  2. Why do I get the feeling your cakes didn't turn out as well as Ash's?
  3. Not at all - I'd say most gun owners would only use it only when absolutely necessary.
  4. That's what I thought. The quote didn't make much sense to me.
  5. I think you'd like this book Rob - Muscle: Confessions of an Unlikely Bodbybuilder by Sam Fussell: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0349104433/qid=1151324042/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/203-2977675-5556755 . I saw it in a second hand bookshop in Sydney once. Foolishly didn't buy it there and then, as when I went back it was gone or had been moved - it was one of these shambolic second hand book stores with stuffed just piled everywhere and anywhere. Never seen it since........
  6. OK time to resurrect this thread as it is actually CG's birthday at long last. Must be the longest birthday celebration ever - that said the Queen's 80th Birthday has been goin on for some time now. Happy Birthdat Natalie. Have a great day.
  7. A physical therapist, who worked with me twice because of my recent should injury, said not to go down that far on bench press because it is putting much of the pressure on the shoulders to initially lift it back up, if bar on your chest (he said shoulder muscle are heavily burden that low and your chest is not doing as much the first inch or so, if bar starts that low.) Is he wrong? I don't know - that's what I heard too, and was surprised to read so many people advocating the bar touching the chest.
  8. So the bar is meant to touch your chest then? I've also heard that it's best not to touch the chest?
  9. One of me grabbin a last few rays at the airport on Sunday before flying home on Sunday: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Tarz77/100_0373.jpg
  10. Yes, I prefer smaller, more independant places myself too. They were some beach shacks near Tulum which looked good - a little too basic and no protection from the mosquitoes - a couple from our hotel stayed there and got eaten alive. I would love to visit other places in Mexico - as Cancun is just basically a brash, tacky American resort - but I would struggle with the food unless I learn Spanish, which is something I want to do. At the far end of the Hotel Zone, they are still building - I was amazed at the number of hotels still being constructed. I intend to read up and research Mayan culture and heritage.
  11. Vegetables neither. A lot of ( nearly all I think ) veggies are cultivated using animal manure as a fertiliser.
  12. Thanks for the tips Ronnie - I'm now home but will hopefully be able to try your tips another time. PETA - yeah it was bleedin hip-hop, urban and RnB everywhere. I never made it to Daddy O's but it looked popular. Wasn't impressed with Senor Frogs, The City was an impressive venue which I'm sure is good when it isn't virtually empty like it was when I was there. I went to Coco Bongo's on Saturday, that was OK - the trapeze artists are very good. I never get my money's worth at these free bar places as I don't drink. Hung out with a nice girl from Mexico City in there. I wanted a night out in Downtown along the main strip near 100% Natural - there looked some good bars and clubs on that road - my mate wasn't up for that though. It would of been good to play with the locals instead of a load of drunks and kids in the main zone. I ran on the track between Downtown and Hotel Zone - only so far though as it bloody miles, and it is hard work in the heat and humidity and very little sleep!! If I was feeling crazy I could of run from Downtown all the way to the night-club drag, then all the way along the main road to the end of the hotel zone!! That is a long way - Cancun is big, too big I thought!! Didn't like being reliant on buses........ I hope to go back to Mexico one day. finbarrio - I know what you mean, I got food poisoning in India in March. That laid me low for six weeks or so, and that was bad enough. 8 months!! I feel for you... Glad you have finally shifted it. Xel-Ha and Xcaret looked good, but didn't go because of the dolphins and I believe they also keep other animals. The snorkelling and other stuff did look good there though. There are a few other places around there that look good - forget exactly what they are called now - where you could do the cavern diving. Coba looked good too, but like again Chichen Itza, it was too much time spent on a bus to really justify it though. I was concerned about the amount of jungle being cleared for new hotels and attractions ( golf courses etc ), but unfortunately I can see the development going on and on.......
  13. I'll second what Kathryn wrote - what is it doing in the fridge? Give it the dog.
  14. You might be if you go back far enough, you just don't know it. Is he the Australian writer? - I remember seeing a lot of his books when I was in Australia, never got round to reading any though....
  15. Hi again PETACANABIS. Mexico is good - weather poor on Monday and Tuesday, but hot sincethen. I got a bit sunburnt yesterday. You could cook food off me... Cancun is OK - I like Downtown, and just watching how you Mexicans work, rest and play. I don't like the Hotel Zone much - too developed and tacky for me. I don´t think much of the bars and clubs here, but maybe that's because I'm not an 18yr old American on GradWeek/Summer Vacation. The beach and sea here in Cancun are nice. I like Nopales - very tasty. In some shoops they are health food snacks and biscuits called Naturale Intergrales or something like that - soy snacks or oat meal cookies in different flavours. Do you know if any of these are vegan - some are labelled only in Spanish, some in English ( I'm not sure about the margarine?). There are a few brands - like Sariah - can you help? I've been drinking Ades soya milk - there are a lot of nice flavours. There are a few other brands of soy milk I can' remember at the moment. I've ate a lot at 100% Natural. I won't make it to Chichen Itza now, didn't fancy 7hrs on a bus there and back.... I made it to Tulum on a public bus, just as it was closing. They wouldn't let me in for two minutes, couldn't believe it - 5hrs travelling and didn't really get to see it. I kicked up a fuss, so much so the staff threatened to call the police. Yucutan seems really nice - would like to explore the area and Mexico properly one day, the food would be a worry though. There seems to be a lot of health food stores around, healthy eating seems popular here, 100% Natural is always busy.
  16. Well done compassionategirl. This forum wouldn't be the same without you.
  17. That's not the same, at least not in how I've seen the word "prick" used, as our gender isn't being insulted by women as being weak or inferior... Not weak and inferior, but a prick is someone who is really irritating. Same with cock, dick, bell-end... and let's not forget that bollocks means rubbish. All pretty male-oriented derogatory words. Not forgetting knob, then there are the variants such as dickhead, knobhead....
  18. Its still being used in a derogatory way though.
  19. Prick ( English slang for the male organ - see it works both ways, men just don´t kick up much of a fuss on these things ) Prat
  20. Yeah, I don't mind paying to go the bars n disco's - I'm on holiday after all! I'll try and check out Tulum. I will try Nopal - it sounds like it has many good properties - I will let you know if I like the taste! Pulque could almost tempt me to start drinking alcohol again.
