  1. I've never donated blood and I wouldn't be allowed in my country to do so because I have lots of close relatives who have suffered epilepsia so I could have it myself. I think those are the rules. But if somewhere else I would be allowed to do it I would. I have my blood tested at least once a year (last year was like 5 times ) because I don't only want to make sure I'm clean from sicknesses, I also want to know that other things are going fine. I don't agree that gays shouldn't be allowed to donate if they can prove they're clean. If anyone: straight, homosexual or extraterrestrial wants to donate and his/her blood is clean they should be allowed to. But that's not a black and white policy; I think depend on the stats of each country e.g. if in Jsrtinland 60% of white young women happen to have an STD (any) they should be very very careful on allowing them to donate. Also I agree with medman on disagreeing with I'm your man in cannibalism and vampiristic acts on blood and organs donating. It's not a matter of whether it's vegan or not, it's a matter of making a good to somebody in the world. While being vegan by not eating chicken will save lifes, being vegan by not donating won't save lifes. I have a deep respect for those who donated blood or organs and I think it's an act of compassion like few. I needed a donation once myself because I needed a surgery that was not related at all with how I conducted my lifestyle. I didn't use the blood in the end but somebody else did and that was a life that was preserved to no other life's detriment. I would definitely donate blood and when I die I want my useful organs to be transplanted into whoever might need them; I would probably do it while alive, I'd live with one kidney if a beloved person would need the other one. I don't care about it being vegan or not, I do care about life.
  2. Congrats Octo!! I showed your pics to my brother so he could see how is it made the vegan way.
  3. Congratulations Marcina, you earned it with your hard work!
  4. I went to the orthopedist yesterday because my shin splints come back every time I sneeze and that's just too much. I got x rays done and I didn't have anything weird , actually I realized of what a gorgeous pair of bones are the tibia and the fibula; but they're still sore when I run. The doctor told me not to lift weights with my legs or run in a month, to avoid anything that would stress my calves. It hurts a bit to be told so and not exactly in my legs. I guess its time to make my upper body grow but I won't make any extremely strong effort with it because I might get injured. I'll see... Food? Who said food? I'm not eating food, this is more like edible jewels, it's just awesome.
  5. I'm back home now. This place is so sweet and my friends are all beautiful. I went out dancing as soon as I could... ah lovely days! I went to take a tea sunday night with my best friend in the last floor of our highest building, I see so many good things happening here and the lights on the streets seem to light beautiful events. I feel so much hope about the city... Today I went to a contemporary arts exposition and my friend got the first place. I'm so proud of her! She was the youngest competitor and I know how much she has fought for her career. She completely deserves this prize and now she will be traveling to Italy with 2 expositions over there. I hope she learns a lot from this experience and that this is just one of many to come. Talking about food and training, I'm going crazy with these tropical fruits. Mango, papaya, mamey, guava, bananas, pineapple, coconut; it's hard not to fall. Besides my parents are cooking a lot of nice vegan food and almost not cooking meat since I'm here. Black beans, lentils, funny-rice-that-I-love with cummin, pumpkin and greens. I haven't stopped training. I'm into volume training right now but I stressed too much my quads the last couple of days and I could only squat 20 pounds, press 50. The rest of the muscles are just fine, I'm feeling the chest now. Tomorrow I want to train early in the morning so I can sleep later because there's more dancing waiting for me in the night and then going to the beach on thursday. We're getting two bikes probably tomorrow so I'm probably biking a lot over the summer, it gives me a lot of illusion. I went to the beach in the weekend and realized how bad is my endurance in the water, talked to my father and agreed that I should start swimming in september when I go back to Canada. If that happens then I will have been on every discipline in triathlon, I'd love to get into it if I can get my swimming to be a bit better and my calves to heal. I'm going to the orthopedist soon for that and getting blood tests to see how awesomely good I must be doing after turning completely vegan.
  6. Thank you alisonfsm you have a beautiful physique as well.
  7. Marcina's pics are completely gorgeous. Girl you look great! Giacomo has got me impressed as well, he knows that. I'm posting my pics and even though my face doesn't appear you could probably tell it's me because of the mini-bouldering pic with the messy hair and the green shirt Robert sent me over. I have a lot of colors on me, I have to do something about that. http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4787/foto1yu0.jpg http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/9243/foto2pb6.jpg
  8. the green one was hilarious! the progress is really visible. we have in this forum the next generation of superheros.
  9. I didn´t get to sleep. When I got to the room my friend called me and we were talking till 3 and at that time I started packing. It was fine though. No problems with anything and I can just remember the sweetest trips ever the day before. I hope I can be back soon but I still don´t know when. I will let you know for sure!!!
