  1. beforewisdom love's to start fights and is extremely delusional! When did I state not to supplement Vitamin B12? I'm not starting a fight. I'm warning someone who is scared about her health away from a source of near total misinformation. You are a teenager without an education or research experience. You frequently point to spurious sources to back up your opinions. Even when you point to legitimate bodies of authority, you don't have the education or experience to properly understand the scholarly references you point to. I don't either. That is why professional go to school, get degrees, do research and work with other professional before they give advice to people or express authoritative opinions to them.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFweMS-Mj7o Milk might as well be meat from an ethical standpoint and even a health standpoint. Yet, very little is said about milk. That is about to change with "The Milk Documentary". This documentary is complete, in the can. It is ready to be released, but has fallen short on funds to pay the required “E & O Insurance” ( in case the dairy industry or other people sue ). To get around that the producers of the documentary have turned to “Kickstarter”. If you make a donation you will get a prelease version of the documentary on DVD. If $25,000 is collected by March 25th 2011 release of the film will go ahead. If $25,000 is not collected by March 25th your donation will be returned to you. To make a pledge from any country in the world and get more information about the documentary please visit "The Milk Documentary" Kickstart page: http://tinyurl.com/gotthefactsonmilk
  3. The data was collected on animals, not people. Most results from animal testing don't apply to human beings and vice-versa. Different systems. The feeding studies done on animals have never been done to the same extent with people. You can't lock a human being in a cage and control all their inputs for a life time. Google on CRON. They have a yahoo group. Talk to them, they will tell you the same thing. They believe they are making an educated gamble.
  4. Disregard everything 2097 has had to add in this thread and take a b-12 supplement. You will be fine.
  5. Dallas, Cellar Yeti Did you two watch the video? It is a spoof of American pharmaceutical commercials that typically use the line "Ask you doctor about _____ " (something taken as "good" but has nasty consequences)...........hence the humor.
  6. When a human body isn't taking in enough food it raids the glycogen ( carbohydrates ) stored in the muscles for energy. Once that it is exhausted it starts consuming a combination of muscle and stored fat. It never does just fat. Fasting is tearing down what you are trying to build up via lifting weights.
  7. There are a lot of British and European AR people on veganfitness.net. It might be useful to tell your story there as well. Good Luck.
  8. A very funny spoof of the pharmaceutical television commercials you see these days
  9. If they don't die from a stroke or a heart attack as a result from the deficiency, no. However, it can take a long time ( months or years ) of steadily getting b-12 every day to rebuild their bodily storage. It only happens so fast. It can also take months or years to reverse the damage ( arteriosclerosis ) if the damage can be reversed ( nerve damage, storkes, heart attacks ).
  10. The optimal rate of weight loss is 1 - 2 pounds a week, in order to maximize fat loss and minimize loss of muscle. That almost fits your window. If you create a deficit ( in a healthy whole foods diet ) of 500 calories a day, you can lose a pound a week ( the first 1 - 2 weeks you will lose more, from a water loss ). You can read more about how to this here: http://beforewisdom.com/blog/wc/stick-a-fork-in-me-im-done/ Go vegan. See the link in my signature for finding reliable nutrition information from reliable sources. Be very suspicious of any nutrition information from web boards, even this one. Start ( don't jump in all at once ) eating a vegan diet of mostly whole grains, legumes(beans, soy, peanuts ) vegetables and fruit. Get a podiatrist to check your wife's feat out and then get her walking. Walking is a great way to strengthen a body that has been out of shape for a while and it can even be combined with a portion controlled diet to take weight off while being kind to a person's joints.
  11. I hate typing stuff into spread sheets, but there isn't a fast way to digitize things.
  12. That sounds like an impressive amount of work. You must be really into cooking and have many cookbooks ( I think I have about 6 ).
  13. I have so many cookbooks collecting dust on my shelf. I get excited, I buy one, make one recipe and forget about the book until a year later. Someday I would like to make every single recipe out of one cookbook. I think I may start off easy with one of the free recipe guides AR orgs give out .
  14. Yah, you seem like a vegweb.com kind of girl

  16. A well done video. I wasn't happy that the author didn't name himself or his credentials, but he listed a number of citations to back up his claims in part 2. To see the references on part 2 video click on the button that looks like upside down corporal stripes. Normally, I would not consider listing references to be enough ( i.e. does the person have the training to interpret the studies correctly? ), but the health concerns listed are ones I have seen echoed by vegan RDs and journalists across various articles. Raw foodists may just want to skip to part 2, as it lists the pitfalls of raw diets and hearing that list may give them ideas as to how avoid those problems like getting insufficient calories, tooth decay, etc. Part 1 Part 2
  17. VeganResistance; Too bad your thread got taken over. Hope you are feeling better.
  18. Cashews have poison, but computers emit radiation, but somehow I don't think 2097 is going to give up posting on web boards .
  19. I just wanted to right that I do not enjoy situations like this thread. I think thread is valid and expresses real concerns. I don't enjoy talk about banning people and I don't enjoy criticizing people. I don't see anyway around it given the potentially harmful and the persistent nature of the misinformation posted here. I don't have a magic answer that will everyone happy and not hurt anyone's feelings. I just wanted to say that.
  20. LOL, how did you operate on the digits 2,0,9, 7 to get -86 ?
  21. Dude, no offense, you are coming into the middle of a movie and making comments on things you haven't seen, don't know what you are talking about, etc.
  22. That is wrong. The USDA nutrition database, the standard for most nutrition web sites and software: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3095/2
