  1. Yeah but if it wasn't for Gaia I wouldn't have ever listened to my body or Amanda guiding me on my diet I think I would have been in a bad spot today struggling to make sense of it all. I never was a thankful person and used to be the biggest negative nelly out there. Now I am thankful for all that I have and for those in my life
  2. My middle has become a blur of workouts, sleeping, eating and working. I can't believe it is already Feb 2012!!! It really only seems like yesterday I was starting my journey. I still have days I want to drop to my knees and cry at the progress I have made, the struggles I have gone through alone, and the struggles ahead that I don't know about.
  3. Yeah but Jen that vegan cinnamon roll sure does taste mighty good!!! Oh yeah I had one for breakfast hahaha
  4. Starting tomorrow I am going to be following a new plan will be taking the "before" pics which are actually the during but will wait till the end to post them. I want to see if I will be in shock and awe before I share with everyone else
  5. http://www.vegguide.org/region/242 here is a wonderful link for KC area veg friendly restaurants FuD is strictly vegan and Mud Pie is vegan and does gluten free as well as special orders
  6. I didn't know it closed... Sad really. Um if he is willing to drive to KC I know of 4 places off the top of my head but have only had the pleasure of trying 1... the bakery YUMMY!!! Met Gaia on here. I honestly have no support system in RL and any friends I make on here are truly needed.

The reason I became vegan... I was constantly sick and by eliminating meat from my diet I stopped getting sick. I still have my seasonal allergy problem and the occasional cold but I haven't been sick like everyone else around me. I know that we are destroying the earth and taking way from the wild life which is sad. I support small local farms more than big company. I grow my food and try to preserve it as it comes in. I am not perfect and I am not the smartest crayon in the box but I am slowly getting there

Ok I am not in favor of eating meat at all but I feel that if society is going to continue to eat meat we should get big farms to change the way they breed, raise and slaughter animals. I know there is really no humane way to kill them but letting them die slowly is wrong. I don't think in this day and age we need all the meat that our ancestors ate because we have it more readily available instead of having to hunt for and ration it out. I don't ever see myself eating meat again nor do I miss it. I love being vegan and my body is much happier now that I am. But that is my 2 cents.
  10. Girl I wish I had you as a partner! I really need to focus on finding a workout partner. But I can't seem to find anyone who wants to pair up with me....
  11. That is exactly what I was thinking . Just trying to figure out how to get some cardio in without hurting my knee. I am a ball of energy and didnt sleep well last night. Think the stationary bike would be ok? Going to start a new workout plan I found but has a super restrictive diet which will be good while I am down and can't burn as many calories as I want and will get me used to it by the time my knee feels better. I will get to at least enjoy red beans and rice with cajun seasoning IF I can find a salt free version. I will be looking for a reciep for it before I hit the store just in case....
  12. Hey karen! Its all good. There is only 1 health food store near me and it is called natures pantry in Independence. I do believe warrensburg has a veg restaurant now. I haven't had the pleasure of trying any veg restaurant due to I hate eating alone and keeping busy.
  13. Hey Jen, I feel you on the lack of support system off of here. I get a lot of flack from those around me about needing to go back to eating meat. No one understands my lifestyle choice and I hate not having anyone to talk to close in my life. Synny
  14. Full of energy but can't release it due to knee. Took it easy during boot camp and got a little work out in at least. I just need to rest my knee and let it heal. No pushing my legs for a bit Breakfast 1c dry oats cooked in water 1/4c dried cranberries 2 tbsp whole flaxseed ground up Lunch 1 1/2c sweet potato chili 1 cornbread muffin 2/3c green beans 6 asparagus spears 1/4 onion Snack 1c cooked brown rice 2 oz kimchi Supper 2 slices pizza Post workout 8 oz almond milk 1 serving protein powder
  15. No with all my yoga sessions I know to avoid anything on the knee. I always get my quads under the pad to avoid the knees. I think with my running 2 days in a row and a heavy legs day I stressed it. I have it braced, using aleve, and avoiding anything to stain it more getting ready to ice it before I have to do anymore work at work. I am totally listening to my body. Even missed yoga this morning
  16. Ok if it is hip flexor yoga can help.... I know guys aren't big into yoga but honestly it has worked wonders on this beat up CNA body
  17. I crush on the Vegan Zombie!!!
  18. Grow my own vegetables and support farmer's markets Support and promote a local vegan bakery Buy from second hand stores Utilize my local library for reading and viewing material Just to name a few.
  19. Ok so I am now allowed to slowly start introducing soy back into my life YAY!!! I have decided to remain gluten free. The GI doc really wasn't any help and well I am now out $100 oh well. Was a good day but my knee has been talking to me all day and just started hurting more and more. I bought a brace and will ice it here in a bit and then rub in some Aspercreme. Want to wait and see if it is like my left one that flares up and goes away with rest. Soooooo no yoga and boot camp is going to be highly modified and no leg workout. Riding the upright stationary bike didn't bother me so I might do that after boot camp..... will just see what my knee says to me tomorrow. Breakfast 1c dry oats cooked in water 1/4c dried cranberries 2 tbsp whole flax seed ground up splash of almond milk Snack 10 oz green monster Lunch 1 1/2c sweet potato chili 1 cornbread muffin 2/3c green beans 1/4c sliced onion 7 asparagus spears Snack 1/2c cinnamon applesauce 1/4c walnuts Supper 2 slices gluten free veggie pizza 16oz green monster Post workout 8 oz almond milk 1 serving protein powder bedtime 8oz almond milk 1 serving protein powder Upright stationary bike: random program level 3 20 mins Back/biceps Iso row: 3 sets 45 lbs 20 reps, 3 sets 55 lbs 15 reps, 2 sets 60 lbs 12 reps Iso pulldown: 3 sets 35 lbs 20 reps, 3 sets 40 lbs 15 reps Back extension: 6 sets 15 reps Cross body hammer curl: 3 sets 15 lbs 20 reps, 3 sets 15 lbs 15 reps Spider curl with ze curl bar no weight added: 3 sets 20 reps, 3 sets 15 reps Seated inner bicep curl: 3 sets 10 lbs 20 reps, 3 sets 12 lbs 15 reps I managed to forget my gloves so went lighter and easier on myself cause my hands aren't callused up and now hurt. I am doing so good I am proud of myself Ok just managed to look at my knee and WOW it is swollen... Yeah total modification day. Going to ice it and immobilize it, took 2 aleve just to help and will take it easy for a couple of day. Might focuse on upper body and utilize the machines like I did last time I had knee issues. Which I think come from trying to run. My knees must be telling me something lol
  20. I agree that is why I want to do it
  21. Well I hope to have a self sufficient farm and work hard for my food.
