  1. You'll still need to eat fruit and vegetables, and pulses, seeds, and other things, to ensure you get all the nutrients you need. There will be things in food that aren't even known about now. Vitamins were unknown not long ago. Until we are living in Star Trek days, we'll need more than just pills for our micronutrients. Even if we were living in Star Trek days, I would still eat proper food. The taste is very tasty. And I could never give up tea. Good luck on gaining lean weight. It is great to see that other people recognize that there are things in food that provide us benefits that we have yet to discover. People think that vitamins and minerals are the limits of micronutrients, but there are maybe hundreds, maybe thousands, maybe millions of combinations of micronutrients that provide us with benefits that we can not easily quantify. Food is always better than a pill, but a pill of micronutrients is better than nothing at all.
  2. I had some lentils with spices. Put me up to 110 grams of fiber. Now I can't sleep because all that protein has my body temp too high.
  3. Always welcome to stay at my place in Colorado. Although I am about 3 hour drive from Denver. I have been trying to get JP to come visit me here. Maybe you guys can come out together.
  4. Maybe she had herself pied for the publicity. If we had a sample of the pie, we could determine if vegans might have thrown them. A real vegan would only throw a vegan pie.
  5. I have a friend who is like a DD or E. After I went veg and started losing weight, so did she. She lost like 40 pounds, but to her dismay, her boobs didn't shrink at all. They actually look much bigger now because she is thinner. They are the butt of many jokes. Maybe I should say they are the boob of many jokes?
  6. Avocados are a huge weakness of mine. I will eat them whole and plain right out the their flesh. I found that if I mix it with mustard, they remind me of egg salad:)
  7. People only like super heroes if they are fictional. Anytime you here about someone acting like a hero in real life, most people think they are a moron or glory hound. I actually like super villains myself. Why not become a super villain that produces a virus that stops humans from reproducing:)
  8. Remember to deduct the fiber. Lentils end up being around 48% protein, 48% carbs, and 4% fat when you reduce the fiber carbs. I don't think my protein ever gets over 20%.
  9. You could make it out of vital wheat gluten. It might be a little meaty, but with enough maple syrup, you will never know the difference.
  10. I remember when I lived in South Carolina, there was a sign in the Piggly Wiggly over the meat department that said "If it isn't fresh, it's free!". Are their really people who want free rancid meat?
  11. Viva Los Canada! Or something like that.
  12. I should also mention that the layer of fat on your stomach is likely the last your body wants to get rid of. I am trying to get my BF down right now, and my little pouch is going no where. However, I have noticed that my arms and legs are getting more defined. When the fat is gone in other parts of my body, then it will take it from my tummy. If you are a woman, you might notice it on your hips as well. Some men carry their fast on their chest.
  13. I agree with Chris. Cat out the processed carbs in pastas and bread. Those are junk foods. Track your calories on FitDay.com and you will get a better idea of what you should and shouldn't be eating.
  14. Sounds like you are eating a lot of vegetables? I did this for a while and was surprised at how few calories I was taking in, but wasn't feeling hungry because I was eating a large quantity of vegetables. I would throw in some fruits and legumes to up your calories. Like Chris said, it would help to let us know what you are eating as well as your goals.
  15. The cost differential to grow organics is not very high. There may be a lower yield of around 8% which I have read is the average, but the farmers save a considerable amount of money on the pesticides and chemical fertilizers they are not buying. The increase expense over conventional at the stores is due to higher demand for a limited quantity. I remember buying a conventional watermelon last year in Chicago. I ate a few bites and threw it away because I could taste the oil. It reminded me of working on a car and getting car oil in my mouth.
  16. I think it is very unselfish and noble to put an animal in pain down when they need to be let go. Charlie is out of pain. Now you need to focus on yourself and your loss.
  17. Yes, just do the best that you can and don't try and keep up with everything. Those guys in the video can to 20 unassisted pullups up to 6 times in the videos. And they are doing 20-30 push-ups up to 12 times. I have a power power that assist me in the pullups and I still only do around 10. With the pushups, I go on my knees in the second round. All of the weight training videos have the Ab Ripper X at the end. I actually do have the video, then Ad Ripper X, then the other half. This gives my body parts more time to rest and I can come at it stronger. Also, at the end of the video, I often am too worn out to much to do the Ab Ripper, so doing it in the middle helps me get it done. Take it slow and don't get discouraged no matter how sore you become. I wouldn't focus on the whole 90 day thing. If you get into this workout, it will hopefull be something you do for the rest of your life.
  18. I buy as much organically grown food that I can. I know some foods like blueberries are loaded with pesticides, but others like apples are more resistant to absorbing the pesticides. However, those pesticides all end up in out water eventually. But no, I don't believe organic food has any more nutrition. We have a small grocer here in Colorado which carries 100% organic fruit and vegetables. There organic produce is cheaper than conventional produce at most other grocery store, especially whole foods. Plus, we have a lot of farmers markets where you can get organically grown foods even though they are not "certified".
  19. I think he is backtracking like crazy now. He wanted to try and show how open minded he was, but in reality, he just showed how gullible he was.
  20. If you haven't started yet, you might want to consider just doing half a workout for the first week or two. When I started it the first time, I went through the whole Chest & Back the first day, and was pretty sore on the second day when I did Plyo. On the third day, I couldn't move. I was so sore that I didn't want to leave bed. LOL Of course, this really made me not want to work out for quite a while.
  21. Thanks Lobsterriffic, I am on the site now. I have also been reading Brendan Braziers book "Thrive Fitness". It really has some good explanations and ideas on how to balance heart and muscle performance. I should probably find someone who run marathons to get some tips. Sometimes I feel I am a very inefficient runner. If I get tired, I find myself bouncing more which I am sure is making me even more inefficient. Maybe if I lost the 8 or so pounds I want to lose I will be better at running:)