  10. Don't feel bad you kept me out late, I'm very thankful for that! It was the awesomest, bestest trip I've ever had! Just for the books, today was the most hardcore day ever. I was taken out to bike around Toronto after many years without riding a bike. I fell stopping at a red light somewhere in the city but it was the best bike ride ever. We played great squash and we went to the Lake Ontario at night and canoed around. Andreafrancis is the most adventurous girl I've gone out with. She made me feel strong, brave and fun. I don't think I could have had a better 4 days trip to Toronto. Thank you! I'll see you either in the Caribbean or in Toronto! btw my shoulders are looking nice lol
  11. It's great to follow your running blog. I hope to be running very soon. I wish you the best with those trainings! Btw was it you walking by Bloor and Spadina just at the corner of Fresh monday afternoon or did I cross with a lookalike?
  12. I did it: I'm done!!! Now I'm going down south where it's hotter but I'm having a great piece of Toronto first! Tomorrow it's going to be so interesting!!! I haven't been on a real bike in years but I'm going to get domesticated by it again and ride around Toronto. We'll workout, play squash and go kayaking! How's that for a day? Besides, we'll be eating healthy vegan food (will we?). Today was great working out at our little spot in they gym with Andreafrancis even though the salsa class in the other room was calling me Then we talked a lot and I got some precious advice I will follow. We ate at Fresh... hum - we ate... a lot! I mean, we have to have some fuel for tomorrow, right? Toronto is a nice city, it's full of life and there are completely great vegan persons to meet; I know because I just met one and it would be a sin not to have more persons like her in a country. Right now I'm just thinking of that bike. It will be awesome! I think I'll wear my new vegan fitness team tank top!
  13. Andrea I think you're saying too many nice things about me! I'm not that superb Talking to you cleared up my mind a lot. Thanks!! It was a great afternoon/evening. I'm really loooking forward to our hardcore day tomorrow, I know we'll still have much more fun. We'll use all that nice stuff we ate today. And tomorrow there should be no cake or pie I think, even though they were hmmmmmm so yummy! EDIT: Aww you! I hadn't seen that!
  14. The guy has been training for three months, there is no chance he needs six different exercises for chest. Or a whole workout for only shoulders. Or four different exercises for triceps. Um, why not? why should he stick to just a few? I don't know much about this but has anyone ever waken you up in the middle of the night and asked you to do a calculus exam? I think that's what he's doing with his body getting into a hardcore training so directly. Perhaps some conditioning training will help him better at this stage.
  15. That was a lot of hair to put together! http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/5694/peinaoea9.jpg
  16. I'm no expert here but I hope my advice is somehow helpful. I agree with bronco regarding veganism/whey/milk and full body workouts. If you are a beginner you would need to have some physical conditioning first before hitting the one-muscle-group-a-week program. I've never tried that one myself but what I've read/heard is that it is for people with some good background. Besides, I see exercise more as a means to health (with nice external side effects) than as a way of torturing myself on the machines. Perhaps you might want to try the whole body workout (if you do it in circuit you will also burn some more fat) or you can do a split program trying to work out muscles that won't interfere with each other too much. For example: Day 1: chest, quads, biceps, calfs Day2: back, hams, shoulders, triceps Shift your program about every 3 weeks. And try to play sports, soccer, mma, baseball, whatever else... Watch out also what you are eating. You say that you eat junk food, that's not good at all. It's not only the calories you consume but where do they come from. We have some people here that have diets with ridiculously high caloric content and very low bf with great muscles. Try to find out what might work for you but I would clean the diet (e.g. butter does nothing good for you) and eat an amount of food that will support whatever exercise you do throughout the day.
  17. I can do assisted pull ups! *sigh of relief* I do 4 sets of 10 with a chair below me but I can't do this It's a goal now for when I come back from my summer at home. 5 real non-assisted pull ups. I hope I have time lol
  18. Just google "emo" and you'll get it pretty quick. I didn't see many of them in Montreal though. But perhaps that was just because the winter made the sad and they didn't go out. (I couldn't explain very well what an emo is) I think that the right 5 or 6 pills would get you as dead as 5/6 bullets. But pills don't always have the blood effect.
  19. What if you don't make it. It's like "failuuuure" then people look at you like you're an emo. I know a girl who did it twice, for a bf; if she'd had a gun she'd had still gone for the pills because all she wanted was attention No but seriously, no need for guns or suicide. I like the movie "Hair".
  20. Just another "don't-need-to-leave" post. I'm sure we can understand your English, I'm no expert either but I understood you completely. Besides our German members will love to help you for sure (and non-German too),
