  1. Hey man, do what feels right to you, but just remember, when you were eating a balanced cooked food diet you looked big and muscular and when you were eating fruitarian you looked small and like nothing, so I think it's a no brainer.
  2. I've moderated other boards - The thing is to delete all OFF TOPIC stuff or SEPARATE, SPLIT & MOVE IT INTO ANOTHER THREAD. If the thread was about AGAVE all tangential discussions about insects, animals & honey should've been deleted and the topic left open for Agave discussions (so that all AGAVE information was collected in ONE discussion thread). You did not have to END the argument with a couple of posts. As a moderator, you need to be unbiased and work towards keeping the DISCUSSION on topic. You needed to delete their 'OFF TOPIC' posts and let the AGAVE thread live on. By closing it you have made waste the efforts of people who were ON TOPIC and the ones who went OFF TOPIC win by causing disturbance. Anyways, these are fundamentals of managing discussion boards. I see that non of the moderators here really doing that. Too many threads become personal battlegrounds for people to throw their VIEWPOINTS in despite being off-topic from the original discussion - Thereby making it counter productive to the ORIGINAL agenda of the thread. What if all the vegan Madhava consumers on this board tomorrow found out that they have been consuming 'honey' as a part of Agave Nectar? Keeping a discussion board CLEAN & discussions ON TOPIC is what moderators need to do. Discourage people from making every discussion a fight about their borderline Vegan-ism. Do you drive a car? Well your tyres use animal products... Are you vegan? Do you have a house? All the paint in the house contains animal extracts.. are you vegan? I know that it is not as trivial as Insects & Animals, but.... > All such ARGUMENTS need to go into their separate threads. You basically just hijacked your own topic! Maybe YOU should have opened up another thread about how you dislike people hijacking other threads???
  3. Hey, I know you! Nice to see you here!
  4. I think you're a bit confused here mate. Humans are animals too! Maybe you meant greens are more suited toward non-human animals than toward human animals? I believe this thread was originally about the seemingly impressive size Gorilla was able to put on by eating a balanced vegan diet and training hard. Most of us gave him praise and were impressed by his results, that is until he decided to go over to the fruity side, as Jono put it, and denounce the gains that a balanced vegan diet gave him and the praise that came along with it. But hey, do what ya like.
  5. Hey Robert not to get off topic but do you have any of those blue VBB A-shirts in stock? BTW, the grimace during the bicep curls is classic
  6. When I first started lifting weights I got a routine from bodybuilding.com. I then looked at their exercise guide to get an idea of form. I did it at my college gym according to what I had read and did pretty good in the beginning. My form was shitty on things like the squat for awhile, but as time went on I got pointers from some of the other BB'ers at the gym and now my form is great on most exercises and decent on some, which could still use a little work. If you have the motivation, I don't think the trainer is worth it at all. It's better to train at a gym that has serious BB'ers who are regulars, who over time you schmooze with if BBing is your thing. They'll help you out for free and probably better than a personal trainer.
  7. I also think that if people are drinking beers the non-drinkers should be drinking protein shakes so no one feels out of place.
  8. I can't remember if I voiced my opinion before, but it's actually marginally relevant now, since I'll be at VV.... I don't drink, but I don't mind too much if people keep it light and social and under control.
  9. What have you heard about the negative effects of blacklight tatoos? My vegetarian friend has a bunch of these (like 3 or 4) because her parents wouldn't let her get a metal based tattoo until she completed college, so she thought she could hide it from them if she got a blacklight tatoo. I think it's kind of dumb, and you can still see the tat's anyway (she's fair skinned so it looks dark pink and slightly raised like a burn).
  10. Welcome! And so modest!
  11. Hey Veganmomma, I'm rooting for you to pull 315 from the floor! You seemed pretty close awhile ago. Come on, you can do it!
