beats me, and I'm by no means British, but I use 'yeah' in place of 'ok' quite frequently. So if nothing else, it's a Megan thing
  3. Well put Richard! I wish I were this eloquent!
  4. Ha, now that's the truth. I've never heard of Aubrey Organics.....tell me more!
  5. You mean the vegan parmesan cheese made by Soymage? That stuff is good no, i meant since you said the yeast tastes like parm cheese -- which I loved. had i known that the nutritional yeast added a "cheesiness" to recipes, i would have bought some a long time ago. Topher and I use nutritional yeast to make a pretty decent vegan 'mac and cheese'. Super cheap, easy, and delicious Nutritional yeast is really cheap, we buy it in bulk and it barely costs anything.
  6. Oh, and today I've had fusilli w/ olive oil and salt (I didn't have anything to make a real sauce with ) and some mandarin orange slices, and now I'm having pinto beans in chipotle sauce. Very boring food day today, no time to cook anything interesting at all! I'm gearing up for my big Thanksgiving cooking spree though, I"m pretty psyched
  7. Mmmmmmm.....guac. Me too Crispy Q. Love guacamole and avocado salsa! Robert just bought a jumbo quantity of guac this week and has been kind enough to share some...MMMM, I LOVE it!
  8. Sorry, I thought it was implied - that's why I said vegans plural What part of town are you in? I think it'd be awesome if we all got together for lunch or something sometime, especially if it were a day Rob + Topher could come up to. Portland is so much better for vegan food than Corvallis!
  9. yes scambled tofu is a Godsend to those of us who miss scrambled eggs (which I know you dont ). Basically I take a lil olive oil and saute some green onions and mushrooms. Then I take silken tofu and crumble it into the frying pan. Then I put a LIL bit of tumeric so the tofu takes on a slightly yellow colour. First time users of tumeric: just a DASH Of this stuff is enough -- more than that and it becomes bitter tasting -- yuck. Anyway, back to the recipe. SO just mix it all up in the frying pan, and salt and pepper to taste. End results looks like scrambled eggs. It doesnt really taste like eggs -- but it is still really good. vamp, you should try this recipe. You will like it I am sure. peace Turmeric = yum. And cumin. Two of my favorite spices for sure! I like my tofu scrambles with spinach also. Mmm, mmm, mmm. Thanks SeaSiren, that's what I was thinking but I'd always just associated dairy with cow, so I wasn't totally sure!
  10. Isn't dairy exclusively from cows? Or would it include for instance, sheep and goat milk too? Hmm, hadn't considered this previously.... Eggs are decidely not vegan. I think eggs are gross. Always have. My parents used to get so annoyed with me when I was little because I loved dying easter eggs but then I refused to eat them. I like scrambled tofu though
  11. Topher is inept in the kitchen....I'd love to see him bake a cake! It could change my whole perception of him! Is Toronto anywhere near North Dakota?
  12. Plan B requiring a prescription still is utterly absurd. The FDA is supposed to be an apolitical administration, but here they are repeatedly ignoring the advice of their medical panel, prompting the resignation of multiple experts, just because it's a controversial issue thanks to my buddies over on the religious right. Gotta love it. I'm just glad I'm both educated enough and affluent enough (at least by family and association, if not personally at the moment ) to have the ability to pursue all possibilities when I have a medical need. I can't imagine being say, a 18yr old poor single girl in Mississippi. Ridiculous.
  13. That's what I was thinking! I've found myself saying 'mate' a lot lately....hehe, and the other day I told someone to sort it out! (followed by mate) Thanks for that one Richard!
  14. My girl and I do the same thing, last year for thanksgiving week we went to Jamaica, and this year we are going to Playa del Carmen, Mexico (just booked the trip last night, f$#k yeah!). There are a couple of vegetarians in my family, but I just don't like thanksgiving as a holiday anyway. My friends and I do have vegan thanksgivings most every year, even though they are only vegetarians and some meat eaters. We make tofurkeys, mashed potatoes, stuffing and the like. My favorite drink! People tell me this is a grandpa type of drink, but hey, my grandpa used to drink them when I was a kid, so I guess they are right I am planning on cooking my own vegan food for Thanksgiving. I rarely get to see my family so even though I'm not a big fan of the holiday as a whole I'll still be going. Though, if Mexico were an option, I'd happily ditch the holiday. .... The night before my birthday I was out and about and my regular drink purchaser screwed up and ordered me a gin and tonic instead of a vodka tonic (I think he was a bit tipsy himself because it's always vodka tonic)....anyway so it was my first one, and it was not nearly as bad as I was afraid. As I said before, I think my gin aversion is finally fading (3 years later ) It's a classic, not a grandpa drink. Like an Old Fashioned!
  15. Foodfight, good to know, thanks! On the other - I don't know, but if there isn't there should be! And if there is I shall endeavor to find it, because that sounds like a fun site Just out of curiosity, what part of Portland are you in? (Not looking for an address, just wondering, SW, NW, etc.) I go up and stay at a house in SW about every other weekend. I know madcat is in Portland too....why is it that I'm up there so often and have never met you Portland vegans?? Oh, and I understood where you were going with your previous comments, no worries. The sentences might have been jumbled in your thoughts but they came out ok:) And, I think you're right. I don't think condoms are intentionally non-vegan, it doesn't seem particularly necessary for them to be. (Except the lambskin ones, ewwww. Can you imagine pulling lambskin over your.....EWWWWWW) There. This thread is sufficiently hijacked
  16. Didn't mean to miss your birthday! Hope it was awesome! Lots of vegan yumminess and good times
  17. Definitely a step in the right direction!!!! Right on!!!!
  18. Does anyone know where vegan condoms are available (here in the states or online?) I've never seen any of the brands the vegan page mentioned.
  19. Robert HAS been kind enough to share with me and they are AWESOME. I haven't had the natural but I love both the chocolate and the berry. I can't wait until they're here in the states!!!!
  20. Thanks for the intro! Always been vegan - that's awesome Kudos Welcome, and glad to have you!
  21. But what about if one's own hormonal cycles, while natural, are problematic? I've got friends who get such bad cramps and that sort of thing they can't even stand, and various other things like that. There are a multitude of small and large issues that hormonal birth control seems to fix, incidental to the whole preventing pregnancy thing
  22. Knut Best name ever. So i get two usually, and it depends on what kind of movies people are watching most frequently... and my tan probably. I get billy zane from some folks, and vin diesel (albeit on a smaller scale) from some others. But I think what I really meant was an identical, indistinguishable, twin-esque person. Hehe, based on your avatar I can totally see where they get the Billy Zane comparison
