Ok, post what you have! My only requirement is that your recipe contains actual protein powder (hence the 'protein' in the title). If there are no added sugars, then that's a cherry on top! My basic recipe isn't working out so well: 1/2 c pea protein 1 c almond milk 1 banana 1 packet sweetener 275 cals, 12% fat, 46% carbs, 42% protein So let's do this!

This is a blatant plug for vegan cookie recipes at Post Punk Kitchen (http://www.theppk.com) . . . a site I'm in no way affiliated with, by the way . . . I've been vegan for just over a year and a half and was vegetarian for about 20 years before that. As a vegetarian, I used to do a lot of baking, especially around the holidays. I often gave gifts of baked goods or brought them to potlucks, etc. Since going vegan, I've done less baking (partly because I'm unfamiliar with it and partly because I'm eating more raw/healthy/unprocessed food in my diet), but this year I have three potluck events this weekend and decided to try three new cookie recipes from Post Punk Kitchen…

I have some pumpkin pie mix here and the directions on the back call for 3/4 C evaporated milk and 2 eggs to make the filling. Anyone know what to sub? 1/2 the amount of dehydrated milk in soymilk and maybe 2 TBSP baking powder?

Hi, Can I fry tempeh in olive oil? My other option is palm oil. Does tempeh make for a good mock meat sandwich? I'm thinking of replacing the burger patty with a tempeh patty. Any other good stuff to add? Thanks.

I've been playing around with different ways to make pancakes that are wheat free due to dietary problems and decided to go with this easy one for my pancake go to recipe: 1/2 C Flour (buckwheat or quinoa) 1/2 C soy, almond or hemp milk 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 TBS ground flax seed 1 TBS oil (I use coconut mainly for the taste) Add ins: banana, sunflower seeds, coco powder, chocolate chips You might need to add some more almond, soy or hemp milk to help thin it out if its too thick Mix everything up and put it on nicely oiled hot skillet on medium heat and cook each side about 3 mins. When its done, I usually like to add peanut butter and maple syrup on top. Great as a p…

Chinese hot pot is the BEST! We eat it all winter here and warms ya to the core! we use an electric hotplate with a pot of boiling water. Everyone sits around the pot and adds the veggies/tofu they want then takes them out when they want to eat it. Usually accompanied by a small dish of peanut/sesame sauce with the option of minced garlic, chili pepper oil, sesame oil or aged salty tofu (a red cube of paste). SO, after the veggies/tofu are ready, take out and dip in the sauce and enjoy! Hot pots can last hours if your not careful! always end with a bowl of delicious broth and perhaps some hand-pulled noodles. The usual list of items: sweet potatoes frozen tofu (my favor…

Lately I have been getting so many questions about these seeds and wanted to talk to other vegans and/or professionals on their take. Which do feels is best and why? Which do you believe is higher in protein? Also how do you consume your seeds? Thanks so much!

OK, this is a delicious competition to see who can come up with the fastest, easiest, tastiest entree or dessert that takes less than 15 minutes to make. I'm as lazy--I mean professional and pressed for time--as the next person and I've got a few quickies that take care of those hunger pangs, immediatamente. I'm willing to bet this forum is a gold mine for them. Rules: 1. Must be totally vegan. Duh. 2. Can be cooked or fresh, as in you can use an ingredient that's already cooked, like bread, baked potatoes, etc. but total prep time must be under 15 minutes. 3. No prepackaged stand-ins: you can't just sprinkle a few things on Amy's Vegan Lasagna and pass it off as your…

I used to bake my own bread in college. It was amazing but now I crave something grainy, nutty, and denser--like Ezekial, etc. All the recipes I've found online don't really fit that description. Does anyone have advice on how much "stuff" I can add to the dough and when? "Stuff" like rolled oats, flax, pumpkin, sunflower, etc. Can I incorporate it without losing the rise or do I have to sprinkle everything on top just before baking? Thanks! Baby Herc

I need ways to get them in my diet. I tried eating them after soaking them but it tasted pretty bad. Does anyone know how to make lentil burgers? I saw a picture on the wiki page for vegan and it looked awesome.

Mark Rippetoe, the author of Starting Strength(which outlines the program I am following) advocates to get to the point of drinking a gallon of cow milk a day, to get extra calories and protein in! I had to abandon store bought soy milk since it has too much salt and sugar, which is unhealthy. Also it is twice as expensive compared to cow milk last I checked. But making my own strained nutmilk with my Vitamix was way too time intensive. I have started making unstrained cashew nutmilk with: 1 cup cashews, 3 cups water and 6 dates for sweetener and it tastes great without straining. This saves me alot of time and money. I have tried this with almond milk and there were b…

I'll be getting a food processor for my birthday A Vita-Mix is just way too expensive, and quite frankly even if I got it, I'd never spend that much money on a blender, even if it's not exactly myself who spends the money. Apart from that I don't believe anybody would be willing to buy me a blender for that amount of money.. So I'm looking for a good food processor or blender. I want to make my own nutmilks, smoothies, and nutbutters would be great as well. Any ideas, recommendations..? I've also been looking at one called "OmniBlend".. It seems great, any experiences with that one?
