  1. I think that death & killing excite the evil dick. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/gate/archive/2004/01/23/notes012304.DTL Dick Cheney Kills Birds Dead The manly veep has himself a lazy, "canned" pheasant slaughter, and we are so impressed snip... Nossir, our man Dick, he has himself flown over, in Air Force 2, on the taxpayer's tab, accompanied by his most favoritest shotgun, to the exclusive Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier, Westmoreland County, in rural Pennsylvania, to have himself a nice, cushy "canned" pheasant hunt. This is what it was: Dick and about nine other overfed white guys sitting in a comfy luxury blind with their manly shotguns, waiting for the Westmoreland guy stationed behind them on a hill to release clusters of stunned, fat, tame game birds from a net. Then they shoot them. Lots and lots of them. And then they slap each other on the back. And they grunt and say nice shot as the birds drop like flies as dogs race back and forth hauling dead or dying birds into huge piles. Whee what fun. More than 400 birds were killed in one lackadaisical afternoon. Dick himself blasted the living crap out of 70 birds, all by himself. That's right, 70. Plus an unknown number of mallard ducks. Then they had them all plucked and vacuum packed and sent back home to show off to the staff. Dick was driven back to the airport in a Humvee. === This isn't hunting -- it's slaughter. He has no humanity.
  2. Crispy cringes. . . Much as I hate the evil dick, I would never wish death on anyone. Besides, he & his administration (including his boy-king puppet) have so far been teflon -- nothing sticks. I hope this event contributes to their downfall, but not at the cost of Whittington's life, even if he too is a slime-ball.
  3. I would think most men would agree with that statement. I know when I'm getting in a hot-n-heavy mood my makeup is the last thing I think about!
  4. Welcome Animal. You will find excellent advice here & possibly show the carnivorous beefcakes they are wrong.
  5. Oh Robert! I just want to reach through this cyber-world & give you a big hug for the good you are doing for these animals!

    Wow

Welcome, finbarrio! That's great that you have felt the benefits of a vegan lifestyle in such a short period of time. There are some great recipes in the recipe forum. All healthy & low fat, of course!
  7. Two more homemade treats. Vegan Peanut Butter Cups 1/2 cup vegan margarine 3/4 cup peanut butter 3/4 cup graham cracker wafer crumbs 1/4 cup turbinado sugar 1 cup chocolate chips 1/4 cup soy milk 1/4 cup peanuts, chopped 12 muffin cup liners, foil ones work best In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the margarine. Stir in the peanut butter, graham crumbs, and sugar. Mix well. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cracker mixture into muffin tins lined with cupcake liners. In another small saucepan on medium heat, melt the chocolate and milk together until completely melted, stirring often. Spoon chocolate mixture on top of the cracker mixture. If desired, garnish with nuts. Allow to set in the fridge for 6-8 hours before serving. ===== MadCat submitted this recipe for quick & easy cheesecake. I modified it by making it in muffin cups for individual treats. Vegan Cheese Cake graham cracker crust: >1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs >2 tablespoons granulated sugar >6 tablespoons Earth Balance, melted filling: >8 ounce container Tofutti Cream Cheese >1 package vanilla Jello instant pudding mix >1 cup soy milk Line 12 muffin cups with liners -- foil ones work best. Make the graham cracker mixture & put about 2 tablespoons into the bottom of each liner & press. Place in fridge while you make the filling. Mix cream cheese, pudding mix & soy milk in blender. Pour cheese mixture over the cracker mixture. Chill overnight. To make more Valentine-y top with a few raspberries.
  8. Origins has animal free brushes & some animal free makeup. Bare Escentuals mineral products (face powder, blush, eye shadow) are vegan. I do not know about their other cosmetics, skin care, lotions or hair products. Crash, thanks for the tip on Aveda. There is a local store that sells Aveda -- I will check it out. I had an environmental issue with Arbonne. I ordered 3 lipsticks & received my order in a box that was 1 foot by 1 foot. To make matters worse, it had some kind of pumped-in silver covered foam that wasn't recycleable. I was so angry at the excessive packaging I returned the order with a letter stating why. Holy crap, if you are going to sell small items, have the correct packaging on hand to do so. Excessive packaging is a pet peeve of mine. And of course, I have to put my plug in for Aubery-Organics products. IMHO, the finest products skin & hair care products on the market! However, they do have a few that are not vegan -- a collegen lotion & one of their face powders.
  9. Thanks for this post, Rob. Good info to have. I've been working hard to get P&G out of my house. It's not easy! Unfortunately, I see a couple of items on this list that I didn't realize were P&G. Grrrrr......I will start looking for alternatives.
  10. Figure skating. So fun to watch grace & athletics combined. The Russian couple was outstanding! Also, I enjoy noticing the changes in costumes. This year, some of the women are wearing jumpsuit type costumes. Also, skaters have the best damned looking legs!! http://www.nbcolympics.com/2006/0213/5103645_320X240.jpg Totmiyanina and Marinin were flawless in Saturday's short program.
  11. Welcome to your element, Moo. Great screen name!

    New!

Just curious, does maple syrup count as sugar? I have a cookbook called Vice Cream & it is nothing but ice cream & fruit sorbet type of stuff. I've made a few of the ice cream recipes. They are based on cashews, cocoa or other flavoring & maple syrup for sweetener. I'd share a few with you if you are interested. They are quite delicious! Good luck on going raw.

Welcome, Comet!!! You don't say where you are from. Maybe we can help with the ice cream/dairy products if we know where you are from? Do you have Soy Dream at your local Health Food Stores (HFS)? It is a wonderful replacement for ice-cream & totally vegan.
  14. Welcome mutated! Congrats to you & your wife for deciding on the veg way of life! It truely is healthier, spiritually & physically & environmentally. Embrace it & make it yours in the way that fits for you.
  15. Multinational corporations are ruining our countries & our planet. Look into your country's Consititution & see if corporate personhood exists. If so, do everything in your power to fight this scourge on humanity, on our planet, on our very existence. Being anti-corporate personhood does not mean you are anti-buisness, like the powers that be like to portray. It simply means that corporations should serve humans, not the other way around. It means that corporations should not be able to influence government to serve their needs over the needs of the people. It means that corporations should not be allowed to implement business practices (via government influence that the common person does not have) that harm humans & human communities. www.http://reclaimdemocracy.org/personhood/
  16. Welcome Roc! Check out the recipes forum for lots of great recipes & foods that are filling & nutritious & vegan. Also, ask lots of questions. We love to help fellow vegans & wanna-be-vegans!
  17. CollegeB, I changed my party affiliation the day Kerry conceded the 2004 selection without mention of electronic voting issues. Currently, I am without a party. I will check out the libertarians. I like the Greens because they address corporate personhood in their platform & I cannot sign up with a party that does not recognize this issue as a critical problem with our current state of affairs. You are right that the dems & gop are simply different sides of the same coin -- they both serve corporate interests.
  18. Turnabout is fair play! http://pic4.picturetrail.com/VOL728/2745263/7447807/128793159.jpg
  19. Skeletor has a great face!! Love that story about him peeing on your leg!
  20. Robert you are so special to take time to visit these wonderful animals. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience & will visit them again. This one looks like my Cassie cat when she was just an itty-bitty-kitty.
  21. Look yummy! Did you bake it? If so, you must share the recipe! I've been wondering who takes your photos.
  22. Welcome cheekygeek. No clues as to who you are, but happy to get to know your new persona!

    Hey!

  24. Welcome Brian! What type of work do you do with animals?
