  1. I think this season is going to be the opposite of last season. No whiny high school crap about missing your girlfriend, no false bravado like Shamrock's incessant (and insipid) whining about Tito. Plus, from what I've seen, these guys look like they are already in excellent shape. It looks like they're all very serious about this opportunity.
  2. Well, I was 0-3. Hoping that my poor predictions last throughout the weekend, I think the Yanks will sweep the Sox. I gotta hand it to Diego. I think he lost the 1st round and that he was finding Karo increasingly difficult. Karo's judo throws were pretty awesome. But Diego's superior conditioning allowed him to stay fresher and really bring it in round 3. I scored it 29-28, Diego. Diego wasn't as cocky as usual - I mean, besides the "I'm the greatest fighter in the world" comment.
  3. I'm going with Karo over Sanchez (just because I just want cocky boy to lose). Undercard has Koschek vs. Goulet, which should be entertaining. I think Goulet will win fairly handily. Leben vs Santiago - I'll go Santiago There are other undercard fights, but I didn't feel like listing them, so if anyone else wants to, be my guest.

    new, hi

Maybe he gets honked at a lot. By honkers. So he's a honkee. ..... Anyway, welcome honkee! Ok, I'll get back to work now.
  5. Sorry that a couple came out so big. They didn't look like that in the preview.
  6. All righty - here are our pics for V.V.... Robert thanks Chef Al and Donna for having us into their home for the cooking demo (it was getting a little misty in the hiz-ouse at this point): http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/7c665bc2.jpg Donna gives a tour of the garden of vegan: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/9cd4b8b3.jpg Crystal easily blocks Daywalker's roundhouse: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/da320a8c.jpg Yogita Chiquita and her new friend at Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/IMG_1710.jpg Peter (I think?) feeds a llama: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/564eb392.jpg Ravi feeds a mule while Nettie looks on: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/fc6279f9.jpg Crystal dives into a plate of nachos at Proper Eats: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/IMG_1802.jpg Yogita Chiquita and Tod share a unique perspective during yoga morning on Mt Tabor: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/43ecb30b.jpg Vegan outreach works better with real-live examples of the animals we aim to protect: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/Portland%20Vegan%20Vacation/d1a53432.jpg finbarrio brown-bagging a vegan organic brewski outside People's Coop while loveliberate looks on. 7. I like your norco. I like the RM you linked to also, but I'd be a bit weary about hopping curbs on that set up. If I were you, I'd put slicks or semi-slicks on your norco (as suggested). That'll make a big difference. I don't think that fork locks out, but if it does, I'd lock it out for the road to put more power in your pedaling.
  8. That thread did suck. I didn't get involved, but in reading it over again, I think it was one little comment that nudged it off track and it snowballed from there. And it wasn't even what was said, but how it was said. And I don't even think it was intended to be said like it was - just a misunderstanding. Sad. Compash was a star on here, tho. Maybe she'll miss us and come back.
  9. Dave - what about the shopping cart one? I might have a couple. I know I have a good one of you, Kristy and Daywalker at Kolga. I'll post them later (I've been lazy with the pic posting - much respect for Crystal posting so many DURING V.V.)
  10. Welcome! Fellow biker here (one that loves hills ). It is hard to motivate when you don't have a goal. Do you have any group rides you could go on? I have a good group of mt bikers I ride with, and we all push each other to keep up - so that's kind of my goal - to stay with the "fast" group. Without that, I'd probably be couching it myself. Or track cycling ( ).
  11. "With special focus on number 29: http://al.godsdirectcontact.org.tw/vg-vip/query/index.php " And ahead of Darwin, Plato and Socrates no less. Very impressive!
  12. I find conspiracy theories too biased to be very believable. However, there are some troublesome inconsistencies revealed in that last vid regarding how/when W first found out about the attack. The only explanation, barring any conspiracy, is that W does not, in fact, remember exactly where he was when he found out about the WTC. How is that possible? I remember every detail of the morning and it was almost 5 years ago. W forgot after 3 months?
  13. I like this one... http://www.animalliberationfront.com/Games/Comedy/cartoons/dilbertcult.jpg
  14. That's an unfortunate display of violence, but I agree that the title "Iraq boys beaten" is misleading. The Iraqis "boys" (who I'd guess are between maybe 14 - 19) were clearly involved in an organized and violent demonstration. And some are clearly resisiting "arrest". Nevertheless, some of the strikes and kicks by the US troops were definitely excessive. If that was a riot in a US city, and those troops were US police officers who were brought to trial on excessive force charges, I'd bet on them being acquitted (assuming the prisoners lived). The narration is weird, almost like it was added after the fact as some perverted masochistic joke.
  15. gg allin lol. there's a thread. I dunno - I think maybe the guy just had a little leakage or maybe he was letting go of a little gas and it came out a bit more 'robust' than he expected. I gotta think that he would have stopped had he known it happened and it looked like that.
  16. Oh man, we are laughing out loud. Richard, you are a genius.
  17. Well we're back home after another flying marathon across the US (despite the stormy weather and terrorist threats, last night's 6 hr delay in Chicago was due to a "bird mishap" - on Vegan Vacation nonetheless ). I have to echo everyone else's sentiments on how great it was to be a part of this past week. Portland was definitely the BOMB when it came to living la vida vegan. My thanks, of course, to Robert for putting this all together. Thanks also to Loveliberate and Richard, and everyone else who had a part in making it so fun and educational. We have taken back with us a lot of fond memories (we also plotted to take back LL's kids, but I think they were on to us ). I think this trip was life-changing for us - just to visit a community where people think, and eat, like we do - it was very eye-opening. Mostly, though, I just wanted to say how great it was to be all part of a big family for the week. Such a GREAT bunch of people, each so unique and interesting in their own ways. It was great getting to know you and getting to know the great city of Portland! I'll post my pics as soon as I can.
  18. (Sorry if this ends up a double post) I have tons of pics, which I'll try to post tonight. Then you'll be able to see Daywalker's novel method of feeding rescued farm animals.
  19. Great to meet you too. Portland rocks - and we haven't even gotten the full 'vegan hotspot' tour yet, but we're looking forward to it! That, and the soft serve (if there's any left ).
  20. Jealous Non-vegan vacation pics: We took non-vegan vacation pictures in honor of our being "stuck" on Cape Cod one extra day. It was about 95'F today (about 35'C), so we hit the beach, of course, and now are back and Kristy's making vegan mac and cheese. Kristy holding the nutritional yeast that goes into the recipe: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/kristyyeast.jpg And me holding a different kind of yeast (Harpoon Summer Ale): http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/finbarrio/finnyeast.jpg
  21. I have way less experience than you guys, and I mt bike more than I road ride, but 2 things I noticed: 1. Matt's advice about what to eat AFTER a ride has had immediate positive results for me. 2. If you're asking how to make your tuesday PM rides less brutal - Have you tried skipping your tuesday AM spin? I wonder if you're overdoing it on that day. Just some thoughts.