  12. Check this split out. I've been using it for a long time now (in one form or another) and it has consistently given me good results. The exact number of sets is variable; sometimes I only do 2 working sets of a given exercise if I'm using heavy weights/lower reps (5-6 reps to failure). Usually I do three sets, and keep the reps in the 8-9 range until failure. This is completed within 7-8 days. Sometimes I do one day on and one day off, sometimes 2 on, 1 off. It depends how I feel and what I have to do other than train. Any feedback or comments would be appreciated. 13. At first, I LOLed when I read this, because I thought it was funny. But then I got to thinking about a dish that I enjoyed before I went vegan: Penne ala Vodka. Now, I haven't come across a vegan version of this dish, so the question has not been raised about the alcohol-free-ness of this dish. I know it sounds like it's splitting hairs, but there is vodka in the sauce. And a lot of people say "most of it is cooked out", but upon investigation I discovered that depending on the cooking method a large percent of alcohol does remain in the final product. So, what do you all think about sxe and penne ala vodka? For example I would not eat a vegan rum cake but have mixed feelings about the pasta dish. Thoughts?
  14. Hey Robert, I will definately be at VV 07 this year! I'm stoked! I'm mailing you a check for $100 tomorrow. Josh
  15. Seasiren: I think the reason this thread has been up for awhile and there are only a few replies is because we are all BREATHLESS! I'll take the liberty to speak for everyone when I say that ! Seriously you look fantastic, vibrant, and healthy, and it shows!
  16. Hmmm interesting stuff. I am currently agnostic but I've been reading alot of Hare Krishna stuff lately. Alot of what I have read so far makes sense to me. I go to a local temple to eat sometimes because they have an all you can eat buffet and it is cheap (and largely vegan; of course I only eat the vegan things). I've been thinking about hypothetically becoming a devotee, or at least looking into it further. Something to think about now.
  17. When did I say I think I'm better than anyone else? When was I close-minded about other peoples views? In fact I was open-minded because I tried the opposing view, used drugs, and became a long-term dependent drug user. All I did was share my story with everyone and show how adopting the title of straight edge helped change me for the better. I'm glad you decided to step away from this thread. You have added nothing to it, and only turned a somewhat interesting and meaningful thread into a shitstorm. Peace.
  18. Every section of religious following in the world is subject to personal interpretation. I'd like to see you list things out to see what you really mean by lunatic. If you have the ability to SAY that then ELABORATE and let someone cross examine. Hehe okay, but you're going to have to do some homework. Here is an excerpt from Monkey on a Stick, Murder Madness and the Hare Krishnas, click the link and you can read many chapters online. You will find inside rape, murder, drug dealing, child abuse, arms dealing etc. etc. etc. Keep in mind that I know personally many of the characters in the book, so feel free to ask questions. After you have finished the introductory course, I'll direct you to additional learning materials. Let me just preface this with the fact that I didn't read much of your introductory course Michael, but this seems to be the extreme cases, not the norm, right? There is corruption in every major institution; this includes churches, mosques, temples, etc. I have a hard time believing, though, that child abuse, murder, rape, arms dealing, etc, is the norm, even in what some people call "cult" Hare Krishna circles.
  19. If there was anything worth responding to topic by topic I would. Not only do you have a terrible understanding of straightedge, your arguments are completely off the wall. Yeah, I didn't really understand the point of C.O.'s post. There was really nothing worth responding to.
  20. I don't think this would be good. I looked at the ingredients list, and they seem to be trying to put too much junk into one supplement. You're better off buying a tub of pea or hemp protein, a tub of pure L-glutamine powder, and a creatine of your choice, seperately. It would be much better than buying this far-reaching supplement that has a laundry list of non-vegan ingredients.
  21. Avocado on pizza, I've never tried that. It sounds delicious! They had it in an episode of TMNT from the old days, except they put peanut butter on theirs too.... That was a pretty good one though, fin. I was never a big person on cheese either though, so any place that makes vegan dough just makes a tomato pie for me. Haha, you called it a pie. I'm from NY so I call it a pie too. I've ordered in AZ and have gotten blank stares when I say that!
